It's fun to just get totally experimental sometimes! That's why I love self portraits. When I shot this set, in my mind I was hoping for more daylight... alas it's the winter time and I didn't arrive at my hotel until about 3:30PM... and the sun was completely gone by 4:45pm! But the dark moody vibe worked out well, in fact at the end of this set you can see a few images I shot from the same angle the next morning, i had time to do my makeup and everything... and I still like the dark, no mak...

I read a meme online that said something like... the timeline of a creative person is "gifted kid" in the beginning, "endless burnout" for the main portion of working life, and "weirdo with a home studio" for the last few decades. Interestingly, I shot these with blue lighting and in the editing room, warming them up to enhance the skin tone turned out to be the magic I was truly looking for!! Enjoy these edgy shadowy artistic shots ;) tell me if they made you feel something...

The past year has really tested me. From the high of shaving my head with my mom at the beginning of her cancer journey... to the uncertainty of today... wondering if she has a few months left... or if she will be able to defeat this cancer and live a long, happy life! I have been learning to not allow the pain of others drag me into a depression. It's been really hard dealing with possibly losing my mom, and wanting to be so close to her that I may be smothering her... but to see her roller ...

I am hitting the road from Phoenix to San Francisco today! I've been helping take care of my mom along with my sister here for the past month and a half. I feel anxious leaving her, but she seems to be doing well enough to function independently for now. She said if she needs me back in town, she will book me a flight asap to come back, but she wants me to live my life and do what I have to do as well... so off to San Fran to model for a bunch of photographers! Please wish me luck... and plea...

I am always experimenting with my hair now!! I am not used to styling it each day, but I learned that I must when it's a pixie cut!! Long hair (ironically) was a lot less styling, but I am loving having short hair :) Here's a new selfie with my hair gelled like a 20s flapper! It looks darker when it's gelled like this
