This month we talk about five issues of really bad comic adaptations of Resident Evil, which should actually be really easy to adapt! It's nonsense, really, how WildStorm managed to biff this one so hard. What starts as half-assed, rushed retellings of the first two games expands into some slightly better, but still worthless expansions and side stories. How does Barry Burton's therapy go? What if there were zombies in the Eiffel Tower? What if there were some bats in a desert?

Nothing good ever happens to fictional people named Alec. Alec Trevelyan, Alec Holland, Alec Baldwin.... You might look at Swamp Thing fondly because of Alan Moore's run on the comic series, but most other attempts to use this strange character end up being really misguided and hollow. Case in point, this very bad NES game based on the very bad animated series.

Join us on a high flying, globetrotting fight against international assassins, as we lurch towards the most consequential season finale so far. Brock has been burned by the OSI, and Molotov Cocktease has provided him with dossiers on the three themed assassins who are out to knock him off. So he must protect the Venture family while also trying to save himself, as doom descends on the Venture compound.
Special thanks to Joshua Jar...

Everything To Guppy is a bite-sized, four-times weekly comedy/gaming podcast in which Gary Butterfield (Watch Out For Fireballs) and William Hughes (The A.V. Club) attempt to analyze every single item, boss, character, and concept in the rogue-lite video game The Binding Of Isaac. They manage to pull it off only slightly less than 50 percent of the time.

This week has us looking at a fun little indie game about a young girl trying to use her dolls to figure out how people have sex. It's a very small project, made over three days for a game jam, but it's a fun springboard into a few conversations about sex and insecurity.

We begin our new series on Ashen by talking about the game's generalities, and fighting through the first boss. Most Soulslikes concern themselves with the end of the world, but this one has us midwifing a world's rebirth, and we're going to do that with combat and systems that are very familiar to Souls veterans.

If you will excuse us this indulgence, we would like to take an opportunity to assign tier rankings to each "I Think You Should Leave" sketch. We really like this show, and cannot stop talking or thinking about it. This week we are finishing up by adding Season 2 sketches to the rankings from before.
Kole's Tiers are uploaded as attachments on this post, if you're curious where things ended up overall.

It's the heartwarming tale of two psychopaths who save the world from people more dangerous than even them. Sam is a laid back dog, Max is an impulsive rabbit-thing, and they are classic adventure game protagonists. This episodic adventure game came early in Telltale's life as a studio, when they were attempting to reimagine how to make classic adventure games well after the bottom fell out of the industry. While this season shows some growing pains, it's hard to deny the inherent charm of th...

It's only going to be confusing this one time. Season 3 speeds to its conclusion with this stealth first part of the multi-part finale. It's a globetrotting mystery hunt, as Doc Hammer takes us along on a National Treasure adventure made up of his own fascinations. The Venture Family, their bodyguards, and the organizations that gave birth to the Guild and the OSI all revolve around one world altering MacGuffin, I mean artifact: the Orb. And Billy Quizboy's lifelong quest to crack the code st...

The good news is that this episode doesn't get as gross as you'd expect. This is a modern-ish remake of a storied German franchise where you start and run an pay toilet empire. Which isn't a terrible idea, even if the execution stinks.

We need a little more time to get more Ashen under our belts, so this week we present something from the archives... The first time Gary and Kole really talked about Dark Souls. This was recorded as part of the extra content for our Fallout episode back in November of 2012. Hear our initial geeking out, and the earliest rumblings of the crazy idea of making a show that's all about Dark Souls.
We will be back next Sunday (August 8) with the beginning of our series on Ashen.

Hello! It's hard to believe that it's already time to do this again, but we would like your help selecting the games we will cover on August's premium Abject Suffering episodes. Click the links below to see videos, and place your vote by August 3.
Our mental health meters were running low and we didn't have a topic in us, so we just did a bunch of questions. We also read your responses to July's games before announcing Septembers crop.
