i'm procrastinating right now haha but all drafts are done, I've met my zine check-in early and I'm now just working on comm/reward lines ✌️✌️the best case scenario is that I can get through all of these comms and rewards before June and maybe I'm delusional but I still think I can do it.

This was one of the zine pitches that was rejected by the mods but I wanted to work on it on my own time anyway.

Struggled with art block this weekend and all day today (everything I've done looks kinda awful😭) but I'll touch grass tomorrow and hopefully be ready to tackle my actual work in the upcoming week!

We're continuing to use the censorship method like this, since I know the 1st image shows up in email notifications. I'll continue to do it this way but I'm also trying to flag this page as being 18+ overall, even though I don't draw explicit content very often!

Working on this sketchpage in addition to the new zine means I don't have much SFW content to show right now ... 😞😞

But by the start of next week I'll be moving forward with comms and rewards, so I hope I have someth...

Every month I try to do some sort of painted study and this was what I squeezed into April.

I'm not really happy with this and there's a lot I would still change but I think I've learned enough from it to move on.

Part of a portrait series! I do my best to make them look similar but my success varies haha.

Making decent progress on the rest of the rewards but life keeps getting in the way so it's slower than I'd like it to be. Oh well.

Just realized I've planned all of the headshots this month to be fully front-facing ... I swear it wasn't on purpose.

Should have the colors on all of these finished before the end of the month, so I'd better lock in. There are a few things I'm trying to do on the side but I may have bitten off more than I can chew ... many such cases.

wanted to draw him without the eyepatch ... also designed him a different gun because I realized I would have to crop it out if I drew his normal gun LOL

MVP reward WIP - Narve (angel)

I won't lie, I struggled with this a bit! Wasn't sure I had the skill to balance the different elements of the design or figure out how to create a focal point in a headshot when the eyes are covered.

2nd image was my first attempt and then I redrew some parts of it to create the 1st image which I think has better structure and looks more accurate to the design of the hair/feathers.

Back from my break! And just really wanted to find time to put emperor in this format.

General updates:

2 scrapped sketches

I think I'm discarding both of these ... probably. The first isn't actually as bad as I initially thought.

Might take tomorrow off and recharge because I'm starting to feel a bit stuck and too insecure to commit to any individual drawings. Sucks but it happens.

Castle redesign

Mostly just swapped some colors around and muted his palette. I think something less saturated than the original is more fitting for his motives and personality. It also translates better if I end up doing my whole comic in black+white

Some random thoughts on my design philosophy:

He's got a huge ego about how easy it is for him to blend in and befriend (or manipulate) different types of people so I think even from the start I wanted his colors to feel kind of neutral.

Okay, that's everything for March! This one will be part of another portrait series so I've put them side by side.

Some plans & general notices :

Next month I'll likely be using rewards to do some minor style experiments, maybe just with colors because I like the way I've been doing lines lately and I think I've been consistent with those. But we'll see how that goes.

I'll also be advertising an extra batch of commissions in April but won'...

Still just trying to learn how to use these new tools and find my own style ... It's hard!

Included the rough undersketch so you can see my messy attempt at learning distorted perspective. I ignored the golden rule of studying where you should really only focus on one thing at a time. Don't overwhelm yourself like I did!
