Restitched: From The Vault

In January 2021, we were still prototyping our first ideas for the game. We knew we wanted the player to be decorated with graphics, which were originally called 'Decals' before changing to the current 'Stamps' naming.

This video is one of our first-ever tests where placing graphics on Stuffy was possible!

Dev Video: Camera Tilt Level Setting

In the past week, we've added a new Level Setting that will allow creators to set the default tilt of their gameplay cameras. This gets overridden by entering manual camera zones.

Tilting the gameplay camera can drastically change the look of levels! Whether you're going for 2D, isometric, or top-down style, it adds just a bit more handy customization. We also plan to add more default camera settings, including offset and field of view (FoV).

Restitched: From the Vault | Spider Enemy Concepts

As you've probably seen in our recent screenshots and the official trailer, one of our basic enemy types is the Spider!

Early in their conceptualization, we explored different looks for them. However, we ultimately chose to go for a more crafty look. We felt the button eyes made it look more threatening, whereas the normal eyes made it look friendly and a bit too cute.

How do you feel about the idea of a playable Story Mode map?

Restitched: Soundtrack Preview | "Thread of Adventure" (Main Theme)

Introducing the game's main theme music, "Thread of Adventure". Team composer Thomas Voets created this song with the intent of capturing the game's whimsical, charming feeling. This is also backed up by the track's child-like humming!

Using the same tune with different instruments represents some of the many themes and locations Stuffy is expected to see throughout the game's story levels and usable assets.

Restitched - Unused Screenshots

While we were working on the second trailer, we took nearly 100 new screenshots from the levels shown! These were taken from an even earlier build than the one our footage was captured in.

Some of these screenshots are currently unused, but show areas of the levels not clearly seen before.

Restitched: Cinematic vs. Storyboard Comparison

This video compares bits of the game's introductory cutscene to an early 2D storyboard animation. Even though a large part of the animation was changed drastically in its final form, the original pieces of inspiration still remain. The animators have stayed surprisingly faithful to the early references!

Back in 2020 when the game was being conceptualized, we mocked up several UI ideas for various UI and features. We knew we wanted a browsable in-game Steam Workshop menu, but arranging it was always a challenge at the start.

Over time, things fell into place. The current menu style better balances what the player needs and what's easily possible for us to develop using Unity and Steam SDK's limitations:
