Cass’s head was still fuzzy when she woke up, she didn’t feel like she had been out long. Actually, she felt wonderful. Tired, absolutely exhausted, but wonderful. Her head was on her Master’s lap, who had dressed- even if he looked a little disheveled- and he was stroking her hair. An uncommonly gentle gesture from her Master, as was using the remains of her dress as an impromptu blanket to cover her. She stirred and tried to sit up, but Hall gently, yet firm...

--I have never written a chapter like this before, and am unsure how it turned out. When I started this story, I clearly did not think about what it meant to have a female lead and the fact that scenes like this would be neccesary. I hope it is a decent chapter--
Haj’s weather was much nicer than Beergmutar’s, but it was still horrible. The roads were such that it was impassable by carriage- however, without the slopes that would have to be dealt with in the mo...

So depression is rough. In my author's notes for the most recent ABW chapter I said that each sentence has been like pulling teeth... And it has been, but I am feeling better. More than I was last week to be certain, and am getting back on track despite numerous delays and insanity.
Which brings me to the current issue, I need to apologise to my wonderful (and probably incredibly sexy) Patrons!
The only question was how I should do so- which brings me to this question: ...

Lucas seemed far more relaxed regarding this meeting than anyone else under the hastily erected… Well, awning would probably be the best choice of words. Lucas had not wanted to have an obstructed view, so the meeting place was little more than a cloth spread between four polls. Still, even with that as a precaution, he seemed awfully relaxed as the figures of the horses and riders coming to meet us grew larger.
Terrasin had not expected Pr...

“What… Did you just say?” Jean must have misheard, that was simply too absurd to be an actual report.
“The vanguard has… Returned, Baron.” A nervous messenger kept his eyes to the ground as he relayed the message, not keen to be the one delivering it, “Your son is not with them.”
“And where did you say he was?”
“Dead, Baron.” The messenger replied quietly, “My deepest sorrow for your loss.”

“As I was saying,” the commander delivered the bad news to Lucas with a sigh. “The issue with your plan, and those weapons, is that the nature of this city makes it impossible to defend without full support from the army on the front.”
“In the event that the army is unavailable, the outer walls are meant to buy time for the people to flee inward.” Another officer chimed in, “given the area that the wall covers, it can’t do anything else.”

So I owe everyone an explanation, despite me not really wanting to mention this...
So I will just give a tl;dr for everyone. I am diagnosed with sever depression, there was a change in medication, it worked, but not for a few days.
That screwed with my writing schedule, or to be more precise, my writing. There will be a bunch of chapters for you guys today as I go through and edit all of the existential misery out of them.
Sorry for the wait. :c

So I have been focusing on 'Mystic Ink' a lot, and I feel I am in a good place before the next arc to take a small pause.
I have been negligent of 'A Broken World' and the other five stories I am writing because I have been so absorbed with 'Mystic Ink!' So for the next week (roughly, probably more like four to six days) I will be focusing on my other stories and trying to get them caught up with 'Mystic Ink!'
Also, wow I am tired for some reason... I need caffiene!

Cass woke up again to find herself on the ground in a tunnel. It was… Surprisingly warm, though not enough that she was actually comfortable. She sat up to see a small fire burning made from scraps of wood, and she was finally able to get her bearings. She had trouble remembering the flight from Vaila, Cass desperately hoped that they had grabbed the map or this was just a slower death sentence than what they left behind them.
“Hey, look who woke up. Did you e...

One of the most important lessons you can learn on the street is to not ask questions. You don’t questions the thugs and gangsters about what they are doing, you don’t draw attention from the guards by questioning them, you never question the boss of your area if you value your bones unbroken, and you never, ever, ask where food came from. Cass reflected on this valuable lesson as she took her dinner at the inn. It was a stew- probably, honestly it was a bit hard to pin dow...

Vaila was a small city, not even close to the size of Beergmutar, which itself was much smaller than Tyine. Perhaps with many cities this would be where someone would say, ‘but it has a nice atmosphere.’ Or something to that effect.
However, Vaila was a pit. Little more than a military checkpoint with a mine and some basic facilities for travelers passing through. Still, it would be the pit they would have to live in for the next three months. Cass purchased t...

Lucas was giving a massive list of warnings and cautions, but Julian was too tired to listen. When Lucas had said that he would be ‘borrowing’ him and his subordinates, what he apparently meant was that he would work them like slaves. Half the words that he had said while he was explaining what he was having them do were not translated by the collar either, so no one had any clue what they had produced after all that effort.
It was just a white powder, perh...

So if there was one thing I would want people to know about me, it would be that I make mistakes too. See, when you say one thing and do another as a normal person, it is a mistake that you can leave behind you. When you are a billionaire CEO you if it gets out it will haunt you until you die. I preface with this because I am waking up to the kind of thing I swore up and down I would never do.

Core had changed the dungeon greatly, the first floor now consisted of six total rooms. The entrance, four halls, and the core room itself. In between those was a maze of corridors full of dead ends and traps. However, most of the dungeon was empty of monsters. Core had said that he would fill it as time went on, and he was making plans for a boss room. After which he had promised to make a place for me on the second floor.
Honestly, I was more surpr...

Just as Birdie said, the guards came in a little bit later distributing dark bread and gruel. Not much different from the Church if Cass thought about it. The guards also grabbed a few kids, one of which was Stone. The first two left quietly, but Stone tried to refuse kicking and struggling until one of the guards punched him in the gut and dragged him off.
Who they grabbed seemed completely arbitrary...

Lucas rushed over to check on Terrasin, and thankfully she was already waking up. She didn’t seem hurt, but clearly she had received a great shock from what Lucas had said. He had to admit, he had been distracted by his own thoughts and his attempt to generate magical energy artificially without actually thinking about how others would react to it.
Lucas had called himself an idiot not too long ago, but this was more confirmation than he would like to have se...

If there was one thing that Cass would learn from this, it was that she absolutely hated the wilderness.
Compared to these mountains, the alleys and gutters of Tyine seemed positively welcoming. For that matter, the distances she was traveling made Cass wonder precisely how long she was kept unconscious. She had not ran into that orb again, and she wasn’t even sure if that was what kept her unconscious, but the distance was much further than what she had imagined. And it se...

“I am a fucking idiot.”
Terrasin was watching Lucas groan with his head in his hands. It was actually quite amusing.
She had read through his book regarding agriculture- and frankly it seemed to be the product of genius. When she said as much, Lucas had laughed and muttered something about the ‘shoulders of giants,’ and said that the smallest advances are the biggest hurdles. That made it all the more hilarious that he had been ...

The crowd was stunned by the sudden ferocious attack, and Cass took that second to revel in the feeling of the backstabbers blood on her hands. The next moment she was whirling through the crowd like a cyclone of death. Flooding power into her anklet, every kick shredded human flesh and with her fingers sheathed in hardened air she clawed out throats and rended bodies.
Against Warriors Cass may have been eventually overwhelmed, but against Sand and Stone peasants she tore through t...

Neither was she sure why she was so determined to tear the kingdom of Beergmutar down around her.
