Episode Update

Hi folks, I just wanted to let you know that the next episode will be released on either Tuesday or Wednesday this week, rather than Sunday 3rd as planned. Apologies for the delay - there are quite a lot of little details that I want to get right, and that has meant I've been spending more time "filming" than anticipated.

Hope you enjoy the end result this week!

Next Episode!

Hi folks, this next episode is going to be quite technical. It was a life-and-death situation that very nearly ended in disaster. Reading the accident report, I was floored by how unlikely this particular set of failures was, and how debilitating it was when it occurred.

Any guesses what incident this is?

Tip: There were 6 pilots on board...

What HAPPENED inside this cockpit? Air France 11

On April 5th, 2022, an Air France Boeing 777 on approach to Paris’ Charles DeGaulle airport encountered serious flight control difficulties. The fate of all 192 people on board rested on the pilots’ ability to regain control of their apparently deranged aircraft. The ordeal was transmitted to ATC over the radio as alarms blared in the cockpit, and the plane rocked from side to side. How did the pilots get into this situation? And, more importantly, how would they get out of it?

DANGER in New York!! What went wrong on this passenger jet?

New York City, March 5th, 2015. A Delta Airlines MD-88 is on final approach to Runway 13 at La Guardia international airport.

The city is being battered by a snowstorm, and the pilots of this flight are cutting it close with their decision to land. Their aircraft is heavy, the runway is short, and when they break out of the clouds just seconds before landing, they discover that it’s covered with snow. There is now no margin for error.

If the pilots make any mistakes,...

MH370 Special Episode

Hi guys, in a few months I'll be releasing a special episode on the disappearance of MH370 in March 2014. I am in the planning stages of that episode now, and I got thinking - I want to make this episode really special. I want to make an episode of a type and quality that has not been done by any aviation incident channels on YouTube to date.

So, I'd love to get your opinion as Patrons of this channel. Would you like me to do the MH370 episode in my usual format, just a bit longer...

What REALLY caused this plane to crash into a French island? Inex Adria 1308

On December 1st, 1981, a McDonnell Douglas MD-82 carrying 173 tourists made its approach to Ajaccio airport on the French island of Corsica.

This was the pilots’ first time flying into this particular airport, and they were unfamiliar with the area. As the aircraft descended into the clouds above the island, a series of misunderstandings began to take place between the pilots and air traffic control. Minute by minute these misunderstandings began to compound.

The story Ine...

This plane hit WHAT?? American 1572

On November 12th, 1995, an American Airlines MD-83 carrying 78 passengers and crew is making its final approach to Bradley International airport in Connecticut. It’s running late, and the crew are eager to make it to the airport. The area is blanketed by torrential rain and turbulence, and the two pilots are struggling to keep the aircraft on course. The winds are so strong that the control tower had to be evacuated, and is now occupied by a lone supervisor who hasn’t manned a tower in ye...

Next Episode!

Hi Patrons, I'm really looking forward to bringing this next episode to you. I've had to pick my jaw off the floor a few times while reading the cockpit voice recorder transcript.

This is definitely of of the most interesting stories that I've come across, and I can't wait to see what you think of the resulting video.

I'm going to go quite in-depth as there is a lot to cover, so it will be releasing towards the end of next week.

See you then!

The Mystery of Thai 311

On July 31st, 1992, a Thai Airways Airbus A310 carrying 113 passengers and crew mysteriously vanished over the Himalayan mountains in Nepal. There had been no distress signal from the pilots.

Days later, the wreckage was discovered miles from anywhere the plane should have been flying. How had the crew of this flight ended up so far off course? When investigators analysed the flight data recorder and cockpit voice recorder, they were baffled.

For years, flight 311 would serve as a...

What kind of incidents would you like to see more of?

Hi Patrons 😊

I am planning out the next few episodes and it got me wondering - what aspects of the videos do you most enjoy, and what would you like to see more of?

Currently I am focusing on incidents with a significant human factors component, and especially those where there is a prolonged problem-solving or troubleshooting element. These incidents are the most interesting to me, and they also lend themselves to storytelling📝

However, I am always keen add variety to...

Desperate Escape: American 965

A few days before Christmas in 1995, the pilots of an American Airlines Boeing 757 wound up lost over the Andes mountains in South America. Under pressure to make it to the airport quickly, they began to make mistakes. What started out as a simple lapse in judgement, quickly snowballed into a series of critical errors, each one compounded by the one before it. In a few short minutes, these mistakes would result in the deaths of nearly everyone onboard.

This is the story of American Airl...

Next episode out soon!

Patrons! The special episode on American 965 is coming out in the next 1-2 days. I believe it’s the most in-depth look at this incident on the web. It’s also the longest episode I’ve done to date, with a run time of over 30 minutes. If all you’ve seen of this incident is the ACI episode, you’re in for a treat!

Apologies for the delay on this one. I’ll be able to resume normal scheduling from this week, so you can expect weekly or near-weekly videos for the rest of the year....

TRAPPED above the clouds and running out of TIME | Air India Flight 101

On September 11th, 2018, an Air India Boeing 777 approaching JFK Airport in New York experienced a cascade of electrical failures which disabled numerous instruments in the cockpit. In poor weather, and running low on fuel, the four pilots of the flight originating in New Delhi in India, had to make some crucial decisions. Should they attempt an unfamiliar type of approach into New York, or should they risk taking their electronically crippled aircraft to an airport further afield, where ther...

American 965

Hi Patrons!

I'd love to get your opinion on something.

While I generally try to cover incidents you may not have seen before, every now and then there is a crash which is so interesting that I really want to cover it. One such crash is American 965, which took place in Colombia in 1995.

I am thinking about doing an in-depth episode into this crash (20+ minutes), which will explore the events and their causes in a way which I hope will allow you to learn something...

Patreon-only sneak peak into this week's video ✈️

Any guesses which incident this is?

This incident gets way less coverage than a certain other similar one, despite being just as interesting, in my opinion.

I'm just putting the finishing touches on the script now, and I'll start the "filming" and editing this weekend.

It releases to Patrons this Sunday, and then on Tuesday to the public.

Hope you guys enjoy ❤️

Speculation was rife after the accident, with some saying that a software glitch may have downed the aircra...

SHOCKING Close Call in Dubai ?!? Emirates 524

On the night of January 9th, 2022, two Emirates Airlines Boeing 777’s nearly collided on the runway at Dubai International Airport. This was the second close call at Emirates in less than a month, with the previous incident involving another 777 at Dubai, which nearly crashed into the Dubai suburb of Deira shortly after takeoff. If early reports are correct, the reason that the January 9th incident happened is shocking - one of the aircraft, Emirates flight 524, bound for Hyderabad in India...

What really caused Italy’s WORST air crash? | Linate Airport Disaster

On October 8th, 2001, the worst air accident in Italian history occurred at Milan’s Linate airport in the North of Italy. What makes this crash particularly galling is how predictable and preventable it was. This accident was not a result of a series of unfortunate coincidences, or of a chance failure. Rather, it was the logical culmination of years of complacency, and a reckless attitude to safety by the Italian airport authorities.

This episode investigates the causes behind this en...

TERRIFYING Close Call: Emirates 777 Nearly Crashes on Takeoff in Dubai

How did an Emirates Boeing 777 carrying up to 354 people nearly crash just after takeoff from Dubai International Airport just before Christmas in 2021?

Full details of the incident have yet to emerge, but early reports, as well as a NOTAM (Notice to Airmen) from Emirates, suggests that an over-dependence on automation by the pilots may be the culprit.
