There are photo shoots that feel difficult and I come out of it not feeling optimistic about the results. Thankfully those are really rare. There are only about three photo shoots that I've done that I haven't ever released. Keeping up the schedule of releasing regular downloads does add a little pressure and sometimes forces me to lower my standards slightly.

Out of curiosity I just went to the analytics page of my website to see which downloads sold the best this year. I can't see full analytics but I can see the top three. In number one spot was the gorgeous and delightful Dave. I've known Dave through friends for several years now and he is just one of the nicest guys. It is lucky I'm a morning person generally because an outdoor shoot usually means getting up really early to catch the nice light and avoid crowds. There are times I've photographed people where we shouldn't have a nude model, legally speaking so discretion is key.

A while back I showed you the before and after editing on this shoot with Sam. He's a performer based in Perth who came to Sydney to work with a few photographers and I was the really mean one that made him get naked, in Winter outdoors and then get in water. Very cold water. It's been a long time since I've released a new image as a limited edition print but the image above is one that I'm very happy with. There have been many times in the 16 years that I've been doing male nude photography where I've realised how lucky I am. Not lucky in the way that most people assume, in that I get to be witness to a lot of beautiful men not wearing any clothing, although that is definitely a perk of the job.
