1st D&D One-Shot Invitation (June 2021)

Greetings, adventurers.

The first one-shot adventure, DMed by your friendly neighborhood dragon, will take place on Thursday, June 17th, starting at 7pm Central time (U.S.). The game will take approximately 4 hours. Theme Spells: Light

A collection of 15 light/white-themed spells.

The .pdf files each contain all the spells (and a little intro about the wizard that created them). The .zip file holds each individual spell as an image file for easy printing and handing out to players.

These were originally made for 3e, were updated a few years ago for 5e, and I made more updates before posting them here.

Tapestry of Travel

This heavy tapestry must be hung on a wall before it can open a magical doorway to a distant place. The door only lasts an hour though, so hopefully you don't get delayed on the far side.

The PCs in one of my campaigns discovered one of these, and they found that the place it leads to no longer looks like the image on the tapestry.

Sometimes, all you really need is the chance to say goodbye.

Point of Interest: The Summersnow Tree

If you find this place, you can throw snowballs in the middle of summer, or lay out and get a warm tan during winter.

This business rents out bedrooms to people that don't usually intend to sleep in them. Don't worry, their staff members know how to keep secrets.

Get in, get bread, get out. It's expensive, the workers are pushy and rude, but it's worth a visit.

These spiral stairs inside a magic tower seem to go downward forever, especially if you take a step backwards.

It's an old, weathered well that smells like dirty feet. You might not want to drink from it.

Brainsplatter

Getting hit with this heavy hammer feels like getting hit by two heavy hammers.

I originally made this when my game world, Aenea, was run as a 3e Neverwinter Nights server. Now I've brought it back for people to use in their 5e games.

Nightfall Arrow

Bring darkness to a part of the battlefield with this magic arrow. If you can find it afterward, you can use it again the next day.

The Welded Blade

Created as a response to a post on reddit, this blade is forged from the remains of multiple other blades (including a flame tongue and frost brand) and part of the soul of a phoenix.

Skipstone

This handy magic stone is a portable teleportation anchor for you. You can take it with you to leave at a desired location, and you can even toss it to places you couldn't normally reach and then teleport to it.

I originally came up with this item last summer, and finally finished it tonight after creating an illustration for it. Yup, this is one of my items that I have now drawn, so feel free to use either version.

Fogbank Bolt

This reusable crossbow bolt lets you drop a cloud anywhere you can hit.

Point of Interest: Spring Tree

It's a tree, with gallons of water flowing from its side.

Feel free to drop this into your game and enjoy the questions PCs end up asking about it.

Spell: Cat's Slumber

Spell: Field of Flame

An expanding circle of flames bursts outward, flash-burning a large area and potentially starting things on fire.

This higher-level spell was originally created when I ran a 3e game. It's designed to quickly clear a battlefield of weaker foes.

Poll: Possible One-Shot D&D Sessions

Greetings, all.

I am considering running a 5e one-shot adventure for 1st Level Adventurer (and higher tier) patrons, held multiple times so that all eligible would get a chance to participate. The game(s) would be on Roll20 (with voice chat via Discord).

Using three keywords from members of the Discord server (star, hope, crown), I came up with this NPC that might want help from a party of adventurers.

Hope is a 2nd level druid and heir to the crown of a small kingdom.

Doormaker

This potent magical warhammer helps you make doorways in places they were not intended to be.

Updated May 13, 2021:

• Removed mention of it casting dispel magic on a wall of force normally (which wouldn't work, but could be tried anyway).
• Changed it so it specifically can affect a wall of force, possibly making a 10-foot hole in the spell, and it now sets Intelligence as your casting ability for this 1/day feature.

Spell: Distill Dark from Light

When you're a wizard out in the middle of nowhere and really need ink to transcribe that great new spell you just discovered, you can transform gold coins into ink. It costs time and more gold than it normally would from a merchant, but sometimes it's worth the price.

Token: Spell Template, Faerie Fire, 20 ft. x 20 ft.

This simple visual effect was created to use as a token with a virtual tabletop platform such as Roll20.net. It's designed to be used as a 4x4 square vfx token/overlay (use it like you would use AoE templates at your physical table).

This was made for marking the location of the faerie fire spell. There are three versions of this (blue, green, and purple) to match the spell's description.

Spell: Breathing Room

When you just need a little bit of breathing room around you, you can use this spell to push everyone and everything else back.

Less damage than a thunderwave spell, but this one is quieter, affects a radius around you instead of just in front of you, and pushes foes down so you can more easily run away.

Molten Gauntlet

This versatile gauntlet has seen use in one of my campaigns as a crowbar, a shovel, lockpicks, and a quarterstaff. In your games, it could be those and many more useful objects.
