Emergency Chapter Delay

Unfortunately, I've had a few compounding family emergencies that will force me to delay the chapter.

I’m feeling overwhelmed. Chapter 180 is delayed but mostly written. Expect it to go out sometime soon(tm), just not at the normal time. As for Thursday’s chapter, I don’t know.

Lillie held up the newest member of her team into the air, raising him up for all the world to see. The Pokémon was a simple, white clump with a trio of pastel-colored mushrooms growing off of its body. It had two mushrooms: one lavender and one pink.

"I found him when he fell off a tree. He'd been trying to put me to sleep!" She giggled. "But Popplio helped defeat him and then I asked if he wanted to join. And now look!"

Chapter 178

Tropius crashed into the ground, leaving a wide crater in his wake. He peeled off the cracked and broken dirt underneath him, stepping back from a flattened mushroom—a Shiinotic.

Chapter 177

Hope was the first one to notice the Team Skull grunts. She moved to the side of the group to block Lillie's line of sight, just in case, then she signed me about their presence.

Chapter 176

I would say Professor Burnet’s lab had a sort of grim silence to it, but the topmost floor was loud with the sounds of repairs. Every few seconds, a loud whirr or bang would ring out from the workers and Pokémon in the process of fixing Burnet’s wall and machines. As that meant the space was occupied, we instead stood in her basement, a blank room that only consisted of a table, some boxes, and a very lonely vending machine.

Chapter 175

The boats that docked on Akala brought over the stuff the competitors deposited within. Hope and I were able to collect our belongings before heading to the Pokémon Center. We weren’t in a rush—finding out more information about Ryuki wasn’t pressing—but there was a slight concern that Kukui might have left out pertinent details about Ryuki’s identity. He seemed too bold to be someone Kukui accidentally overlooked.

With Hala defeated, there wasn't anything pressing to take care of on Melemele Island. We were ahead of schedule by a couple of weeks, mostly due to travel on the island taking less time than expected. So, with all of that combined, we took advantage of our currently free schedule to do something that absolutely could not be missed.

Chapter 172

Cutiefly had a problem.

All Pokémon had different starting points. Some needed more help than others. Florges started out as a vulnerable Flabébé, so we rushed her evolution so she’d be less at risk in battle. Altaria, on the other hand, initially knew no moves, so we had to spend extra time getting him to a decent baseline.

Cutiefly was similar, but to an extreme. He had the drive to train himself, but he had zero battle experience and was incredibly fragile.

Chapter 171

Tinkatuff was like a child experiencing Christmas morning for the first time. Each swing of her hammer was accompanied by giggles, and she kept moving it around in different ways to try out new techniques.

With her larger body, she didn’t need to struggle to attack; she wielded her hammer with ease. Even more, she had torn off roughly half its extraneous parts to make it even more lightweight and aerodynamic, most likely no longer needing them to support a smaller form.

Eevee paced back and forth at the base of the cliff, and I gripped the railing at the edge of the viewing platform even tighter. Around me, about a dozen different trainers shouted out commands and short yells of encouragement while their own Pokémon climbed a rocky wall.

Chapter 169

The routes of Melemele skirted around the edge of the island, so anywhere you went on them, you always had an ocean view. Route 2 was located just north of Hau’oli City, and it curved around towards the more mountainous and barren Route 3. These parts of the island slowly shifted from populated to sparse, with only occasional signs of human settlement popping up here and there.

Eevee was at the head of the pack by a lot. His quadrupedal body granted him a much better control over his speed, while Togepi's wide steps and the toddling gait of Tinkatink's somewhat stubby limbs meant they trailed behind. The trio ran around a dirt field within a private League building while I kept a stopwatch on hand to time their pace.

My mind kept drifting off from the task, however.
