How To: Make a 2D RPG Battle Theme

One of my absolute favorites (inspired by my own dumb original game idea). Very riff heavy and just a bit different from other video game-style songs I've uploaded to youtube. I'm happy with all of the positive feedback it had received so far. I hope you all enjoyed it as well!

Unmixed and un-mastered. Sending it to Sixteen In Mono for a solid mix. But this is the rough idea version of my metal song done completely in the "Whole Tone" scale! Alright! So what's on the menu for this week? Well it turns out I'm having a bit of RIFF FEVER. Not just that, but I've been experimenting with new scales and seeing how they're implemented in both band music and video game music. The "whole tone" scale is probably one of the most strange and tricky ones I've encountered. You can hear a lot of it in some Zelda tracks (ESPECIALLY Majora's Mask areas). How To: Make an Anime Outro Song (Season 3)

It seems like I say this every few weeks, but this is definitely a new favorite of mine. I have no idea where the inspiration came from, but I'm glad it came in the first place. I didn't realize how common writer's block could be when you do it so much, so little hits of inspiration like this get you on a real high. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did making it!

This Week: I'm actually not incredibly sure. I have a few ideas, but I might just go with "How To: Make a 2D RPG Battle Theme". Future Song Sneak Peeks

NOTE: These ideas are incredibly rough and unfinished. Some parts will sound very plain. I figured I'd show you guys this mess here. It definitely has potential, but I have to find the right melodies and structures for it. I've been sitting on this one for a good month. Final Boss (Phase 2) but it's also a bit Progressive Metal.

Anyone who's a fan of the "bad guy leitmotif" might get a small kick out of the "emotional idea" file.

Exclusive Patron-Only Song (Free Download)

This is the commission I'm working on right now. I ended up getting extremely attached to it and now it's a new favorite (what a surprise, right). I was planning a heavy metal-type song for "How To: Anime Season 4", but now I'm thinking this could work better. Maybe the metal-type song could be an outro for season 3? Hmmm.

This is just a demo for now, but you will get the whole song when it's complete!

My break will be ending a little early. I can't say much, but I'm doing an anime intro commission for a youtuber with over 1 million subscribers and they plan to use it in their videos. I don't know what kind of results it will yield, but it's exciting nonetheless!

Small change of plans! [+ New Song Download]

The remaster of "Before the World Dies" could not be finished in time and I didn't want this week to go empty, so I mocked up a song in the span of about 2 hours. I'm actually going to title the video "I made this video game song in 2 hours. Go Nuts" or something related. You still won't be charged for this week. That being said, if this song has enough potential, I will redo it from the ground up for a "How-To" video.

This song was one of the hardest for me to record, but nailing that tapping section was totally worth it. I'd like to think it makes up for the terrible video thumbnail. I hope you all enjoyed the video!

Whether or not this song is voted on in next month's tab poll, there will be tabs released for it. I threw a lot of it into guitar pro when it was still an idea, so rearranging them and making little edits should take minimal effort. Looks like we'll all be tappin'! 

Plans for this week (there will be no charge this week)

Hey guys! So as most of you know, I'm taking a bit of a break this week, so this Saturday will most likely feature a remaster of "Before the World Dies" from the "Final Boss" How-To! Because it's a remaster and nothing necessarily new, I won't be charging you guys for it. 

For next week: a new original is planned, but I'm still debating on what's appropriate. I do have a pretty cool retro 2D fighting theme idea I wanted to finish up, but we'll see how things go!

A little late this week again. The past 2 weeks have been way too busy, but I have "the goods" for you today, buds. This week will be "How-To: Make a Post-Hardcore Song (part 3)". It's one of the more challenging songs I've done and it has a pretty tough tapping part near the end. Working on getting it mixed and mastered by Sixteen in Mono, so we'll see how that goes!

As for next week: there will be a video, but I'll actually be taking a bit of a break. It'll be the first time...ever actually....

This was super fun to make, but that's probably because it brought back a bunch of old JRPG memories. I hope you all enjoyed it as well! I don't do happy/upbeat songs often, but it's always a treat to write while in the happiest of moods.

Probably my favorite cover I've ever done. Maybe it's biased because I'm kind of in love with Xenoblade Chronicles 2. EITHER WAY, I hope you enjoyed it! The views and feedback far exceeded my expectations (plus I got to learn some new techniques to utilize in my own tracks!)
