A vision inspired by the aliens portrayed in Johannes Kepler’s posthumous 1634 book Somnium (“The Dream”), arguably one of the first works of world-building science fiction. In this book; our moon, referred to as “the island of Levania”, is inhabited by various creatures that are hazily described as being snake-like; bird-like; and “...

Despite quarantine measures, work on the Snaiad book is proceeding full-steam!
Due to the immense number of clades portrayed in the book, the images will all be in black-and-white.
But this will not mean that they will be low on detail. Here is the full, pen-and-pencil rendition of a semi-arboreal Griffoniorm predator.
In sharing this image, I want to thank you all for your valuable support during these difficult days...

Hi everyone, I hope you are safe in the coronavirus pandemic, and I am thankful to your support, which has made this month far better for me. I keep working and producing, and all seems well for now.
For solidarity, I am dropping one of my biggest secret book projects FOR FREE as a gift to everyone I know. Behold >DECADE< - a total catalogue of all paintings, drawings, silkscreen and digital prints I created between 2010 and 2020.

Here is a sneak preview of the Snaiad book.
All animals from the previous website, plus many more, are being re-drawn.
You can see an updated drawing of Urunyx above; with the old, colour drawing from all the way back in 2005. When complete, the drawings will be placed in the page, and text will be added.
The book still has 1-2 years of work left - with your contributions I will keep on working to complete it...
Thank you once more !

Today I completed scanning the first 120+ illustrations for Snaiad: The Natural History of an Alien Planet, out of a planned 800, or more. The page layouts to accommodate them are also ready. This will be an exciting, landmark volume of speculative zoology, and I am thankful to you all for supporting me on the way. :)

Work on Snaiad is going full-speed ahead, thanks in part to your support from Patreon. I have now illustrated 100 species from different groups, but there are hundreds more left to go. MANY animals will be completely new to the Snaiad ecosystem.
As a gift to you, here is a shading test & anatomical study of Lophophiphagus, a predatory animal that has specialised to capture armoured, snake-like prey.

This month, thanks in part to your contributions, I was able to realise three big-scale illustrations on speculative evolution.
Two of these are of flying gecko lizards which may evolve in the future.
The big one, on the other hand, depicts the possibility of a pre-human intelligent species in the ages past; in the form of a Scutellosaurus (an actual dinosaur) sheltering under the ruins left by an unknown civilization.
Thank you once more for your suppor...

Thanks to your support I was able to record and publish a long, sermon-like podcast on Area 51; including a brief overview of its history; the vast expanse of secret US government programmes; the July 2019 meme/event participated by 1.700.000 people to “raid” it an divulge its “alien” secrets; speculations on how such a raid would really play out; finished by a long, rambling discussion on what it would really mean to encounter humanoid “grey” alien bodies in such a facility. &nbs...

A long, fun-filled movie review where I compare the 1977 and 2018 incarnations of the ballet-house-witch thriller Suspiria, and reflect on why the art of storytelling seems to be failing in big-studio movie productions. I top things off by launching into a tangent rant about how I'd film Suspiria, if given an unlimited budget and opportunities.

The Snaiad book will feature hundreds of new species, clades and illustrations. I work on it almost every day. When complete, it will be a landmark volume of speculative zoology. Here are three related families of forest animals, from a clade known as Antibrachia.

I had access to an expansive studio space, and painted dozens of surreal works on planks, pieces of cardboard, wood, etc. between 2014 and 2017.
This studio was part of the advertising agency that I worked for as an English copy-editor. The ad agency had to downsize at the end of 2017 - and while they did not let me go; they did have to cut back on their office space - and off went my painting studio...
