Here's a look at the process I went through in making this image.

Here's another year+ old piece that I did for the art book that never was. Bummer that the project got canceled, but happy I can finally post these.

I took the opportunity to play around with some styles/techniques, and for this one, I went the painterly route. I really enjoyed working on it at the time, though looking back now, I see some stuff I'd fix. That being said, I wont be going back to change it; what's done is done. Just need to do more painterly work in the future!!

Sheath Tug - process images

Here's a look at the process I went through in making this image. I kept the sketch layer on in the final piece, set to some low opacity overlay under the inks, as I felt it helped give the image more depth...or something

So this was done a little over a year ago. It was originally going to be a submission for a sheath themed art book, that unfortunately never got off the ground. Used a friends character that I had designed previously for another small piece.

Hot diggity! In just a couple days, I will be flying out to Thailand (ko samui) to visit family for 3 weeks. Really looking forward to the extended break from my regular work cramming routine. So don't expect any commission updates or posts for the rest of this month. However, I've scheduled some stuff to be posted while I am gone, it will be available to $3 tier and up.

Hoping that while I am gone, I can draft up some juicy illustrations. Maybe even flesh out a comic. I'd love to come ...

Zal and Willow - Commission

Finished commission for zwerewolf. What a comfy place to be!

I lost the old brush settings for my most used brushes since switching comps and programs. So now I'm trying to make some new and improved brushes for myself. I really liked the new inking brush I made, but now I realize there's a bit toooo much texture in it, as coloring got to be a fill-in-the-gaps hassle.

Here's an in progress look at the shading process. This is the point I stopped at last night. Today I have been refining everything and pushing those values. Hope to have the finished piece posted tomorrow!

Fell behind scheduled a bit, but determined to get this done in the next two days. Since getting a new comp, I switched to sai 2 and have been enjoying it. I had to make myself a new inking brush and I'm super happy with this one

I got a request for "Heart at her most tomboy" and while I'm not sure I captured that exactly, I'm she would have grown up riding dirt bikes in the desert with the neighbor boys. And still does.

Major thank you to all the folks who bid on this YCH. It was a fun one and I'm glad the theme went over so well. I'm thinking about doing another one someday, and possibly including some actual transformation and or just making it more lewd.

flats and inks - plushy ych

running a bit behind schedule cuz I lost a day of work but it's getting there! Here's a look at the flats (and inks as well in the attachments).

Colors are often a challenge with ych's, this time around there was ALOT of brown and grey, so that one super colorful pinata bear is threatening to steal the spotlight. I hope the colors I chose for the background/bed are helping to balance it out. I also don't want that pupper in the main spot to get lost.

Gus and Dice - just the shading

Nearly finished with this big commission. Thought it was sorta neat to look at the image with only the lines and shading, to see what goes on top of those flats.

Thought I posted this yesterday, but I guess not!

Had a few hours to work yesterday. Figuring out the shading and such. Small chance I'll work on it this weekend, but if not, I won't be able to get back to it till next week. Kinda hate having to wait so long in between working. A lil bit of time is good, but a lot of time and I wind up wanting to redo everything :/

Blocking in the values

When I went to rough out the background, I ended up laying down down some rough shading to the sketch. Helped me get a better sense of space and plan out my colors. This will be useful for reference later, after I've done the flats and am ready to render the light and values.
