Chapter 52: Tactics

Strolling in [Thurgau]’s streets, Nisha was happily marveling at everything, from the smallest flower growing in between two disjointed pavements to the largest building blocking the sun, she was freely discovering a brand new world.

She had kept her promise not to leave the Dharnas Estate before having understood all of the old butler’s teachings, but it did not mean that she hadn’t been throwing longing glances at the outside world, being constrained in a golden cage did not quite ...

Chapter 51: A New Playground

The first thing Nisha noticed upon waking up was that she was in a comfortable bed.

Buried up to her neck in soft sheets, she felt warm, and delightedly curled up under her blanket to sleep for a bit longer.

Then, she realized that there was an unfamiliar being in the room.

Albeit unwilling to leave the bed and shake off her last tinge of slumber, and truly awakening herself, the elvish girl had unfortunately no other way to know if she was safe, since she had fallen fell aslee...

Chapter 51 Pre-Edit

To show you how a chapter looks like before and after it went through the skillful hands of Tyxev,  have a look at the raw version of ch51. I'll upload the edited version when it's done, so some things may be tenative to change.

Chapter 51: A New Playground

The first thing Nisha noticed was the cozy comfort of a bed.

Buried up to her neck, she was warm and curled together under a blanket.

For the second thing she was aware of, it was the presence of...

Chapter 50: Resemblance

Chatting to pass the time in a luxurious salon was a strange experience for Nisha.

Everything felt so unreal: from the city and its huge herds of people, to what had happened at the temple … only now did she truly realize that she was in [Thurgau], the place that had seen her grandpa go through so much life experiences that he had wished for her to go there as well.

Luthais wasn’t with them at the moment, but the dragon girl was in the main house of the Dharnas family, which was ...

Chapter 49: The Dharnas Estate

Looking through the open window of the carriage, Nisha was admiring the wonders outside. Without the overwhelming input from all sides, the elvish girl was able to focus on specific things. She discovered more and more of the city while the party was waiting to arrive at their final destination.Annabelle and Lydia - sitting across on the bench opposite to her - were more than happy to just watch their little sister with excited eyes. The results of the ceremony in the temple were still fresh in ...

Chapter 48: Seven Stars

Back inside the room were Nisha had received the robe, the high priest was currently staring at her with wonder in his eyes.

Annabelle and Lydia were much less reserved, and hugged their younger sister as tears streamed from their eyes, “You’re alright now, Nisha? Tell me that everything’s okay now again!”

Placing her hand on the silver and golden seven pointed star where Nisha’s wound had been, Lydia was only rewarded with the soothing feeling of smooth skin beneat...

Chapter 47: Soleil's Mercy

Taking the robe that the high priest had handed to her, Nisha examined the white fabric closer while the other women in her group left the room, presumably to give her some semblance of privacy while she discarded her yellow dress fully.

A year of being blind had taught her to rely on more than just her eyes; her small and delicate white hands explored the garment, examining every crease and corner of the temple robe.

The white clothing must have been in the closet for a long time al...

Chapter 46: God's Servants

Nisha was almost ready to explore the interior of the Hall of Light while she waited for the priest to return — the solemn air inside not deterring her from exploring more of the place — when she felt a trickle of blood escape the bandage.

As she lifted a hand to her wound, she contorted her face into a grimace; the excitement from earlier had repressed any pain from the wound, but now she was able to feel the pain of the gaping injury again.

Lifting a hand and shifting it under ...

Chapter 45: Temple Visit

A steady stream of people., carriages and mounted riders was flowing through the open gates of [Thurgau].

Smells, visual stimuli and other kinds of exciting novelties had invaded the injured dragon’s world, she helplessly tried to process the overwhelming amount of information on the carriage as it was heading to the gates; the left side seemed to be meant for people waiting to enter the city, the right side apparently reserved for people exiting Leandar’s capital.

Three groups o...

Chapter 44: City

Waking up, Nisha found her body aching once again.

However this time the pain was not related to her injury, but rather to the mass of hunger balled in her stomach.

Following her nose, the starving dragon spotted almost instantly the stone tablet filled with bowls of cold meat and vegetables.

Wolfing down the food, Nisha cleaned up the tray in record speed in her attempt to sate her hunger.

That sumptuous meal alone proved to be insufficient, as even after licking clean t...

Chapter 43: Medicus' Order

Sitting on the stairs, Nisha was trying to catch her breath, taking her time to this task so as to enjoy the sun on her skin.

She didn’t know for how long she had been asleep, but she felt that it must have been for quite some time for her to long for the sun's’ warmth to this extent.

She noticed that the swaying was not limited to the room she had woken up in, it seemed to affect the whole construction. Now that she was outside, the injured dragon could clearly see why: the buil...

Chapter 42: A Light Storm

A nasty gale hauling cold water passed by a patch of forest, the fierce wind raging, ripping branches from the trees.

As if the gates of heaven had bursted open under the hand of Typhis, the mighty God that resides in the eye of the cyclone, the windstorm picked up even more intensely, ravaging the woods.

Amidst this wild spectacle, a single area was remaining untouched, unaffected by both man’s effort and nature’s assaults.

The most intriguing point about the unscathed cir...

Chapter 41: Broken Ground

“I told you already, I can’t let you in! Now go away kid!”

Under a guardhouse built against the wall, Nisha was arguing with the soldier guarding the door.

After having followed the instructions of the various soldiers carrying supplies up the stairs, the clamor of the ongoing siege continuously leaking from the large stones separating her from the battlefield, the little girl had finally arrived in front of the former guard station, which now served as the main headquarter of ...

Chapter 40: Call it a Day

“Let’s go, we are done here. Would you mind telling me your name young girl?”

The wind was picking up, blowing a cold wind on the assaulted city which forecasted the fall of rain; the dragon was already able to smell the incoming storm.

Walking alongside Lance Corporal Hale, Nisha was admiring the efficiency displayed by the soldiers under the woman’s command; they quickly stowed away their shields and bows to reform the ranks, the last two soldiers in line taking the handcar...

Chapter 39: Hunting Season

Stepping past the boundary between light and dark felt very liberating to the dragon playing with her newest toy. Just earlier today she discovered her War’s Flame, she still didn’t fully understand all of its powers, and yet she already gained another power.

The darkness coiling around her like a living being, not like shadows at all. Urged by the runes dancing on her skin, Nisha brought a small piece of night into the day, it flared around her, the obsidian shard ...

Chapter 38: Regrouping

Inside the inn’s courtyard, Nisha stared angrily at the old innkeeper. His hesitation to let them inside his property almost cost her big sister’s life, a mistake the man was going to regret very dearly if there were any lasting damages going to remain on Annabelle.

“Man, show us a room. We paid, more than just gold, to keep you and this place safe. Now, lead the way.”

Unwilling to waste any more time on a coward, the dragon snarled at him, openly showing her hostility.

Chapter 37: Bloodshed

Awaiting the charging soldiers, her blades ready, Nisha’s heart was pumping violently; it was the first time she had consciously chose to face humans with the intent to kill.

The fiends were running towards her, but she was completely relaxed, feeling in another plane, where the time was flowing slower, she had so much time, she could scrutinize her opponents closely:

Five soldiers in total, coming at her in an open simple formation, two men flanking the leader on each side.

Chapter 36: War's Flame

By living in the cottage, Nisha had grown up relatively sheltered from human social interactions; curses were heard every now and then when someone had cut himself while cooking, or when a [Sapphire Cow] had stepped on a foot; but the constant amount of profanities coming from the General Blackport’s mouth came as a culture shock for her.

Neither Luthais nor the soldiers guarding the door seemed to be particularly disturbed by his crude manner of speech, they were probably used to it, ha...

Chapter 35: A City Under Siege

“Who’s going there?”

Luthais’ exclamation had prompted a reaction from the guards stationed above the gate, and a shiny metal helm appeared above the balustrade, glaring down pretentiously on the party.

“Identify yourself! If you are an enemy, I recommend you to start running now, or we’ll hit you down where you stand, Terus scum! Well, we’ll open fire even if you run, so it would be less bothersome if you don’t...”

To strengthen the threat, an arrow was shot ...

Chapter 34: Entering Blackquarry

The carriage was steadily advancing alongside the forest line, slowly getting away from the endless rows of tent, trying to avoid drawing any unwanted attention on itself.

Some scouts were bound to be scrutinizing the surroundings of the besieged [Blackquarry] at all times, however a single rider accompanying a cart probably wouldn’t make the enemy suspect something.

Nisha was still in awe in front of the unthinkable amount of humans packed in the same area, the possibility of their ex...

Setting camp at the agreed location, the group took a meager meal. Without a fire to cook the meat or warm the people sitting around, in fear of enemy scouts noticing them, the woods seemed to be hiding a hostile soldier behind every tree and brush.

The smell of smoked meat lingering in the air reminisced each of the resting travellers  different yet similarly meaningful memories.

Chapter 30: The Letter

To my dear Nisha Dharnas,

When you will receive this letter, I imagine I will not be with

you anymore. To tell you the truth, when I started writing this letter,

there was so much on my mind that I have been sitting here for a long

time, wondering what to say.

I’ve written the first line and your name over and over again, trying to find a good way to tell you what I need to. View Post

The attached video shows the creation process of one of my chapters, it was a lot of fun to interact with the readers while writing and I've enjoyed doing it.

As a reference, a Q&A session probably will have the same format, I'll write down your questions and my answers, while talking about it with you in the chat.
