For this next EPL, I'm asking you to choose from these solo albums by musicians more known for the work in classic bands. I'm quite interested in all of these...which one should I get to first?

For our first Extended Play Lounge episode of 2025, I'm pleased to present my full album listen to Brave by Marillion. I was blown away on all fronts with this album...story, music, pacing, performance, intelligence...all of it. I think this is one of the impressive and engrossing concept albums that I've heard so far. I hope you enjoy!

Hey y'all!
Happy new year! To start off 2025, I'm really in the mood to hear a Marillion album. I have just been gifted the new Deluxe Edition of This Strange Engine. And, we already have Marbles, Brave, and With Friends from the Orchestra on the master list. So, this time, help me select from one of these four albums from this deserving band.

With our last Behind the Score episode of the year, we're listening to and analyzing three classic original jazz compositions by Vince Guaraldi. Linus & Lucy, Skating, and Christmastime is Here were all included on the soundtrack album to the 1965 television special A Charlie Brown Christmas. And, along with the rest of Vince's arrangements, these songs have become integral to the Christmas experience for most Americans. I hope you enjoy this episode!

As we close out a great year of Extended Play Lounge episodes, I think this album has a bit of music for everyone. The story and concept are quite engaging, taking us through the reading of a patriarch's last will and testament in front of family who get news they weren't expecting. It's an engrossing psychological ride, and the music ranges to meet the story's needs as only Opeth can. I hope you enjoy!

This is a special EPL episode. As I will explain in the video, this is the last album that I received from our friend Thom before he passed. It's the first solo album from his favorite musician in his favorite band. And, after a year, I'm finally taking off the plastic wrapping and listening to Wet Dream by Richard Wright. I thoroughly enjoyed the album, and I hope you enjoy as well.
