Well, I'm sorry to report that I was not well enough yesterday to get enough work done to finish this challenge. I was really looking forward to posting the Amazon link on the last day and celebrating the victory of the One Week Picture Book, but I can't control illness. I will say that I was definitely on track to finishing on time, and I still intend to finish the book but I'm going to take my time on it a little more and focus on other projects as well. One Week Picture Book Challenge: Day 4

Well, Thursday was a scratch. I drew one whole picture in my project and immediately feel ill with a 24hr stomach bug that had me either in the bathroom or in bed. I emerged to watch Sumo Wrestling at 630, threw up, and died again for 15 hours. 

So I'm not saying that being sick has killed this challenge, but the pace I was keeping in order to finish it has been completely undermined and probably shouldn't be doubled to catch up today, so we'll see how it goes. If I get it done by ...

One Week Picture Book Challenge Day 3 Report

Yesterday I had an all-day school visit which was a ton of fun! I talked about graphic novels and drew for them live in front of the class with their input. After a full day of drawing on demand, however, I didn't have a lot of stamina for drawing when I got home. Still, I managed to draw two new pages and color in a couple others. So progress is being made! I've done a little more editing to the story/planned artwork. Intended to get all the linework done today but at about 7pm my drawing muscle cramped up so I started coloring instead. All progress counts, right? One Week Picture Book Challenge Day 2

Made some good progress yesterday. I finished the dummy and I think I've finished the script. Since I develop both simultaneously, I usually do my final draft of the manuscript while I draw. I've uploaded my dummy so far, so you can see how it's going. My dummy involves roughing out all the illustrations in blue lines and then going through and replacing them with finished images as I go. I'm using photoshop and inDesign which are both Adobe programs.

One Week Picture Book Challenge: Day 1

Day 1: Aside from the work I've done on the cover in the preview image, I've begun the process by writing a script and creating a dummy of the picture book I intend to make. The You Are a Writer series is not a complex beast, which is the reason I'm using it to undertake this challenge.

WIPWed: Mystic Quest

Here's  an abandoned project from over ten years ago. I played Final Fantasy Mystic Quest while I was in college as a wind-down game. It was kinda dumb, but I had fun with it and got it in my head to do a series of comics about how silly it was. I've gotten lots of requests to draw Harley. This is my first attempt. I like it, but I'm not sure it's dynamic and wacky enough for the character. We'll try again, or maybe adapt this one. I'm not sure yet! But here's my official first artwork of her.

WIPWED Hulk

I have been super busy this summer. I published one book and am soon publishing another, I've been composing st least 3 more for 2022, and I'm back to selling at con tables. My next convention is Planet Comic Con in Kansas City and I'm working hard on some artwork relevant to the guests attending. This is going to be a picture of The Incredible Hulk lifting a car to save something sweet and tiny. A kitten maybe? What do you think?
