I've just finished reading the extended version of The Stand, and now I've had to swear off books until I get those pages in to the printer. No starting anything new until the work is DONE!

It was good, though. I'd never read any version of it even though I had a friend in high school who talked about it a LOT.

I'm off to a slow start on those pages for the printer, I'd best pick up my pace. 

I've been watching the BBC show Blandings, an attempt on P.G. Wodehouse's Blandings Castle stories. It's not up to the Jeeves and Wooster level, but I'm still enjoying it. After all, it does have the Empress, and I'm there for that. I'm happy to have my region-free dvd player. Thanks, Scarecrow Video!

Now that I'm home from the con, I'm diving into the serious crunch of getting the files ready for the printer. I need to finalize book 20, and retool books 1, 2, and 5 to bring them up to new standards. Mostly, as I've said before, that involves nicer page numbers. Because page numbers are our friends.

Well. We are back from Comic-Con, and we are exhausted. It was wonderful to see everyone again, and the Masquerade show was fantastic. We never get tired of standing up there on stage trying to not mangle the pronunciation of the names of both contestants and characters. The costumes this year were amazing, and if you get a chance to watch the show, you should!

Just the line art for now. I do hope Phil gets far enough ahead that I don't have to sit at ComicCon trying to upload pages, it's always a bit stressful. This week we're enjoying the last in-house birthday of the year as well as finishing the last of the con business. So at least there's cake!

And now I have to cut this short, because I promised our bookkeeper that I'd get her the second quarter statements today, and I'm rapidly running out of today!

Well, here are two pages, because we are in the final panic stages of prepping for the San Diego ComicCon International (such fancy title wow) and things are...extremely exciting. We just shipped off a ridiculously heavy pallet that should be waiting for us when we get to our booth. (Booth 1700 visit us there hooray!) There's still a lot to do, but the pressure is slightly lower at the moment because that shipment has gone out. Tonight we're eating pizza and trying to remember to breathe.

I love them.

I'm very close to releasing the BackerKit pledge manager, I'm just double-checking the shipping charts because...yikes. I'm adjusting the basic book shipping to match my posted estimates (even if it means we take a bit of a hit) but yikes anyway.

After the backers have had a chance to look everything over I'll be opening the store, so I hope that goes well too!

Yesterday I was sitting outside with the kids, and a raccoon wandered into the yard, effectively cornering us by existing between us and the only gate and unlocked door. I took a small break today (BackerKit is endless data entry) and gave Jim the Snake a quail egg as a treat. He didn't know what it was, but he knew he wanted it. After a lot of work (he tried very hard!) he figured out how to eat it and now he's searching the box he found it in for more. It's amazing how wide snakes can open their mouths! He's a happy guy now.

After a lovely rainy month, things are starting to get hot here in Seattle. Darn. At least the weather looks nice, but I do like the mild temperatures we've been having, and (most of) the plants are happy! The Seattle Times is warning us to go looking for green tomato chutney recipes, since the nightshades will have a shorter growing season this year and thus will most likely be sad little plants.

Today we had yet another birthday, this time we made the frosting with the pudding in. Everybody has their favorite cake / frosting combination and types! We got takeout ramen and I got two ramen eggs, so yes, it was a good day. The ramen eggs from Kizuki are heavenly. (Phil doesn't like eggs, so I always get his.)

I get a lot of projects that come in, get partially done, then have to be half-packed up and set out of the way so I can do something more urgent on my work table.
