I have swapped the transmission filter for a new one, which left me smelling of ATF. This has improved the previously noticeable lope between gears. I managed to swap the steering gear, although somehow lost about 3 degrees on the wheel. Which will irk me enough to pull the pitman again and resettle it. The problem was MOSTLY solved. No more screaming steering. But braking at low speed basically disables power steering still. From my google fu I am told this is from a valve failing in the pump. ...

Mae sold her Equinox, a car designed from the ground up to cause back pain. I have been mostly riding my Royal Enfield these days so I surrendered my Jeep to her. We used some of the proceeds to buy this, the majestic 1999 Suburban.Given our 80" light box and ever expanding list of equipment and volunteers, plus the extreme discomfort during our 16 hour trip to Springfield, we find this a wise investment. It will need, however a lot of work to get right.Jay and I did, however take it 1,200 miles ...

The marathon work session began last night... let's see if I can deliver on time. Half the translation and the live fire was done before I got sick. The entire rest of the episode will be worked from about 8pm last night until whenever it uploads monday night/tuesday morning.
I predict little to no sleep. Do they still make Blue Monster?
Just the recap.
Also... with 3 days knocked out from under me when I was already behind... this is going to be a mad dash.
Sunday afternoon we did some rifle filming, and experimented with using the evening light to better control our levels in the high summer. I have not had a chance to review the footage though.
Because, Sunday night I had a Waffle House hashbrown covered in cheese and topped with chili. While some others had the same, I must have been the lucky winner. Because I awoke at 8am (I usually work evenings and sleep in) with the sudden and violent urge to empty myself through all...
2016-05-17 19:53:20 +0000 UTC View PostI am happy to announce the channel has cleared 1 Million views in total!
I have mixed feelings to announce we have had a video break 100,000 views for the first time. Mostly because I hoped something like the Ross or T-gewehr would have the punch needed first.
Instead the honor goes to the 3 minute BF1 video I knocked together in order to reach out into the gaming community early, hoping to lure them into the real discussion of WWI firearms.
Given EA's record I ex...
2016-05-09 16:38:04 +0000 UTC View PostAnother user comment popped up today to remind me that I've probably never made something clear to you patrons: Why we are doing the show the way it is.
In all honesty, I never wanted a show. I'm camera hesitant (never really shy though) and it's a huge effort that requires repeated deadlines and tons of public exposure. By participating in my own show I've almost guaranteed I'll never see a deal at a gunshow again.
What I wanted was a book.
I...

I've been dropping these on Facebook but realized I need to do them here too.
So I'll be posting doubles every Thursday until it's caught up.
Just a little extra from our trip to Springfield! Thanks to your support!

We hit our maximum goal from the start of the show! So now it's time to review and update.
First: Thank you all for the huge support! The show would literally be impossible without you. Thanks to patrons we can afford things like:
Ammunition
Gas
Super necessary team lunch and drinks on 8 hour shoots
Cheap hotels (travel for show)
Reloading dies and components
Shipping for loaners
Tons of reference material

2016-04-17 15:30:58 +0000 UTC View PostIt has the most relaxed atmosphere / easiest price. Plus we know where it is now.
7pm start, yes we'll stick around until at least 9pm.
I smell of sweat and old guns, so minimal hugging.
Some of you requested a meetup. Well we know we have some time at 7pm tonight. So we just need to figure out a restaurant. Anyone have suggestions for Springfield, MA food? (up to 30 min travel totally fine if it is "worth it" and dives always welcome.)
I'll make the call and post it here by 5pm.
So, in getting the Luger ready to launch I pulled an all nighter. Then took a 3 hour nap and drove to Springfield, MA.
Spent the day going through the whole collection and marking off what we'll need to photograph. Will spend tomorrow and the next going through the pieces, then weeks processing.
I'm thinking we'll close on 50 pieces. The book may emerge sooner than I had thought.
But... in the past 52 hours I've only had 3 to sleep. So... gonna ...
So, just a quick journal update.
The combination of planning the trip to Kentucky and the preparation for the T-gewehr was... difficult on my schedule. Once it was over I took about an afternoon off and got back to work.
I quickly realized we didn't have time for a full range day before the next episode, so I'd have to work with existing footage. No big... oh wait the only prepped shooting footage that has high speed is the Luger.
Because of our trip next we...
