Author’s Note:
Thank you to everyone who voted in the poll about the bee-themed chapters! 90% of you wanted more bee-themed chapters.
This is the first of two such chapters, giving a glimpse into the events of the Breach from the bees' POV.
I’m still deciding whether to keep this as a standalone chapter or weave it into different sections, hence the ??? in the chapter number.
Next week, I’ll share another p...

Jack waited for someone—anyone—to say something about the village creation cube. Instead, the others just stared at it, then at each other, like they’d all forgotten how to speak.
It was legendary grade—so clearly important—but come on. Weren’t these people supposed to be the veterans? A little insight wouldn’t hurt.
“So? Is anyone going to tell me what this thing is? I’ve never heard about creating villages before. Is it a big deal?”
Amari took a few mom...

Hello, dear Handyman readers!
Back in The Beekeeping Bard, I experimented with two chapters told from the perspective of the bees. I haven’t written any like that since—but a reader recently suggested I bring that idea back. Specifically, they thought it would be fun to include a bee-perspective chapter when Jack first splits the hive.
What do you think? Would you enjoy seeing a moment like that added into the current book (Book 4: The Bone Carver)?

By the time the Mastodon fell, the fortress gate was barely standing—warped and wheezing on its hinges, as if a single gust of wind might finish what the beast had started.
The moment the final boss dropped, a system message flashed across everyone’s interface, followed by a swell of triumphant music.
Congratulations!
You’ve completed the [Don’t Stand a Chance] event!
You’ve successfully defended this fortress!

The red trail ended at the mouth of a natural cavern. Two broad-shouldered NPCs flanked the entrance, arms folded. They wore faded security vests, stun batons strapped to their belts. A flickering bulb buzzed overhead, casting jittery shadows across the stone.
Deckard approached, inspecting the two guards.

Jack got up, ears still ringing from the impact. When the Mastodon rammed the carriage, everyone aboard had been thrown clear. Jack had landed on a patch of caltrops for good measure.
Pain lanced through his hands and knees as he pushed himself up. The caltrops bit deep. He gritted his teeth and forced his body into motion. No time to check the damage.
“Let’s go! Let’s go!” Horace shouted, scrambling back into the carriage.
The carriage was barely holding together. T...

Jack and his team stood atop the carriage, now reinforced with sleek black chitin.
Everyone was silent, eyes fixed ahead. Well… everyone but Horace. “Doesn’t this shield look great in black, too?” he asked, holding it up for everyone to admire.
Jack was the only one in the team who responded. “Sure, Horace.”
“Haha. You bet it does. Doesn’t it, boys? Doesn’t this shield look awesome?” he asked, turning to the NPC soldiers.
“Yes, sir!” some called...

Jack wiped his forehead and massaged his cheeks. The last ninety minutes had been intense.
But I did it. I’ve got it.
He hadn’t mastered the overtone technique—not perfectly—but he was close. He could trigger the calls about half the time, give or take. If things went according to plan, that level of mastery would be enough. The buffs should help too, tipping the odds in their favor for the fight ahead.
He jogged past the beehives, the low hum of bees traili...

Hi, everyone!
We’re on the verge of completing Book IV of Handyman 🎉 Maybe two, three more weeks. That means it’s time for one of my favorite parts of the process — choosing the next title!
I’d love to hear your thoughts. Which one sparks your interest the most? Or do you have a variation you think might fit even better?
Your feedback always helps shape the series — thanks for being part of the journey!...

Author's Note: We're sooooo close to the end of the Breach Arc. Next chapter we reach wave 50!
There was so much loot to sort through in this chapter, that I ended up having to condense a little some system notifications. Please let me know in the comments if it felt too many or too few notifications.
Thanks!

Deckard rubbed his hands together. Between Redbeard’s quest, mob drops, and the gear he’d sold—boss loot, elite gear, random finds—he’d scraped together 26 gold. He wasn’t sure what the average beginner carried when they first reached the city, but after a full month on Beginner Island, he had to be in the upper bracket.
Around him, players strutted about in full sets of armor or sleek robes, their weapons polished and shining. Compared to them, he looked like a beggar. But ...

Deckard closed the browser tab and resumed his march toward the Auction House. His thoughts lingered on the research he’d just finished.
Races… I hadn’t thought there were so many choices…
When he created his avatar, he’d been offered a choice between Human, Skyling, or Lizardman. He hadn’t thought much of it at the time. The moment that lady mentioned Oceanlings, he should’ve made the connection—especially with how similar their name was to Skylings. As i...

Amari scanned the battlefield. Rob’s charge had gone well; he and the Goat Knights were keeping the Cobalt Romie busy. The Black-Horned Shagrat and Roach Mother were advancing toward the ditch.
But that wasn’t what worried him.
A small, black-and-white blur darted along the canyon wall—claws gripping stone, tail flicking for balance. The Flying Marmoset. Small, fast, and trying to slip through unnoticed.
All this work to handle the bruisers would be for naught if...

Deckard glanced over at Redbeard, who stood motionless, giving him space to decide.
He shifted his gaze to Ratu, perched awkwardly on Redbeard’s shoulder. He’d expected the fisherman to be ecstatic—cheering, maybe even tearing up in joy. Instead, Ratu sat stiff and silent.
Odd.

Wave 49 comes. Beware.
The Tramontane howled. The air thickened, every breath turning sluggish, every sound muted, as if the canyon itself held its breath.
Thanks to his new passive, [Frosthide Conditioning], the freezing gusts barely registered—more breeze than blizzard. Jack tilted his head. Was this how the ants had felt when they marched against the Tramontane?
“Hope Tramontane actually pulls its weight this time. Last wave, it might as well have bee...

The last ant reared up, mandibles clicking, but Rob was faster.
Twin daggers flashed, sliding under its jaw and punching through the plates. The creature shuddered, legs folding before it collapsed in a heap.

The battle was finally over.
An hour of relentless fighting had left everyone breathing hard. Armor bore fresh dents, weapons were nicked, and exhaustion lined every face. Heat still rose off the heaps of white-furred corpses, and t...

For a time, the turrets held.
Arrows hissed through the air. Javelins punched through chitin, pinning invaders to stone. The ground around the dandelion tree became a mound of fallen ants — the choke point, a graveyard.
But the wave never slowed.
Ants climbed over their dead, swarming the trunk and pressing forward. For every one that fell, three more took its place.
Then one broke through.
A turret swiveled, tracking it—and in that heartbeat of focus, the re...

Jack sat by the fire, sanding the shagrat horn with slow, careful strokes. The black bone was tougher than anything he’d worked with before, but he’d been making good progress—layer by layer, grit by grit.
Nearby, Riku’s voice joined the soft rasp of stone against bone.
“What’s it like to be on the frontlines, Chris?”
Chris? Jack paused mid-scrape. Since when did Riku start calling Christoff Chris? He slowed his work, ears turning slightly tow...

The loot from the grey dire wolf had been incredible—at least, for everyone else. The boss of wave 45 had dropped almost a full set of gear: boots, leggings, a chest plate, and gloves—all of them rare quality. The only thing missing was a helmet.
The gear looked fluffy and cozy, just like the dire wolf’s pelt. Marie had claimed the boots and matching gloves, while Amari had taken the chest and bottom pieces. Together, they looked like a retro musical duo.
It suited Marie—m...

Jack sat on the battlement of the South Wall, overlooking the empty void. Clouds drifted thick below, hiding whatever landscape stretched beyond the mountain’s base.
“Overtones… overtones…” he muttered, scanning through search results.
He’d only read about them in passing when preparing to craft the horn. In his notes, he’d written that longer horns could produce more overtones.
But knowing this didn’t help him here. Not now that he had to actually play.

Deckard studied the field and glanced at Nevan. Nevan always wore the same relaxed grin, even when his hand was garbage.
Such a hard guy to read.
Deckard checked his cards again. Two colored feathers of the Fan Macaw statue were already in play. He held a third. If he could just find the fourth, he’d win the game.
His castle was hanging by a thread, but the defending lane had a [Pangolin Defender] and a trap set. That should be enough to halt Nevan’s offense.

Jack instinctively stepped back as the birds came into view.
Ten of them soared overhead—massive, silent shadows against the moonlit sky. They flew in a V formation, like migrating geese, although there was nothing peaceful about the sight. Despite the fierce gusts of tramontane that tore through the canyon, they advanced steadily, their broad wings slicing through the icy wind. The cold chipped away at their health bars, slowing their flight, but not stopping it.
