About that time, Ken landed on the seat beside me and passed me a tall cup full of lemonade and ice. I took a quick sip, mostly to avoid saying anything to him right away. The taste was unmistakable; he had spiked the lemonade with something very like raw alcohol, probably moonshine. Ye cats! It must have been almost half liquor!
I glared at him and put the cup down. He looked directly at me and widened his eyes. I felt a flush of heat that could have been the alcohol or the spice...

I may make this community section a blog where I just write whatever I'm thinking about. Right now, I'm thinking about working on the next chapter of Two for the Road but I need coffee. :)

Turns out that there is a way to integrate Patreon payments into Drupal subscription processing! It will probably take two months or so to work this out and implement because it is very complex and other things (like hardware upgrades) are more pressing.
This effects Patreon right now since there is now no pressing need to migrate Hatbox content to Patreon format. We will continue adding new Hatbox content to Patreon as well as Hatbox.

This is the highest rez copy I can find on any of my machines. It was done so long ago that it was at least three iterations of PhotoShop previous. The story is about a suit that gives the wearer the appearance of a beautiful, sexy and curvaceous waitress.
My idea for the cover was to play on the word Headlights. I found a public domain picture of a 1936 Ford, digitally sliced it up and repasted it over the figure of a girl in a bikini. :) There are some duplicated and flipped slices and I era...

Ken did not take no for an answer and we all ended up in his spanking new Ford F-250 crew cab with the white-over-green paint job. Somehow, I was in front with Ken and Dolly in back with Otis.
“Where you girls from?” Ken asked. “You don’t sound like you’re from around here local.”
“Uh, well, I’m from St. Joe, originally. Everyone in St. Louis thought I sounded like Nebraska,” I admitted, then wanted to kick myself for telling the truth.
“I’m from ...

Would anyone like to see HiRes versions of DopplerPress book covers? These could be attached here in .PNG format at higher resolution than available through Kindle or even BigCloset. I could even include versions without the typography.

Half an hour later, a few minutes past noon, on a different road, clouds had come up west of us. Dark clouds, the kind every Midwesterner learns are full of rain. I turned off the highway down the Main Street of a small town and pulled into a diagonal parking space in front of a Piggly Wiggly.
“Put the top up?” asked Dolly, getting out on the passenger side.
“I think we’d better,” I said. We pulled the soft top out of the boot. It stretched reluctantly, but we got ...

Story I'm working on for Hatbox, here's a sample from the first chapter:
Two for the Road: Sterling, Muhzzurah
It all started in the early summer of 1966 when my uncle Travis Hillsborough died. Or maybe it started with my getting tossed out of college and going to live with Uncle Travis who was my mother’s eldest brother, a lifelong bachelor.
Or let’s be honest, it really started when I discovered my older sister’s clean laundry stacked ...

We're including Patreon donations in the totals for Hatbox reported on the main site. And there will be some Hatbox content available through Patreon as we can get it re-formatted and moved over.

We're going to try this not because Hatbox isn't working but because the technical aspects of keeping it working have become onerous.

Patreon allows anyone to create a community funding platform. We're going to try this for supporting BigCloset TopShelf. The way this works, is you sign up to be a Patron and we make certain content available to people who are contributing.
Not to worry, this won't affect the free nature of BC, this will be kind of similar to the Hatbox but in a different stream. In fact, we will probably move some Hatbox content to Patreon.
