This is another blast from the past shoot. I can't remember how Kieran and I met but again I think it was through my (now gone) blog Aussielicious. He's a very uninhibited man who was only 20 or 21 at the time. The first time we worked together I nearly froze the poor man to death in Bronte Beach sea pool at 1:30am in early Autumn. This was another shoot in the middle of the night because we were shooting in the underground car park for the complex I was living in.
A friend of mine came...

Sam came to Sydney from the other side of the country to work with a few different photographers. Sadly it was just as our Winter hit and this shoot was COLD, for him at least.
He was a real trouper though and his pale skin, against the rocks and the dark blue of the ocean looked really good and definitely inspired the very cool toned colour treatment I did on the series. It gives it an almost monochromatic look and you can almost feel how cold he was on the day.
The full do...

Your 20's is the time to be a little reckless and travel the world with as few responsibilities as possible. That's exactly what this young man, Leonardo was doing with his time in Sydney. with his long curly hair, many tattoos and some piercings he certainly looked the part for his bohemian lifestyle.
Leonardo had never posed for a photographer before, and certainly not nude but on the day he looked so comfortable and gorgeous in the early morning light. By the end of the shoot he had ...

My 2015 series "Tribal" was all photographed while I was living in another apartment sharing with a fellow photographer. It was not unusual to have our dining table moved and this photography studio setup in place. My housemate at the time photographed a bit of fetish work so I never quite knew what I might be walking into.
My Tribal series was influenced by the various tribal aesthetics around the world but I was very careful not to specifically reference any cultures in particular. Cu...

I am fairly typical of most creative people, I could dissect everything I would do differently or what is wrong with the shoot for hours but with every creative project, there comes a time where you just have to release it to the world. Looking back at old shoots, sometimes it's fun to rework and sometimes you just leave well enough alone.
This shoot of Billy came about a couple of years ago after talking fo...

Take one beautiful dancer, add some coloured powder and some oil. Then add a soft directional light and let him move. It’s all I can do to keep up and capture the beautiful poses that reveal themselves.
Jacopo could have stood perfectly still and his big, soulful eyes and angular features would have done a beautiful job, but he was magic in motion and I was just along for the ride. Jacopo is a contracted danc...

This is the behind the scenes video for the Lost Pirates shoot that I recently released as a download. There is always a danger working with new models because you don't know what they are like to work with. There is added danger when you pair up two models who don't know each other. David and Adam had never met and before this shoot I hadn't physically met either of them either so there were a lot of unknowns.
Thankfully they were both great to work with. Adam has a slightly chaotic en...

A couple of weeks ago I finally got back in the studio for the first time in months. Marko is a guy I met through friends a couple of years ago and recently we were chatting and I discovered he loves origami and makes some beautiful elaborate origami masks. We had discussed doing a shoot a while back but it was his idea to do a shoot based around his masks.
They look of the masks is a surprising mix of medieval, glam, fetish and delicacy. The metallic gold that he used in these masks cr...

This was a shoot that nearly didn't happen. It was booked for a Sunday mid-morning. The studio was locked in and I woke up to a message from the model saying he couldn't make it so I put a call out on Instagram and Facebook asking if anyone was available and keen to do a shoot. Troy responded to my call and saved the day.
As we discussed in our Model Chat video last week, we were already planning to do the beach shoot the next weekend but this became our first collaboration. I'll be the...

Jacopo is an Italian dancer I'd been chatting to for a while about doing a shoot and we finally made the shoot happen nearly two weeks ago. We did two different looks that will result in two different downloads. This one will be released in just over a week.
Working with dancers is always a joy. People that are so aware of their bodies and how to move them are a blessing. There isn't much about working with beautiful nude men that isn't pretty awesome if I'm really honest, but that cont...

In November 2009 I hired a studio for the very first time. I had absolutely zero training in studio lighting or working with a model in a studio environment. In a stark white studio with the infinity curved backdrop it's a very different environment to all the options available to you when you shoot in an outdoor location.
Brad was a guy that contacted me through my blog and volunteered to model. He had done a photo shoot back in his home country of Canada but had never seen the images....

Volume five of In My Bed is Chris. We had been talking about doing a shoot for approximately 18 months and we finally made the shoot happen. He isn’t a regular in front of the camera partly because he has Cerebral Palsy, which in his case means he has some mobility issues and uses crutches. But a nice simple shoot lounging around looking hot in a bed worked really well. As you can see he is a g...

This is the first of a semi-regular series where I do an interview with my models. In this chat with Troy we chat about the three shoots we've done together and I try and get his take on what it's like to do a shoot from the other side of the camera. It doesn't hurt that Troy is a good mate and he was pretty candid.
I hope you enjoy the chat. Please leave me a comment if you like it. Your feedback helps me work out what you guys want to see here on this page.

Many years ago when I photographed Andy, the light was hitting this part of the beach beautifully and also shining off his flawless skin. We weren't even on the nude beach, rather still on the beach next to it where people aren't supposed to be nude but there was no one around and the opportunity was too good not to take.
This is another image, cropped to the right proportions for you to use as your computer desktop wallpaper. I'm not sure if anyone does that anymore but maybe as I rele...

Is being inside a cocoon comforting or claustrophobic? It’s different for everyone and even what was once comforting and safe can begin to feel constricting and limiting. In this series Shon breaks free of the restrictions of the cocoon and emerges looking beautiful, strong and ready to take on the world.
This was one of those shoots that was unpredictable. I had no way of testing how the light would go t...

Showing my work before and after the editing process is a daunting situation and maybe I shouldn't be doing it but I think it gives you an added insight into what happens with a photo shoot. Hopefully it doesn't kill the magic of the final images for you.
Two days ago I told the story of how this shoot came to happen. Now you can see what was shot on the day and how the final images turned out. Firstly I hired a battered old crown from a costume hire shop nearby and it turned out to be ...

Early on in my photographic ventures it would be months and months between photo shoots because finding willing models was difficult. I joined a networking site for models and photographers which helped but things really changed when Instagram took off. I could approach people with a more thorough portfolio right there at their fingertips. It became so simple to look at my the accounts of people I know and click through to their friends accounts if I thought they were suitable.

When these photos were taken in 2016 I was intrigued by the idea of adults playing like children. We aren't encouraged to just "play" as adults. There always seems to be a goal or end result required. This shoot is about the whimsical imaginary lands that we believed so much when we were young, but with nude adults.
These two are playing at being pirates, lost and shipwrecked on a deserted island. As kids often do and as you would living on a tropical island with no one around, cl...

On Australia Day last year, Troy and I set out for our second photographic collaboration. It was going to be the first but a week before, Troy very kindly stepped in to fill a gap after another model had to pull out of a shoot. That will feature at some stage on this page.
Thankfully Troy is a morning person and was more than happy to get up early for the 45 minute drive to the National Park for this shoot, as long as I bought him a coffee.
I use the closer nude beaches to h...

I can't remember where I met Philippe, whether it was on a model/photographer networking site or through Instagram, but when I met him to discuss a shoot I knew I wanted to work with him. He stands well over six feet tall and his shoulders were nearly as wide. What I wasn't expecting was for him to tell me he is Ukrainian. I'm no expert but he doesn't strike me as a cliched looking Ukrainian. Whatever his birthplace, he's a stunning man.
We did the shoot down at my closest nude beach an...

Alfie Arcuri was the winner of The Voice Australia in 2016 and a couple of years ago I was lucky enough to meet him through friends. It turns out he's also a completely delightful human. You hear of so many celebrities being rude or arrogant but Alfie is just none of those things.

Nathan is a mate of mine and I've photographed him a few times now. This was at an event about 6-7 years ago where I recreated (and evolved) some body painting I did on him. I had done very similar body paint on him for my third solo exhibition, TRIBE which I launched online in 2015. I was asked if I wanted to do a live body painting session in the window of a gallery in Sydney as part of a group exhibition a few months later.
Nathan is such a good sport and obviously looks sensat...
