Hello all! It has been WAY too long since we posted any new content...It's been a tough summer for a variety of reasons but we are BACK with a brand new video as we get ready to ramp up into the Halloween season! :)
Learn how to make a DIY Halloween Mummy! This was a really fun and easy DIY Halloween project that is perfect for upping your Halloween game this year! We start by making a duct tape body form and then filling it with upcycled newspaper. From there it gets wrapped in cheesec...

We've got a new project video out today and it's definitely one of our favorites! We used a beautiful piece of Bocote (exotic hardwood) and made a PUZZLE BOX that holds your dice!
This is our first go at making a "puzzle box" and we're super proud of how it came out! Let us know if you were able to solve it before we reveal it at the end. :)

Jay & Jaimie make a Pikler Triangle, the ultimate DIY climbing frame for kids! This was a really fun DIY project for kids that you can do yourself with some basic woodworking tools and some easy-to-find materials. We love rock climbing, so when a project came along where we could start to get our son interested, we jumped on it!
Take a look and let us know what y'all think. :)

We did the first epoxy tests in our custom silicone molds last night. Not as good as we’d hoped but not as bad as we’d expected. 😂
Any guesses what we’re making here?

Hey friends! We just released a new project video where we use our X-Carve, some LEDs, and an Arduino to make a huge skull sign for our shop. It's seriously killer and we hope you like it. Check it out and let us know what you think. :)

We've never made a project with epoxy/resin before so we decided to give it a go since river tables are awesome! Turns out, we have no idea what we're doing. :) In what is probably our most problem-prone project to date, things kept going wrong over and over but we ended up recovering and building something really nice.
This is the story of how NOT to make a river table. Learn from our mistakes by watching this video so the next time you build something like this you'll be that much sma...

Hey all! Happy new year. We've got quite a few projects in the Work-in-progress phase at the moment, but one in particular that I've been having a lot of fun with and wanted to show you is our attempt at our first movie prop replica: the "Tesseract" from the Marvel films.
We're attempting to build it using epoxy resin and then have an arduino-based LED system inside to give it life. So far we've done about 6 tests and, although we're getting closer, it's not quite looking right...

New video! Really, really enjoyed making this one. These big alphabet blocks have the classic look and style of the blocks we all grew up with but they definitely have that Wicked charm you've come to expect from us. Also they're massive. :D
Let us know what you think!

Five years ago we bought a box on Etsy for our wine box ceremony at our wedding. It's a modern ritual where, during your wedding you seal up a bottle of wine inside a box along with love letters written to one another. Five years later on your anniversary you open the box, drink the wine, and read the letters! When we opened it on our anniversary this year we had a great time reminiscing about the awesome wedding we had and laughing about how there was never any time before the wedding to build ...

Our entire yard turns into a creepy cemetery for Halloween and one of the best parts about it is the creepy diy halloween fence. Check out how easy it is to build one yourself.

The next in our Halloween Series line up is this DIY Fog Chiller! If you've ever seen that low-lying creepy cemetery fog that rolls across the ground and swirls around as you walk through it...this is how you make it!
It works by pumping the fog out of your basic fog machine and cooling it inside a container filled with ice. When the fog comes back out it's dense and cold and hovers above the ground instead of rising up and dissipating.
Incredibly easy to make and you probably alre...

Hey guys! Jay here. When I first started editing this video I was having a really hard time with it. I don't know much about sewing so it's tricky to gauge the pacing and tell a good story when you don't really know exactly what's going on. I put it down for awhile and then before we knew it, several months had gone by. :) We decided to wait it out and save it for our Halloween Series and over the last week or two Jaimie and I worked together to finish up the edit.
What started as a challenge,...

As a lot of you know, Halloween is our jam. Jaimie has always been obsessed with it and we go ALL OUT at our house every year with a haunted graveyard thing and we have kids from neighborhoods all over town come to our house to enjoy the fun interactive animation and stuff we do. Even the local news stops by to check it out. It's a big deal in our family. :)
This year we're going to be making a short series of Halloween themed builds specific to the prop-making and other rad stuff we do for ou...

As some of you know, Jaimie does marketing for Rooster Teeth and they recently had their 8th annual RTX expo here in Austin, TX. Because we make rad stuff, they asked us to make a huge sign for their main booth at the show and we happily obliged! This was a really fun and challenging build due to a much shorter timeline than we're used to and some creative challenges to solve.
Would love to hear your feedback, my dudes.

What an amazing project this was. They say it's all about the journey and not the destination, but when the destination is being able to ride this board, I'd say it's just as awesome in this case.
Let us know what you think, please share the video with your friends who might like it, and thanks for the support as always. :)

We're putting the final touches on the Longboard video and it's looking like our goal of releasing tomorrow is going to happen! Still need to wrap up the narration and do a bit more music editing but everything is coming out really good.
This one's been a lot of fun to make, we're pretty sure you're going to like it a lot. :)

Making great progress on our next video! It's a detailed build video for a really nice hardwood longboard. It's made of Walnut, maple, and mahogany. I've joked with Jaimie that it's basically a cutting board on wheels, since it's kind of a simple woodworking project other than the shape, etc. :) Sometimes though you can take something relatively simple and elevate it into something more. We used the X-Carve to put some awesome artwork on the bottom. As usual we tried to give it some custom Wicke...

We recently picked up an Amazon Echo for the first time and it's been pretty fun to learn what Alexa can do. There's obviously a lot of different voice activated apps and assistants out there these days (Siri, Bixby, Google, etc.) but we hadn't really dived in to check things out yet so this was our first romp.
We immediately had the idea to use it in the shop to sort out some inconvenient things we have to do like turning our dust collector on and off! It worked perfectly and in this video we...

In this video we show a detailed look at how to unbox and assemble the Inventables 1000mm X-Carve CNC machine. It's an affordable DIY-style kit that you put together yourself and it can be used as a CNC wood router to make signs, carve things, make parts, and all sorts of super fun stuff.
The kit was super fun to build and we have really enjoyed using the machine. So far we've made loads of signs, we use to cut out small parts for projects, and use it to make molds, jigs, and other ra...

Our second video moved us into some territory where we had to study a bit and pick up some new skills. We'd never used Arduinos before and had only ever done ultra basic electronics, so it was a great experience to learn how easy it is to make this stuff.
After a few months of tinkering and practicing, we came up with a design for this humidity sensor that would live in our shop. The purpose of it was to alert us to big swings in the Texas humidity so if we had an important woodworking project...
