You may know it is the International Year of the Periodic Table, as decreed by UNESCO.
The Professor and I will be in Paris next week for the official launch, and the prof is going to give a 20-minute talk at the official ceremony (including some video highlights).
I'll be sharing more from the event next week, but just wanted to thank all our Patreon supporters for that bit of extra help to make it possible.

Hi everyone - tomorrow will mark 10 years since our first uplaod... More on that tomorow.
To mark the event here's a 10th anniversary enamel pin (the real thing will look cooler... imagine the yellowy bits in gold!)
Here's a link to pre-order - http://bit.ly/Pv10_Pin
The Prof is very excited about these - I reckon he'll be buying loads and giving them out like candy! :)
Yesterday we put this soldier through quite an ordeal... video coming in a few weeks!

The good people at Oak Ridge National Laboratory just shared this picture with me... Too late for our Promethium video but thought I'd share it here.
Caption: While working at the Graphite Reactor, Jacob Marinsky and Lawrence Glendenin produce the rare-earth element 61, promethium. They do so through uranium fission and by bombarding neodymium with neutrons from fissioning uranium in the reactor. Promethium-147 is later used in nuclear-powered batteries for instruments in gui...

Many chemistry students (including myself and The Prof) have fond memories of Nitrogen Triiodide... But beware, it is very dangerous and must be handled with EXTREME caution.

I didn't include this picture in today's video, but thought it was a nice document as it has both Seaborg and Flyorov!
