Friday Review: Time Flies

1. Last time I talked about funding and I think it worried some people.  Presently C&Rsenal is fine and stable.  I would just like to see continued growth because that's a better sign for the future.  Financially, I'd also like enough buffer for the show to eat two big hits IF anything happened.  Say a loaner piece, despite all inspection, fails and we have to replace it or our car just catches fire for no reason.  Best to be prepared so I'm pushing for a buffer s...

100 Episodes!

This was actually the first piece of art Georges sent us about 10 episodes back.  I've patiently been waiting to share it.

Thank you all for the support through 100 episodes of the most in-depth firearms history show ever produced!  We've relied on authors, researchers, archivists, collectors, curators, friends, family, and even pets.  C&Rsenal and the Primer series would never had found success on traditional media; we have no appeal to traditional advertisers. &nbs...

Wednesday Review : Worry - Discord - Berries

1. I'm not going to lie, I'm pretty nervous that this year's campaign won't make 60% of last years.  Something just feels off in the air despite our best efforts.

That may be because most projects have sorta flatlined vs expectations through 2019.  We're actually still not at the monthly funding level necessary to support Mae and I both full time and are covering ourselves with what usually becomes special project funds.

This is a big reason why the 1911 keeps getting k...

T-Shirts Were Declared

All right gang, sorry you're getting this a bit behind the public release but I was out of town today and struggling with my phone.

Our new shirt designs are available for order!  I hope they're a little more exciting this time for all of you!

Wednesday Review : 100

1.  I hacked Ian's livestream, by accident.  Ian over at Forgotten Weapons was doing a live stream for supporters of his new book.  I saw he was live and thought I would call and congratulate him.  The moment my phone range his the stream died and after 5 rings and no pick up I figured he was busy with technical issues.  So I hung up.  The stream immediately returned.  Apparently he was using his phone.

Of course, I made for for this buy alludi...

Wednesday Review

Once more, not unlike before.

1. T-shirts are nearly ready for another campaign.  So likely for the month of June.  While I have concerns about the time of year, I've really stretched outside my comfort zone to get these put together.

The bottom right is a modification of a fan-made image.  The same shown on Project Lightening.  We've received his permission to work it up into a production shirt.  The rest are my own experiments with doing some more 2D des...

Wednesday Review: Better Late

Ah snot, the week got away from me.  Good thing I update these every other day and then save to draft.

1.  I always seem to be just behind the first shot on things.  I gave the Project Lightening link to you all, did some late night work, went to bed, woke up and dig more house work and finally posted the video promotion.  All my comments were that Ian already released a poster that day.

I can't be sure it affected sales but they are fair...

Wednesday Review: Back Pain

Time for another friendly update!

This week has been less interesting for story time because, well it's been a slog of normal work.

1. Lots of little things shook out of the Chauchat scripts after the fact.  Requiring long hours of fixes, extra assets, and secondary recordings.  It's been a mess.  But hopefully it won't show!

2. I'm stuck on promo stuff.  We have the 100th episode coming and I'd like to release a print I've been sitting on, made ...

Wednesday Review: Dear Diary

I've picked up a new habit already with these Wednesday reviews:  I write them bit by bit all week like a diary.  It makes things easier to remember.

1. This week was mostly consumed by script writing and filming the Chauchat episodes.  Editing will take some time but I have to do some last minute touch ups to the Russian Nagant you've already seen by now.

I'm learning a hard lesson, which is that although Mae roughly halves my schedule it isn't even from week to w...

Wednesday Review : Snail mail, shotguns, books, and how to hold on to a dollar.

First and foremost, we did set up a PO Box finally:

 PO Box 80849

 Charleston, SC 29407

I fear what I might find.  Obviously no firearms guys.  We have Carolina Rod and Gun for that.

This has been a pretty exciting week behind the scenes.

1. The auction we referenced last week, the one with a random fan who went the extra mile to bid for us?  Well we had him bid on a set of shotguns we assumed were the same...

Week in Review

By the clock it's Thursday, but I tend to work nights mostly.  Less distraction.  Last time we talked about the macro.  I'll try to dial in a little further this week. Currently I'm supposed to be pulling the show ahead in terms of production, but I keep getting sidetracked.  Here, in no particular order, are things on my mind for the past week.

1. I spent several days negotiating a trade for a rare piece.  Had an agreement, he was suppos...

Midweek update #1

All right gang I've been a terrible host on Patreon.  I suspect its because this platform chases me around the least.  (I'm looking at you Facebook).

I'm going to start trying to update you all once a week on just what the heck is going on around the show and I'll do my best to keep up with comments.   Maybe post on Wednesday and handle all the comments on Friday?  To start, we'll have a longer post and run down where we are at now:

Getting back into the flow.

I'm waiting on some news from YouTube but they are starting to really strip ads off most of our content.  Well, they leave them as "not advertiser friendly" so that we get a penny on the usual dollar.

Interestingly, this is mostly targeted at Anvil and they have now confirmed, by email, that the Marlin 1898 safety episode is just too much for civilized audiences.

Thanks for the support, you lot are quite literally our only hope! View Post

Patches!

I'll be honest: Project Lightening did not meet projections in terms of direct sales / advertising dollars.  It also had no effect on Patreon funding yet.  We did not take a loss, but the pay per hour is about $1.50 as things stand.

So if and when we do this again we'll have to include some merchandising options or other means to cover the mix of effort and liability.  To that end we are testing a limited run of patches.  Everyone seems to have loved the logos we de...

The Community Tab

So I'm going to have to just make a note to check this on Fridays.  I THINK I get sent an email but it gets mixed in with the hundreds of social media notifications.  When I come to the site, I get flagged for messages but not community posts.  Sorry I keep missing them.

As with anything, our contact form on the site is the 100% best way to make sure I see your messages.

Thanks gang!

Project Lightening: After Action Report with Mark

This is our final stall.  Regular episodes will be back next time, with TWO machine guns (one of which was NOT on Lightening!)

Sorry for the delay, we bit off WAY more than we could chew on this project.

What is next

Lightening pushed out all basic errands so the household is getting put back together at the cost of episode production. Our next will likely be replaced with an after action report with Mark, going over what wound down on each gun during testing.

Overall Primer has fuel for about a year before we have to consider Squibs and neutrals.

In the meantime I am considering gearing up a more visual, less long-form shotgun history series.  The hazy focus now is American repeate...

Project Lightening Download Code

If you guys get itchy to grab the whole series for download, use the code " Download3 " to cut it in half.

I also urge those with Comcast or other ISPs with attitudes download one segment at a time.  Lest they throttle it like they did us in testing!

All right, at 64 hours running, I"m ready for bed finally.  If you have any issues, email me after 2pm and I'll fix it!
