Why I love this short sequence:
This opening movement feels so great for my legs, from my knees to my ankles and interior hip. It welcomes the challenge for balance while creating deep connections to root quality. It allows surrender and strength to mingle in the transitions, and it creates equanimity in the mind while expanding attention.

Here is my personal asana practice. I've been tuning in to how my body feels and there is a lot of extra tension in my back, so this sequence is for a healthy spine. Check out the arm variations for headstand :) They really helped realign how my shoulders support my body.

As I've posted these last two videos from my practice, I'm inspired to create a "Sunriser" guided yoga series to share with you next week as I continue to rise before the sun. I like the effect of having a mic close to me so that my voice can be quiet and the natural sounds of my movements in my body on these black stained wood floors and the brief outside sounds like a soaring airplane are prominent characters in the experience of continual momentary presence.

This might just be the lonnnngest forward fold of your life... but I bet you can do it with me or at least watch to learn how action is initiated and then reflected through coordinates in our body. Develop upper body core strength and gain foundations for Alignment while understanding how actions organize and reorganize with movement and Asana.

This is an amazing class and I’d love for you to try it! I was the yoga model while Zoe lead the sequence from behind the camera. Follow along with it this week! And if you want to get creative, play with the “ten toe stretch” entry into Eagle Pose (Garudasana) that I demonstrated in the previous video. I really like coming in and out of Eagle from the low position. This video teaches the traditional entry from standing.

So as you can see I modified the entry into Eagle, coming from a Garudasana base (legs crossed with deep toe stretch) and then found my way into the power of standing balance. It was an amazing release for the peroneals of my outer calf (winding leg) and quads (standing leg). Give it a try. Like I said at the beginning of this...it starts with a deep TOE stretch. All ten of them!

If it weren't for my yoga practice, I know that I would not be as healthy and happy with an active lifestyle, as I am now. It's because my yoga practice will heal and prevent injuries that accumulate over time from high impact fitness.
