Chapter 115: Taming the Wilds

“Peep.” The little chick squeaked as it poked its head enthusiastically out of the shell, taking it in its first view of the world. It looked up curiously at Darkshot as he cradled it in his hands. “Peep peep.” It continued, turning its head sideways curiously as its eyes met this strange creature that was holding it, as if to say, ‘are you my mommy?’. Darkshot, however, looked at it with an expression of sheer disappointment.

Lina, Aegis, Pyri and Rakkan opted to stay quiet...

Chapter 114: Beastmaster Mak'rog

You take 3530 Bludgeoning damage.

The message appeared the moment that Mak’rog’s club smashed into Aegis’ shield, causing his knees to buckle from the force. Excruciating pain shot through his arm down his spine to his knees for two seconds. He struggled to recover from the blow quickly, but he had no choice as Mak’rog pulled back his other arm and lashed the whip out at Aegis. Aegis quickly sidestepped the strike, causing the whip to ...

Chapter 113: Poachers

Lina woke in the morning to the sound of birds singing in the nearby trees surrounding their campsite. For a moment, she’d forgotten where she was, how she got there, and why she was sleeping outdoors. She’d stayed up so late talking with Aegis after the long day of adventuring that she’d slept through the night like a rock.

Her head was resting on something soft, yet firm, and as she came to realize what it was, she nervously lifted her head up. She’d somehow, while sleeping, r...

Chapter 112: The Grind

“That’s it, there’s the den right ahead.” Darkshot pointed at the rocky cavern entrance jutting out of the forest floor, a large gnarled tree growing atop it with its roots dangling over the entryway. There was a small clearing in front of the cavern where no grass grew, it was hardened rocky dirt, flattened by the repeated traffic of the lynx’s that wandered about it.

They had a decent vantage point to see the cavern and around it, spotting countless numbers of lynx. They var...

Chapter 111: Ironwood

“When it comes to basic crafting materials,” Aegis explained as he worked on creature harvesting the lynx, “Leather quality is based on the level of the beast it's harvested from, with some bonuses for certain types. Right?” Aegis confirmed with Rakkan and Lina as they worked on setting up a campfire.

“For ore, tier 1 is copper, tier 2 is iron, and tier 3 is mithral.” Aegis continued.

“Yes.” Lina nodded.

“For cloth, we’ve got cotton and wool at tier 1, th...

Chapter 110: Welcome to Kolz

“There it is, the river that Vihaan told us about.” Darkshot motioned ahead through the thick forest around them towards a clearing, where the group of five could hear the sound of running water.

It was morning, the sun was just now peeking up over the horizon and giving the sky a dark blue hue, with a chilly breeze blowing through the giant trees towering over them with their wide, sturdy trunks. They’d walked throughout the night without resting and managed to go undisturbed by ...

Chapter 109: Shiva's Task

Aegis and the others arrived in front of the Temple of Shiva that late afternoon. The Temple’s primary feature was a gigantic statue of a muscular male sitting cross-legged on the roof of the temple. The statue featured four arms rather than two, and wore a beaded rosary around his neck with a bun of hair standing up on top. In each hand was held a different object, the most predominant and noticeable being a large trident.

Aside from that, the temple underneath him was much more colo...

Aegis could see that Yuki was starting to get nervous the longer he took to answer her question. Aegis looked to his party members confused and they all shrugged at him.

“Ah,” she spoke as she saw his apprehension, “It’s about the design of outfits for Rene! I need to ask Yumily to bring materials back here from her trip to Savringard, and so I was wondering if you could come with me to see the designs and help me pick the best ones.” She asked hopefully.

Chapter 107: Odin's Challenge Pt. 2

Aegis took position at the front, standing closest to the door, while Pyri and Darkshot moved to stand behind him, and Lina and Rakkan flanked his left and right respectively.

After several more loud stomps, a pair of large familiar white horns protruded out of the darkness of the doorway, and a second later, the Minotaur became visible. Identical to the one they’d seen the party fighting when they had first entered the coliseum, it let out a ferocious roar as it brandished its double...

Chapter 106: Odin's Challenge

“This is way better.” Rakkan said with a big smile as they stood in front of Kordas' Temple of Odin. There were no walls, or curtains, or archways. No bushes, fountains, or gardens of any kind. The road from the Kordas temple district branched down a long walkway flanked by statues of mighty warriors wielding large weapons in intimidating poses, and beyond them stood the Temple of Odin, a large round stone building surrounded by a ring of pillars holding up a plain stone overhang.

Chapter 105: Aphrodite's Love

Aegis, Lina, Pyri, Rakkan and Darkshot found themselves staring through the archway that sat between the streets of Kordas’ temple district, and the Temple of Aphrodite. A thin red curtain that was split in the middle stood draped over the archway to act as a door, with tiny golden tassels hanging off the bottom, but Aegis had pulled the curtain to the side so that the party of 5 could see the temple beyond. Directly ahead of them was a beautiful garden path surrounded by lush green bushes ...

Chapter 104: Weapon of Choice

The morning after Yumily’s concert, Aegis found himself standing in the midst of the Kordas training grounds. The sun was peeking up over the horizon giving a dark blue hue to the cloudless sky, and a light chilly breeze blew over him. He could hear the faint sounds of wooden impacts coming from various other players already up and training themselves on the dummies spread about the grounds around him, but he had no interest in watching them.

He had a problem that needed solving. Lyin...

“I see, so that is the answer.” Jael said as he stood up from his desk, causing Pyri to turn her glare onto him. The moment she looked away from Trexon, Yorgi looked anxiously at Trexon, and Trexon motioned him to back up away from Pyri, as he himself did exactly that. Yorgi didn’t get it - if he didn’t know better, it looked as though both Jael and Trexon were both afraid of this level 30 Wizard. “A Controlmancer is weak. I would only assign that to a Wizard that shows no potential...

“Well..” Yorgi replied awkwardly.

“You’re all mental.” Pyri huffed at him before turning her attention back to Jael. “Find the answer, he says. You want me to find an answer myself. An answer ...

Rakkan and Sherry watched as the doors to the Unarmed Combat arena opened and Darkshot slowly walked out of the room. He’d been inside for 8 minutes, and in that time Rakkan and Sherry had both seen Aegis’ notification. Rakkan had his arms crossed, a serious expression on his face as he watched Darkshot walk towards the quest NPC, whilst Sherry looked anxiously hopeful.

They were a week into their training at this time, and despite training nonstop, their unarmed combat skills were only at 15 - gaining experience on the training dummies was extremely slow in comparison to using it against actua...

Quick Edit Note

In 2 days the RR version of Aegis' class skills will be published - I have edited the chapter 'Database' and changed the quest he recieves. In this Patreon written version, the quest says he needs to find all 7 of the Silver Dragons from the Hrath'mir quest.

I edited it so that he only needs to find one of them. Planning the story, it'd just be an extended, boring and repetitive fetch quest if I had Aegis doing the same thing 7 times. It would also take an incredibly long time as they...

Chapter 99: Overthinking

Pyri waited patiently in Jael’s office on the top floor of the Wizard Tower in Kordas, staring around at the books on the shelves quietly, tapping her foot on the tiled floor beneath her leather boots. Jael remained sitting silently behind his desk, reading documents and shuffling papers around.

“Whoa…” Amlie’s eyes went wide in amazement as they stepped into the stadium. It was gigantic. Aegis could tell from a quick glance that the stadium was designed similar to the arenas that he did his Shield Mastery and Leadership intermediate quests in. It was circular in shape, the pillars had been removed, it was much larger, and a stage had been set up down at the bottom in the back where the door to monsters had been. The arena had round rings of benches going up several stories i...
