So as you may have seen, I've been working on updating chapter 1 and 2 to be in color. I want to bring Ingress to print, but I don't want the book to suddenly be printed in color half way through. That just seems weird to me. So, I have to update chapter 1 and 2 for print. I won't be posting these on the main site, either.

Aidan Gould appears as a cleric in Ingress Adventuring Company, but he wasn't always someone who you could trust. This short story covers the incident that pushed Aidan to become a man of the cloth.
During 2020, I created a short story for the Spiderforest anthology Secret Places, which was then funded through Kickstarter. Due to Covid, the books haven't all been delivered out, but I am able to share the PDF of my short story here to patrons.

I do most of the coloring in clip studio paint, actually, so there's a 'flats' layer that acts as the reference layer.

The past few chapters I had been using the beginning locations as the start of the chapter, but considering that there's a lot of different locales that appear in chapter 6, that wasn't going to work nearly as well this time. I decided to do a more evocative cover, so that meant I had to think about it a little more. Here's a thumbnails and color tests I ended up doing before reaching the final result.
There were actually quite a few more thumbnails than this, but they were pretty small...

Here you can see the layer setup that I have for the chapter 6 cover.
Interesting thing to note: I had two different versions of the text treatment I was testing out. You can see the one I ended up going with and the one that I first tried out.
There are text layers in this one, but there's layers with the text rasterized so you'll still be able to see how it looks.
