To celebrate, we didn't go to any restaurant. Heck, we didn't even go to any businesses. Hope and I got our teams healed at the Pokémon Center before hastily going around and buying as many groceries as we could.
Then, a quick jaunt northwards and we found a nice, isolated beach where we wouldn't be disturbed. Once everyone was collected, we set up our plan:
A classic beach barbecue.
The sun was setting on the horizon, making the sky turn brilliant shades of oranges and red...

In a small campsite on the shores of a Brooklet Hill lake, Hope, Lillie, and I, all sat around in silence. Our Pokémon were out, implying this was a peaceful break, yet the presence of a certain Ultra Beast screamed that it was anything but.
The Kartana was mostly motionless, though it drifted back and forth as it floated, not too dissimilar from a falling piece of paper. It never lost height, however, and its body was so sharp that it almost seemed like it was slicing through...

Using the surge of trainers as a way to push my team to new heights?
Sure, that sounded great on paper. In reality, it was hell.
It started simple enough. As Hope and I left the Pokémon Center, one of the trainers who I fought off the day before challenged me again. Not in a rush, I beat him in a simple 3-on-3 match then headed off.
Later, two more trainers appeared, with only one of them being familiar. I fought and beat the one who challenged me first, then, somehow, off ...

Announcement: Double chapter day! Thanks for continuing to read. Life has been a bit hectic for me irl, but I managed to squeeze out two chapters as thanks for the support. However, I can only write so fast, so Chapter 182 is still in the process of being edited. It's almost done, and it should be up within the next few minutes.!

Whimsicott had to use Tailwind to help Altaria carry me to have us reach the resort in time. Clearly, that Pelipper from earlier had been traveling fast in order to deliver the letter before noon. I unfortunately arrived a few minutes late. My Pokémon just couldn’t travel the distance with the appropriate speed.

Announcement: Thank you for waiting through the delay! I’ve left a comment below to explain what went on. Unfortunately, I won’t be able to get the second half of this chapter finished until Thursday or Friday (my current aim is to get it out at the usual Thursday time), but the usual schedule should return as normal on Monday. I wanted to leave you all with something, at least, so please enjoy the first part of Chapter 180.

Unfortunately, I've had a few compounding family emergencies that will force me to delay the chapter.
I’m feeling overwhelmed. Chapter 180 is delayed but mostly written. Expect it to go out sometime soon(tm), just not at the normal time. As for Thursday’s chapter, I don’t know.

"Look at him! He's so cute!"
Lillie held up the newest member of her team into the air, raising him up for all the world to see. The Pokémon was a simple, white clump with a trio of pastel-colored mushrooms growing off of its body. It had two mushrooms: one lavender and one pink.
"I found him when he fell off a tree. He'd been trying to put me to sleep!" She giggled. "But Popplio helped defeat him and then I asked if he wanted to join. And now look!"
Two empty voids stared ...

Tropius crashed into the ground, leaving a wide crater in his wake. He peeled off the cracked and broken dirt underneath him, stepping back from a flattened mushroom—a Shiinotic.
"Shiinotic is unable to battle. Please send out your next Pokémon," I announced.
Mallow, Akala's Grass Type Trial Captain and warden of the Lush Jungle, stared on, repeatedly opening and closing her mouth in a failed attempt to say any words. Her second of three Pokémon had been so utterly defeated th...

Hope was the first one to notice the Team Skull grunts. She moved to the side of the group to block Lillie's line of sight, just in case, then she signed me about their presence.
"Criminals. Three. Nine o'clock."
We took a hard turn to the right as we walked through this dusty, ranch town, and I glanced towards the trio out of the corner of my eye as we did.
Immediately, I felt something stir in my chest.
The three Team Skull grunts were familiar; they were th...

I would say Professor Burnet’s lab had a sort of grim silence to it, but the topmost floor was loud with the sounds of repairs. Every few seconds, a loud whirr or bang would ring out from the workers and Pokémon in the process of fixing Burnet’s wall and machines. As that meant the space was occupied, we instead stood in her basement, a blank room that only consisted of a table, some boxes, and a very lonely vending machine.
Hope sat on a box of old documents while Professor Burnet...

The boats that docked on Akala brought over the stuff the competitors deposited within. Hope and I were able to collect our belongings before heading to the Pokémon Center. We weren’t in a rush—finding out more information about Ryuki wasn’t pressing—but there was a slight concern that Kukui might have left out pertinent details about Ryuki’s identity. He seemed too bold to be someone Kukui accidentally overlooked.
After getting changed, we were able to secure a private booth...

With Hala defeated, there wasn't anything pressing to take care of on Melemele Island. We were ahead of schedule by a couple of weeks, mostly due to travel on the island taking less time than expected. So, with all of that combined, we took advantage of our currently free schedule to do something that absolutely could not be missed.
We went to the beach.
I personally didn't like going in the water, but some of my Pokémon were more than excited at the idea. We found a little beach...

When Hala asked if he could invite a few guests to watch, I didn’t think he meant most of Hau’oli’s outskirts. I mostly attributed the miscommunication to cultural differences, as Alola seemed far more community-oriented than what I was used to. While the number of people that arrived wasn’t comparable to the number of people at the start-of-season festival, there were still enough around to form a small crowd full of parents and their children that would watch our impending match.

Cutiefly had a problem.
All Pokémon had different starting points. Some needed more help than others. Florges started out as a vulnerable Flabébé, so we rushed her evolution so she’d be less at risk in battle. Altaria, on the other hand, initially knew no moves, so we had to spend extra time getting him to a decent baseline.
Cutiefly was similar, but to an extreme. He had the drive to train himself, but he had zero battle experience and was incredibly fragile.
If a wind...

Tinkatuff was like a child experiencing Christmas morning for the first time. Each swing of her hammer was accompanied by giggles, and she kept moving it around in different ways to try out new techniques.
With her larger body, she didn’t need to struggle to attack; she wielded her hammer with ease. Even more, she had torn off roughly half its extraneous parts to make it even more lightweight and aerodynamic, most likely no longer needing them to support a smaller form.
Tinkatuf...

Eevee paced back and forth at the base of the cliff, and I gripped the railing at the edge of the viewing platform even tighter. Around me, about a dozen different trainers shouted out commands and short yells of encouragement while their own Pokémon climbed a rocky wall.
"At least one of them will figure it out, right?" I mumbled.
And then, light.
A massive beam of pure energy shot out straight upwards before being pulled down over the horizon. Its presence seemed to stret...

The routes of Melemele skirted around the edge of the island, so anywhere you went on them, you always had an ocean view. Route 2 was located just north of Hau’oli City, and it curved around towards the more mountainous and barren Route 3. These parts of the island slowly shifted from populated to sparse, with only occasional signs of human settlement popping up here and there.
A few isolated hotels were located on this route, as well as a lone Pokémon Center. Outside the route itsel...

Eevee was at the head of the pack by a lot. His quadrupedal body granted him a much better control over his speed, while Togepi's wide steps and the toddling gait of Tinkatink's somewhat stubby limbs meant they trailed behind. The trio ran around a dirt field within a private League building while I kept a stopwatch on hand to time their pace.
My mind kept drifting off from the task, however.

The sound of feet shuffling across the auditorium floor rang out as people ambled along to find a place to sit. Groups of children laughed as they engaged in friendly conversation, and a few young adults talked among themselves as well but were much more reserved. A handful of teens were present in the room, but half of them were purposefully pretending to look uninterested and bored. Teachers and staff kept everyone in order, and I had to suppress a proud grin when I saw the single pair of a...

My mind was already racing with possibilities of how to tackle this situation. Unfortunately, my current team composition was limited.
First of all, Azumarill was completely out of the picture. She had too many injuries to fight any time soon. Ninetales was with me too, yes, but the jungle would slow down her speed and block any line of sight into the air.
As for Dedenne, my third team member, he was the Pokémon we needed to chase in the first place! That left just Gardevoir, who...
