GBDNATE Cameo

Friend of the show Gender Bender DNA Twister Extreme, has a little surprise in last week's update. Sure it introduces some fun new characters and has a story not focusing on the characters from the lab and there's joy and laughter, but there's a comic convention and that's important. Also, it's a Lynn-heavy chapter. That's important too. Check out DK's gallery for all the details on what's in the episode. This chapter has some adult bits, so ask your parents' permission if need be. 2014-08-31 16:30:24 +0000 UTC View Post

August Wrapup

http://sincomics.com/ Heatwaves and earthquakes couldn't slow the Sins down! Here's a reminder of all the lovely bonuses that were posted in August!

Quick Review: Dishonored

Dishonored creates a neat world, I have to give it that. There's an odd super science mixed with the dark ages and Plague setting with your abilities being a fairly unexplained combination of science and magic. It's super video game-y, but that doesn't extend to almost anything else you'll do through the whole game and it doesn't seem to make good on the world it creates. The story is told through found document and audio logs and there are dozens and dozens of them. Why are the whales special? ...

Fananza Is Now A Word

The weekend art update comes early and it's a fan art bonanza! Or as nobody decent has ever called it, a fananza! My part of an art trade with PainfulElegy where we swapped sidekicks. Poor Hoffi is stuck between a god-like being that loves showing off and a god-like being that loves makeovers and hair styling. There's no hope for the poor guy. See PE's picture and his gallery at: http://pain...

Last Week on Sins

http://sincomics.com/ Last Week on Sins: We were happy about killing the Moon, we were sad the Moon wasn't really dead, and we were confused when our friends tried to eat us. We also posted a Mercynaries page to TWC ( http://topwebcomics.com/vote/4549/default.aspx ) , amazing fan art, bonus art, and a look back at Nier!

Look Back: Nier

I already reviewed Nier back when I first played it, but I wanted to look back at it as part of the wrap-ups I was doing in the AGWS videos. I was really happy this game held up and was as good as I remembered it being. I love the game's writing. All the characters have personality. It can be funny when it needs to be and heart-breaking when you need a little despair. And this time around I know that Laura Bailey was Kaine! I need to work Nier into my grand RE6/SR3 fantasy now... Nier's gameplay...

Pretty Soldier Armageddon

http://sincomics.com/ By 100% real and valid demand, I thought it would be fun to take Baxter's cheerleading in last week's comic to its only logical conclusion. That hero knows how to rock the crime-fightin' miniskirt and pom-poms. Few people truly respect the melee abilities of the pom-pom. Especially when combined with the Armageddon gauntlet hidden inside of them!

Quick Review: Rogue Legacy

I'm a huge fan of Symphony of the Night and Rogue Legacy is basically SotN where the castle rearranges itself every time you die. And you will die. Repeatedly. The way it's designed, the beginning of the game is awful. You're weak, you can't give or take hit, you don't feel like you're making progress, and your attempts are over in a few rooms, but as you start unlocking equipment and upgrades, the game becomes a lot of fun. There's immense satisfaction in having a good run and amassing some gol...

More Commission Art!

http://sincomics.com/ We didn't hit our next Patreon art goal, but it's been two months, so I figured that added up and contacted a new artist for a Sins commission. This month's art comes to us from Fbende and we get a rather evilly jovial Dealer! I love the bone jewelry accessories. She probably wears that at fancy dress events. Only our Patreon supporters get access to the full sized image and design sketches, so download the atta...

Quick Review: Resident Evil 6

I covered my history with RE in some AGWS videos, so I'll jump right into RE6. Okay, first a digression into a pet peeve: there's no instruction manual. It comes with an ad for the crappy movies and the legal text but that's it, but the game actually has some very specific controls and features that you can only learn about by lucking into one of the tips on a loading screen. Story-wise, there's no decent reason for this game to exist. The Resident Evil story was pretty definitively ended in RE5...

Cookie Face

I just kind of felt like drawing some Popful Mail art. I'm not usually one to call for remakes, but Popful Mail totally deserves one. Not enough people have played it and it's a really good game that just needs some cleanup on the controls and difficulty balancing. I love the characters, art, Working Designs's localization, and journey you go on. It's just a really lovable game. And the bad guys are named the Gingerbread Grifter Gang! That is amaaazing! Get on it, Falcom, Sega, Working Designs? ...

Quick Review: Dead Rising 2: Off the Record

We continue our look into the dregs of the PS3 with Dead Rising 2: Off the Record! I never played the first version of Dead Rising 2, so rather than being an expansion pack, this is my first go around Fortune City. I really like Frank West as a character. He's one of the few well-done “every man” game protagonists. He's kind of a schlub, he could stand to lose a few pounds, he's petty and a bit of a jerk at times, but he does the right thing, helps people, and takes charge when you need it. ...

Last Week on Sins

http://sincomics.com/ Last Week on Sins: Bickering about saving the world. You don't want other people to get credit for you not getting smooshed by the moon. It's a competition! We also posted a Mercynaries page to TWC ( http://topwebcomics.com/vote/4549/default.aspx ) , and reviews of Metal Gear Rising and Double Dragon Neon!

View Post

Quick Review: Double Dragon Neon

For starters, I played this game because it was on sale for 99 cents. But even at 99 cents, it's still feels like a ripoff. They brought some good ideas to modernize beat 'em ups, but the execution didn't quite work out. The ability to select perks and power them up through the game is a great idea. The world map setup that let's you replay stages is a nice touch when combined with the upgrades and item shops. It's just that the gameplay isn't very fun. It feels like the character's reach isn't ...

Quick Review: Metal Gear Solid: Rising

Since this is a game in a storied franchise, here's a quick breakdown of my history of Metal Gear. MGS 2 was my first one and it's the only one I'd say was great. MGS1 was good, but playing 2 first ruined the impact. 3 and 4 were totally forgettable. The gameplay of the series has been uninteresting, I mostly just care about the wacky stories. Now, on to the new game! Rising ditches the focus on stealth and instead shifts over to more action and combat. Where Wolverine (the last action game I ...

AGWS- X-Men Origins Wolverine

http://sincomics.com/ We trump dumb summer blockbusters with a dumb summer action game full of screaming, fountains of blood, and so much stabbing. So, so very much of the stabbing. I seriously hope somebody from the production team kept the audio sample of Wolverine screaming and uses it for a ringtone or mail notification or something.

Quick Review: Shovel Knight

Quick Review: Shovel Knight- Aside from the character design, there's nothing uniquely interesting or novel about Shovel Knight. It's cribbing from some great games, but it definitely has a feeling of "been there, done that". There's a lot of neat stuff in the game, but it was already neat when I saw it in the games SK is referencing, so it feels like it's best suited for somebody that probably didn't grow up with the NES but has heard the system being lauded on message boards and from older gam...
