As the black-horned shagrat's body hit the ground, the momentum of the wave collapsed with it. Despite the number of shagrats still on the field, the fight had effectively ended the moment the herd lost its buffs.
Marie and Christoff cleaned up the stragglers with ruthless efficiency.
You’ve cleared wave 30.

Every one of them had signed a system-backed contract. That would help him keep things quiet. The NDA didn’t just bar them from sharing anything about his identity or hidden class—it also prohib...

The soldiers echoed his call, banging their maces against their wooden shields. The battle hadn’t even reached them, but Horace was working the soldiers like a festival crowd, turning mace-wielding fighters into rowdy cheerleaders.

Jack tapped his foot as he gazed at the pot, from which a rich, savory aroma wafted. He had to decide who would get the four portions.
Once upon a time—back when things were simpler—it would’ve been easy. One for each teammate: himself, Amari, Marie, and Horace.
But things had changed. The fortress now had sixteen defenders.
He considered Christoff for a moment. The NPC fired arrows fast and contributed solid DPS. He’d benefit from the buff.
But after so...

Deckard still hadn’t stepped into Cawldera.
He’d quickly realized he’d need help. But what kind of help—that was still undecided.
At first, he’d considered teaming up with an independent group. Low-profile. No guild politics. No strings. But that option came with problems.
For one, he’d stil...

Jack picked up the bones he’d shaped between waves 28 and 29. For two straight hours, he’d measured, sawed, and drilled—again and again.
Now came the sanding.
He filed the holes clean, smoothed the cut edges, and carefully rounded the bone’s interior. Comfort mattered—especially if these were going to be worn in motion.
Nearby, a pile of fresh mountain grass lay drying—the strands he’d use to bind the greaves. Marie and Rob had brought back plenty. He’d laid ...

Everyone had logged out just before wave 29 hit.
Jack headed downstairs, drawn by the rich scent wafting up from the kitchen—garlic, rosemary, and something faintly lemony.
He found his mother at the stove, wearing her blue apron with the faded floral print. She was humming to herself, off-key as always. But even so, Jack recognized the tune—one of those nostalgic Portuguese songs she liked.
“Hi, Mom!” he said.
“Hi, sweetie. How are you?” She turned t...

Choose a skill to sacrifice.
The prompt wasn’t helpful. As always, the aliens just expected me to figure it out on my own. Jerks. Or maybe that’s just their culture.
How many birds back on Earth kick their chicks out of the nest? It’s not personal—they just believe that if the chicks don’t learn to fly then and there, they’re not worth raising.
Maybe, in some twisted way, our abductors were trying to help us—preparing us for the challenges ahea...

I want to thank you all for your feedback during the polls. I might still mess around with the letter placement, but this will give you an idea of the cover for Farming Beetle!

Jack and Rob rejoined the others by the fire just in time. Two red bars blinked ominously above the large pot—an in-game warning that the stew was on the verge of burning. Jack lunged forward, pulling it off the flames with seconds to spare. The savory aroma hit him as he began ladling portions into bowls.
The first servings went to Esther and Riku. Esther sat stiffly, eyes fixed on the fire, her expression unreadable. She hadn't spoken much since the deserters admitted that they’d ...

So there I was, having a picnic with my new friend Carlos.
As we ate, a few interesting things happened. One of them was that I witnessed Carlos splintering.
His two guys had eaten and grown larger. They high-fived, and as their hands pulled apart, a new Carlos stretched into existence between them—while both originals shrank slightly.
It reminded me of someone blowing bubble gum—if, you know, the gum turned into a third guy.
Carlos was quite cheeky about it. He ma...

Hello friends,
How are you all doing?
Just got two new drawings from the artist. Which body type do you prefer? Why?
It helps if you have read the chapters I've posted of Farming Beetle.
Thank you for your help,

My personal Arc de Triomphe tasted like nachos. I know! I didn’t see it coming either.
It had that divine, crunchy texture—as if the CEO of Doritos himself had cooked it. All I needed was a cold soda and a sports game, and I’d have had the recipe for a perfect Sunday.
Despite its size, I managed to find an angle to bite into it. The stick was massive, but the right-angled branches gave me corners I could sink my mandibles into. My increased size helped too.

Hi everyone!
I just wanted to share with you the first draft of Farming Beetle's cover.
I already asked the artist to make Hal more insect-sized and to work more with mushrooms, doing whatever he can to make them look alien.
By the way, I want to pick your brains about something. I want to use the word 'isekaid' in the title, and I have been struggling with the proper spelling for it.

I don’t want you to think that just because there were predators on this planet, this story is going to turn into some horror tale about zombie-like humans who’ve lost their humanity and become voracious monsters. No. I’m not going into graphic detail on that. I still find it too gross to this day.
And that says a lot coming from someone who eats mold, fungi, rotten stuff, and hangs out with Stinky Steve—the dung beetle I told you about.
Uh-uh. This is my memoir. This stor...

I kept traveling to the promised land. A land flowing with milk and honey, and a place where beasts wouldn’t crush me without risking hitting their heads against a tree.
I did that and I ate. Not because the food was amazing. No sir. It was purely practical.
(Clears throat.)
Okay, maybe the food was a little terrific.
As I trudged on, I noticed something. My clothes didn’t feel so clownish anymore. I wasn’t grabbing at pant legs like a bride lifting her gow...

The earthquake in my neck of the woods wasn’t caused by tectonic plates—it was a malerpzerp.
Now, how do I describe a malerpzerp? Imagine a turkey walking on stilts. Now mash it up with a lynx. Now give it three eyes, five legs, and sprinkle it with decorative foliage. That’s a malerpzerp.
Hard to picture? Don’t worry. All you really need to know is: it was huge. If it stepped on the stick I was eating, the stick would snap—and I’d go from beetle larva to beet...

Jack carefully dipped the brush into a mix of wax and ash. The wax was warm, its scent faintly sharp as it clung to the bristles. He brought it to the clay disc—half the size of his palm—and finished the pattern: a swirling shape.
The tiniest slip could still ruin the piece, but now that he’d purchased the dye upgrade, using wax resist was far smoother.
Once the design set, Jack brought both earrings to the tub of slip. The liquid was cool against his fingers as he guided th...

So… which ones did you guess? If you guessed wood, ding, ding, ding. You won!
Why mess with a good thing? Wood chips were delicious, plentiful, and didn’t try to eat me back. It was the most abundant resource around me. I would have settled for fungi and vegetation, too. The other were gross.
The scent of buried bark bits still danced through the air like freshly-baked pretzels—if the baker’s oven was full of compost.
I didn’t know precisely what adding a skill poi...

For a while, all I did was go from snack to snack like a wedding guest who’s been starving for hours and just saw the buffet open. Don't tell me you can't relate. I once saw a fight break out at a wedding over the last piece of cheese on a table. Back when I was human, of course.
Once my stomach stopped trying to turn itself inside out, I finally had a chance to breathe—and think.
That’s when I began to notice just how different this new body was from my old one.

The first time Jack used [Retreat], the hut had felt tight. This time, it was suffocating. Horace, Rob, and he were all wedged together in the tiny space.
"Can anyone move?" Jack asked, his voice muffled against someone’s shoulder.
"I think I can!" Rob wriggled like a worm in a tunnel, slowly edging sideways. With a final grunt, he slipped free, tumbling onto the courtyard floor. That shift gave Horace just enough room to twist and shimmy out as well.
Jack’s heart thudde...

IronFoot hated it—realizing just how thoroughly they’d been played.
Horace had kept them locked in, taunting their pride as much as their cooldowns. Every clash, every line of trash talk, had been calculated. No wonder the guy had survived an encounter with the Slayer. His reputation wasn’t just hype—it was earned.
But now? Now IronFoot saw through the act.
“He’s just buying time. Viper, TwirlFlicker—ignore him. Get the bard. Interrupt the skill.”

I expected to start my new life as an alien beetle inside an egg or as a squishy larva—or, ideally, by waking up and realizing this whole mess was a stress-induced dream.
Nope.
I woke up looking exactly like myself. Two hands. Two feet. Still had a face. I even felt normal.
Well, mostly normal.
I was wearing clothes that fit like a toddler raiding a clown’s wardrobe. The pants were so baggy I could’ve pitched a tent in each leg. The jacket flopped around like it ...
