The Amethyst Dragon's Hoard of Everything: The Kickstarter Relaunch is in 1 week

Greetings, everyone.

This spring I launched my book on Kickstarter. The campaign was unsuccessful.

I've spent the last few months sharing more on social media, doing more advertising, cross-promotiong with other TTRPG creators, and continuing work on the book itself.

The Relaunchening

I will be relaunching The Amethyst Dragon's Hoard of Everything on Kickstarter next Monday, August 5.

Those who back the book durin...

Treasure: Walking Stick of Waldo the Wizard

For Treasure Tuesday #57 we have this walking stick that once belonged to a friendly street performer named Waldo. It was left behind when he disappeared one day. The young man has not yet been found.

There's a reference here somewhere, but I can't quite find it.

Eldritch Invocation: Breath of the Dragon

Available to those warlocks gifted power by The Dragon, this invocation grants the wyrmling's breath cantrip and makes it more potent.

Spell: Vehicular Personification (a Critmas in July creation)

This was created as a gift for a patron who wanted a spell that could turn a vehicle into a person, with inspiration taken from some game/anime crossovers I'd never heard of before.

It was an odd concept, but I ended up with a spell and two stat blocks (with minor differences between them).

Enjoy!

Treasure: Shadow Map of the King's Feast

This thick tablecloth is made from fine silk. It doesn't look great, but it holds a secret map that may lead to something interesting.

This is the 56th weekly Treasure Tuesday creation.

Technomancer "Wizardry" (a Critmas in July creation)

One patron asked for a wizard subclass that replaces spells with technology that does the same thing, controls constructs, and can even work where there's antimagic areas.

I thought about this for quite a while and came to the conclusion that all that that could be accomplished by reflavoring existing game mechanics and maybe providing a custom spell and magic item.

Using this reflavored wizardry as a base, anyone can use the ideas for all manner of technomagical stuff.

Tumbleweed Shine (a Critmas in July creation)

This idea came from my youngest niece and nephew, who were pretending that they had magic lip gloss that let them do awesome cartwheels. My sister told me it'd be a fun D&D item, and I agreed.

I decided to make this as the first creation for the Critmas in July.

If any patrons or anyone else wants a gift this week, let me know. I've got two more nice people on who've made their wishes, so there's room on the workbench of Santa Claws for more requests this week.

Spell: Wyrmling's Breath

This cantrip lets you quickly release a small bit of dragon's breath (just enough to affect the space in front of you). Each time you cast it, it's the same type of breath weapon (you can learn it up to 5 times to get access to every breath weapon type).

This cantrip is a bit different in that instead of the damage increasing as you hit higher levels, the size of the cone increases.

I could see this being added to items that require attunement by a dragonborn or by characters with...

Treasure: Pillow of the Rose Princess

This pillow is known to have been used to identify who was the true princess among a group of seven identical-looking young women.

I was rather tired this morning, which led to this treasured pillow being created.

This was made for the 55th Treasure Tuesday.

Mixed Bag

This little magic bag is certainly useful, but it takes 8 hours to work its magic and the result may not last very long.

This is another of my creations inspired by a container-based idiom.

Critmas in July: July 14-20, 2024

I've told patrons already, so this is a reminder to them but news for anyone else.

July 14-20, I'm going to be making a week of free, daily D&D homebrews and posting them here.

Patrons can let Santa Claws know what they're wishing for, and I'll use those wishes for what I make in my workshop.

Primal Path: Path of the Warrior Shaman

The harshest lands in the world can still have people living there, and those with magical ability still need to be strong enough to survive the dangers.

This type of barbarian is able to cast spells, even while raging (though they can't concentrate on them and some spells end the rage when cast).

Slower in spell advancement than regular spellcasters, they can pick spells from a custom list that includes a mix of druid and cleric spells.

Spell: Chromatic Cacophony

I had a random word generator give me four lists of 3 words each time, put a poll on Twitter, and the winning set (with a grant total of 2 votes) was coloful, multiply, and force.

There's a variety of damage types built into this spell, and if you cast it at higher levels you can add a couple more damage types plus extra rider effects.

Critmas in July - What do you wish Santa Claws would make in his toy shop?

Greetings.

During the 2nd full week in July (the 14th-20th), I'm going to be starting a new thing: Critmas in July. Each day that week, I'll post a brand new, free homebrew creation as a gift to the D&D community.

I want to make the gifts that are inspired by the wishes of you, my generous patrons.

When you get the chance, can you tell me one homebrew you'd wish for? I plan on crafting for any wishes except species/races/ancestries/subraces and classes/subclasses.

Bracelet of the Moon-Marked (sort of cursed item)

This pretty bracelet transforms into a funky tattoo when your wear and attune to it. It's magic can turn you into a savage beast in battle.

The bracelet isn't cursed, but it can curse the wearer.

This was originally created for my weekly D&D game. It was claimed by the party's bard, but rarely used. It's 3rd use didn't happen until many real-life months had passed.

Treasure: Ancient Dwarven Battle Maiden's Sword

This ancient sword isn't much good as a weapon anymore, but it is a valuable piece of dwarven history.

Who was the "battle girl" and what was her story?

That knowledge may be out there for adventurers to discover, or it could simply be lost to time.

d20 Yahtzee

Inspired by a random comment on a Discord channel, I put together this alternative to the standard Yahtzee scoring. To play, you use 5d20 instead of 5d6.

There's more math and the odds are worse for getting what you want.

The regular version is pictured. The "less ink" version is intended for home printing and has no background color or edge of page decor.

Wintergreen Cape

This protective luxury item made its initial appearance in my ongoing weekly D&D campaign, purchased by one PC as a gift for another (as practical prep for an anticipated faceoff with a cold-using demon).

The Jadecrest Mirror of Vanity

This magical hand mirror was created for my weekly D&D game, found when the group was exploring/investigating/looting one PC's mother's family's mansion.

Said PC normally doesn't have a reflection (one aspect of her being half-demon), so she was shocked to see herself in the magical mirror.

"I think she can have a little vanity, as a treat."
