Bot performance & update - last 7 days - 10/2/2021

As every Monday we look at the past week P/L to see if there's anything we need to look closely.

This post also includes updates about the bots.

Evaluation criteria

  • 1% daily: very good
  • 03-0.9% : moderate performance
  • <0.3% under performing, conservative

Let's have a look at the DCA bots I have running:

Binance.us bot factory - Zoom call outcomes

I'm really happy with our fist collaboration via Zoom. We had people from all over the world. I enjoyed a couple of beers :)

I really appreciate all the people that joined from US. This is exactly what needed to be done.

Let's summarise the outcomes and the actions we captured.

Outcomes & actions:

1) We've got a Mirinda-US version that we are going to be testing to confirm it's actually working as expected. We need to keep an eye on the deals it's openi...

First Zoom call collaboration - Tuesday 9th - 19hrs GMT +0 - Let's port bots to Binance.us

UPDATE 1: added zoom call direct link.

Let's meet up online on Tuesday to work together on porting some bots from the database from Binance.com into Binance.us.

What do we need?

Hopefully we can get at least one member to join on Tuesday from US. If that's you, make sure you are logged into 3commas and hide your funds, email details, anything sensitive...be prepared to share a screen with a draft bot.

How is it goin...

Request for Binance.us versions of DCA database bots

Guys, I need your help.

If you are currently using Binance.us and have managed to already create an “adapted” version of each of the bots from our database, can I ask you to share a comment below sharing the links?

I know many of you have already achieve some compatible versions, I just can’t remember who was it!

It’d be great to see if we can have a table with all of them.

If there were some small limitations we can still mention them but at least we can st...

Vespera and Stelara: first tests to manage a long term portfolio with bots

Let's mention the warnings first:

These bots are for testing, please only use the links to have a look.
I'm not using them to profit, I will be constantly changing the settings of them so I can't guarantee I'll be able to post every time I change it until the final design is settle.

The idea behind these two bots is very simple.

Let's say I have two tokens in my portfolio which I'm planning to hold long term:<...

Bots running - updates

Last week we introduced a separated discord channel with all bots running. The idea is to make much more easy to find at all times which bots I’m running and the fundings assigned. I also include a few requirements like, if it needs a special tier.

I didn’t send the update article las week to see if this approach could replace the usual “bots update” weekly article.

I’m sending this poll now to get see how you feel about that. Do you want to keep the “bots running“ d...

TTP Knowledge base - FAQ website (alpha)

Many of you have been requesting having a FAQ.

I've been meaning to have one since we started.

So this week I did the following things:

  • Bought the domain https://www.thetradingparrot.com/
  • Got an instance of Wordpress up and running
  • Paid for a "knowledge base" plugin which is going to allow you all to search and navigate very easily though all the FAQ...

Reminder: Running bots is risky, keep spare funds aside always

Running bots is risky, I repeat it every half an hour every time I have the opportunity and will continue doing so: in calls, articles, updates, chats, everywhere I can!

If the market did something extreme and fully unexpected, reacting to anything like...."Biden says we are going to ban BTC" or "Elon Musk says he hates BTC"....you should expect to hold a red bag for a week, a month or even more!!!

When I say I understand that risk I mean it.

But...

Advice for beginners

Guys, bots are risky and behave like mental if you look at them in the short term.

A piece of advice, don't look at what they are doing every 5 mins!!!

Leave them alone for a minute....for F$%^ sake! :D

Many new users with little experience invest **too much too soon** then they see 10% down and freak up and decide to close everything and cancel all subscriptions :D

To be a successful trader, investor, bot master...you must have proper discipline and control your emoti...

Get used to Pumps: be prepared and if you get lucky, 650% TP!

I'm setting up a smart trade for XRP potential pump. There's a group on telegram growing by tens of thousands of people each hour.

With Dodge and Gamestop, the new trend in town is very clear. People will start causing more financial riots organising pumps with groups of over a 100,000 investors turning any asset into a huge massive bomb of profit. 100% profits? no! that's nothing, get used to 1000% profit levels in a day.

So let's say you were holding...

Something huge about to happen, plan your next steps with the bots

I'm getting some signals firing announcing high volatility which doesn't surprise me as the catalyst we had (Elon Musk) managed to move the short-time trend away from bearish. RSI is overbought on multiple timeframes. Big volumes buying, big volumes selling. Speculation is going mad.

There can be two possible outcomes:

1) Bulls win: we go straight over 42K in a few days, even 50K is doable.

2) Bears win: if this was just another dead-cat bounce and we go back where we were (...

New test: Martyn, a potential better alternative to the "buy the dip" bot

Update 1 (28/1/2021): Using the RSI to stop the bot and at the same time the sell signal from supertrend didn't make much sense. The RSI will fire many times before the uptrend is completed not allowing the accumulator to catch all the profit possible on the way up. I'm removing the RSI signal from this test. Alternatives: I could embed the RSI overextended in the implementation of supertrend so while we are still on an uptrend of supertrend it will fire alerts for pausing an...

Should I open an account on FTX?

If you want my answer, I'd say yes.

Benefits:

  • Tokenised stocks and ETFs. Get access to bot trade stocks and ETFs using your 3commas account. Buy ARK funds ETF token, top performing ETF in the last years. This last one offered as a future.
  • BULL/BEAR pairs. Leverage tokens, similar to UP/DOWN in Binance. Many of the best performing and most popular signals on 3commas use these.
  • USD pairs. Same here, many marketplace signals use th...

How to manage red days like today

Executive summary:  I'm not considering to close any deal at a loss for now.

My approach for red days on deals with more than -20%

1) I assess if there's still the chance of further drop to decide between wait more or add funds to some deals (check article on how to add funds)

2) I assess if there's still the chance of further drop to decide between do nothing versus adding more "max active deals" so the bot ca...

Bots running and actions to take - update 25/1/2021

Technical Analysis

BTC is showing some signs of recover but we need to keep a close eye to the descending triangle. If this bearish structure manages to activate (below 30.5K and after confirmation) then we could see BTC drop to a worst case scenario of 19.5K. Breaking above the top level of the triangle will allow us to reach higher targets like 37.1K where there's a strong accumulation of historical volume together with strong area of support/resistance.

Bitcoin bull signal 3 days testing update

As mentioned last week I started testing the "BITCOIN BULL" signal last week.

I think I paid €1. It seems they have increased the price to €9 now.

This signal supports multiple BTC pairs and it captured my attention initially for two reasons:

1) it profits in BTC which is something many people are looking after. Instead of accumulating USD which keeps devaluating with time since...

Setup a grid bot like a pro!

Update 1: Apologies, I made a mistake on the grid bot video I published.

When you have two coins that are competitors (example: ADA and ETH), it is a good idea to have a grid profiting  from the fluctuations for as long as they are still battling with each other.

But what is not a great idea is to trade them until one of them gets screwed. If that happened you will end up with huge bag of the looser coin.

As mentioned in the...

Update on our BTC "buy the dip" setup - Current profits

If you don't recall Rubena is our "Buy the dip" bot that we started when BTC was almost ~37K with the intention to buy a huge dip. The settings of these bot allows a deal to buy 17 orders below the entry price, and at the time we manually triggered the deal was targeting a last order at 19.9K

It's meant to buy more the more the price goes down. And that's exactly what it's been doing during all these red days!

As you can see in the image below it has accumulated so far...

How to exit bad deals quicker while making extra profit

Update 1: formula had a mistake in how to calculate the total volume. IT should have used current_volume as pointed out in the comments. Thanks!

If you are using DCA trading bots for longer than a week you will notice some bad deals are well in the red.

Let's go with an example: let's say your last safety order got filled at negative 5% and now the deal is at a lost at negative 20% .

Katida - small improvement

I'm reducing the "max active deals" of katida from 10 to 2. For some reason these signals are firing very rarely these days and it's not worth deploying enough funds for 10 deals when it's only using maximum of 2 at the time.

This will make this bot reduce from 1000USD to 200USD the max usage.

I will give those funds to Amika or Aleksandro as mentioned in the previous update.

If you change the funding remember the update the name of the bot accordingly (from 1K t...

Increasing investment on top 2 performing bots to benefit from the current dip

Based on the current profits I'm seeing I'm starting to  consider increasing the investment in Amika and Aleksandro. Why now? well we are on a dip. The dip may go further down, so consider deploying the extra funds on these bots gradually.

  • Aleksandro - 1% daily
  • Amika - 1.45% daily
  • Venka - 0.85% daily
  • Fiera - 1.07% daily

Bots running and actions to take - update 20/1/2021

Technical Analysis

BTC is experiencing some weakness and may drop to lower prices, even 25K.

I'm personally keeping these bots running (same as 5 days ago). I'll keep an eye in case I want to stop them.

If you want to go more conservative, stop your bots now for at least 1 day. Pause the bots, DO NOT panic sell.
