As you can see here, it took me until the coloring phase to realize that Mae wouldn't take her shoes off while undressing myself. It's not exhibitionism if you don't have your sneakers on, after all!

Since I wasn't able to work for a lot of the month, these commissions were very stretched out throughout a few weeks. While that's not ideal, it did allow me to put a lot of care and attention while making them. Being so focused on details helped me lose sight of the bad events for a while, and I'm really grateful for that. Now, I have tons of work to catch up on, but it fills me with excitement to know that my next few days are going to be filled to the brim with art :)

Recently I've been experimenting with this sort of more polished kind of warm-up sketch, where I just keep working on a colored sketch to add some fun details or complex lighting (while still keeping myself under a time limit). I actually quite like the kind of vibes of these pieces, so I was thinking of offering it as a cheaper commission option! Let me know if you'd be interested in something like that!

I've been wanting to improve my colors, so I for these commissions, I did some studies on illustration with a similar lighting/mood before tackling the coloring. I'm happy to say this approach allowed me to learn a lot, even though I still feel like my colors are in a "growing pain" phase.
That being said, coloring is so much fun and it gives me so much satisfaction to slowly learn to do the stuff that I admired into the art of more competent artists!! :)

As you can see, I had a different idea for this illustration's background as I was drawing it! I was thinking of having Cain and Percy stand in a field of cute mushrooms, since they're merchants in a fantasy world, and I thought that could have given the scene a cutesy witchy vibe!
