EDIT: and here is the color version! The sharp-eyed among you will notice that I've replaced "Munich" with "Vienna". There's no deep reason for this, I was just thinking about Vienna and realized that it would absolutely be right up our fancy boy's alley. I'm sure he also visited and enjoyed Munich (as have I!) but I wanted to put it in and didn't want to add to the list any more than I already had.

Here's page 3, everyone! Cheyenne got me the colors in time, but I took a long time lettering the page anyway. Sorry about that, it's all my fault.
Once again, I've posted Phil's layout, Cheyenne's partial drawing and Cheyenne's wonderful final art. I think it's fun to see the progress.

I thought it would be good to show you the bones of one of these pages. Here's Cheyenne's line art partway through his process. Next, you'll see what Phil sent him as a storyboard/layout page. A lot of circles and teeth, as you can see! After that comes proof that Phil hasn't lost his ability to draw: the character designs for our two new monster friends.

It sounds like Cheyenne might have something for next week. I don't want to get my hopes up, but I can't help but be a little excited about that.
Here is the final version of the Seven Snails! I love Cheyenne's color choices, he really outdid himself.
Phil is still on some pretty heavy painkillers and he's hating life. At least the weather is nice!

Well. We're now out of pre-prepped pages. I suggested that Phil draw something with his left hand, and when he gave me this I thought he might have been being bad on purpose, but he swears he did his best.

Well, there isn't much going on here at the moment, besides handling Kickstarter stuff and doctor appointments and such. So here's an extra picture of Jim the corn snake. EDIT: I went to the doctor and got my eyes dilated today, and they now hate me. Before that, we saw a squirrel carrying a baby almost as big as itself, it walked right up to Phil and I thought it was going to ask for a treat, but then it kept going past him and through the alley on the side of our house. Just passing through, I suppose. It was pretty cool.

Ahoy! We're back with the latest page. Phil just finished it, and it's getting a bit late, so I'm going to letter it tomorrow.
In addition to the gallons of delicious salsa he's been churning out, Phil has a HUGE pot of just tomatoes cooking down on the stove. The house smells heavenly. Tomorrow I'm going to try a recipe for zucchini quiche I found. It will only make a small dent in the zucchini but it's something.

Well. I'm sorry we don't have a story page today. It seems it's Phil's turn to have surgery. His shoulder has been hurting him for some time now, and the doctors have finished all their MRIs and x-rays and voodoo, and so, a couple of weeks from now, they're going in. This is going to make our autumn even more interesting than it was already promising to be.

Hello again! Here's the art for Friday's page. I should have the words up sometime tomorrow. We are FINALLY getting the shipping for the last Kickstarter underway, what fun.
I think that next time I'm going to change up my Kickstarter model so I can get the books out the door faster. I have some ideas in that direction that I'm kind of excited about, but first I have to do this one.

I wish I were as cool as Tolkien and had a whole language worked out for the geisters. It's all nonsense, for the most part, so please don't put a lot of work into trying to figure it out. Phil says it makes it sound more "alien." suuuure...

I'm feeling a lot better! It's a good thing, too, because my youngest kid starts school again in a few days. Today we went out and bought some school supplies, apparently along with half of Seattle.

Hey! I got a vaccination booster, and also a flu shot, and I can definitely feel it. That's good, I hope it means that my immune system is busy making all those lovely antibodies!
But it also means I'm feeling gross. Yay!
