The Second AMA

Mercifully, this is the last time I will assail you before Christmas! Behold the second AMA in which I answer four more of your questions (and ask YOU a question as well). I hope you enjoy the AMA, as I enjoyed recording it. Look for more AMAs in the new year, and if you have any questions or comments about this one, please leave them below.

While the lights are still on at Global HQ, I'm essentially giving up for Christmas. I'm not sure on my exact work schedule, but if you have any pr...

Shunned Valley of the Three Tombs (and more!)

As 2018, hurtles to an end, we got two more products for you! Excitingly, one of them is our first 5e compatible adventure. I'm very keen to see how Shunned Valley of the Three Tombs is received so if you download and run it please let me know what you think. Our Monstrous Lair line also reaches the grand old age of 23 with Sahuagins' Sunken Lair--a handy supplement for aquatic adventure...

Victory is finally mine and I have recorded and uploaded the first Patreon exclusive AMA. I hope you enjoy it and find the questions (and my answers) interesting.

If you've got any comments about AMA #1 or have a questions you'd like me to answer in AMA #2, please leave them in the comments below!

As always, thank you so much for your support!

Village Backdrop: Azagirn

This week, we visit the dwarven village of Azagirn. We haven't really touched on dwarves in the Village Backdrop line and it seemed time we rectified this situation. (Dwarves are, after all, one of the most popular fantasy races and an intrinsic part of literally every campaign world). I hope you can find a place in your campaign for Azagirn.

The Mega Christmas Bundles and AMA

Epic news. As is traditional at this time of year, Raging Swan Press is running a megabindle deal. This year, though, it's a pair of bundles with a difference.

The PDF bundle of 40 of our biggest and best Pathfinder books can be yours for only $29.95. (that's a 95% discount off the $454.52 retail price).

AMA (and a Note About Billing)

I’ve been recently thinking it might be fun to do a video AMA (Ask Me Anything) here on the Patreon page.

I’d like to stay away from sex, religion and politics (let’s pretend we are chatting at a dinner party or family barbecue and little ears lurks nearby) but anything game, campaign or Raging Swan Press related is fair game! (Although I should note I’m no rules savant). Fancy know...

Monstrous Lairs (and a White Dragon Lair)!

December is hurtling toward us and with it the end of the year. At Global HQ, the bad winter weather is most definitely here. (Can you tell I'm English?) That's part of the reason we are focusing on white dragons' lairs for this month's 20 Things release. And along with the in-depth view of white dragons' lairs we are also releasing (in PDF and print) 2018-11-30 08:00:10 +0000 UTC View Post

Behold The Thingonomicon!

The long wait is over--The Thingonomicon is here. I've looked forward to releasing this book for ages and now the day is at hand!

I've been using the actual, physical book in my game for the last month or so (since I got the first proofs) and I'm tremendously chuffed to be releasing a new hardback. Hardbacks feel like "proper" weighty gaming tomes to me and I love that we've released an...

What Lies Under Languard?

This week, along with releasing Monstrous Lair #20: Kobold Warren, we start to answer the question, "What lies beneath Languard's streets?" in the last Languard Locations supplement, Languard Locations: Under the City. This is not the last you'll see of Languard because, as you mi...

Hornwall, Bandit Village?

This week, Jeff Gomez makes a triumphant return to the Village Backdrop line with Hornwall—a village stuffed full of ex-bandit struggling both with its blood-soaked past and potentially blood-soaked future. Jeff’s done a marvellous job bringing the village to life and I hope your players enjoy visiting the place. Hopefully, they’ll get to leave!

In other news, our late November early December line up is looking good. To give you some advance notice of what’s hurtling toward you in the ...

Blue Dragon's Lair

I like dragons, but I never seem to be able to slip enough of them into my campaign. I suspect this is because we prefer low-level play and thus dragons are pretty terrifying and awesome opponents. (Because we use the slow advancement track, it takes about a year to get to 5th-level).

That all said, writing about dragons is great fun and when I got a request for 20 Things #31: Blue Dragon's Lair View Post

Gnoll Camp!

This week, we've got a marvellous free product for you as a thank you for your epic support of Raging Swan Press. Gnolls are pretty nasty desert dwellers and often slavers. Encounters with them should be memorable--they should not just be "random evil humanoid in the desert".

I hope you'll be able to use Monstrous Lair #19: Gnolls' Camp to bring these evil humanoids to life and to give them their own unique flavour.

What Could Be Better?

I'm wondering what I ...

A Herd of Villages

It's a big week at Raging Swan Press as prepare to release GM's Miscellany: Village Backdrop VI for Pathfinder and GM's Miscellany: Village Backdrop III in 5e and System Neutral flavours. Of course, you get the books early today! I hope you are able to include some or all of the villages in your campaign and that your players have a memorable time visiting the various settlements.

What's Your Favourite Edition?

Thank you for voting in last week's poll--almost three-quarters of you did.

I'll be sharing the results later in the week once I'v been able to digest them properly, but your votes have certainly given me some excellent food for thought in regards to next year's schedule.

Anyway--onto this week's poll!

Assuming all three editions (5e, System Neutral, Pathfinder) are available for a product such as a Village Backdrop, Languard Locations or Places of Power, which ...

Come to The Wrecks

This week, sees Richard Pett's second supplement for Raging Swan Press slither into the world in the form of Languard Locations: The Wrecks. Come visit the very worst Languard has to offer! And we also have the somewhat macabre Monstrous Lair #18: Bugbears' Lair for you.

Your Favourite Line Poll

Earlier this week, I set up a poll with the question: 2018-10-12 07:05:48 +0000 UTC View Post

What's Your Favourite Line?

I've started to think about plotting Raging Swan Press's release schedule for 2019.

By the end of 2018 the Languard Locations line will be winding down, and--of course--the Places of Power line also finished this year. It seems like a good idea, therefore, to find out which of our lines was (or is) your favourite.

So--please help me chart 2019 by letting me know which of the lines below is your favourite. (Also, if there is anything else you think I should know feel free to l...

Village Backdrop: Kerwyn's Pride

Do you need a floating village of ex(ish)-pirates for your campaign? Of course you do. Good news--Mike Welham's got you covered with this week's release: Village Backdrop: Kerwyn's Pride!

Built upon the ruins of a pirate fleet doomed by a savage storm, the floating village of Kerwyn’s Pride now serves as a base from which to thwart piratical activity in the surrounding waters, a shipyard fo...

20 Things #30 Orc Village

Virtually every campaign's got orcs in it. Orcs fill a niche like kobolds--low-level fodder that the PCs (hopefully) slay in vast numbers.

This week's book--20 Things #30: Orc Village--gives you the tools to add depth, flavour and detail into the orc villages in your campaign. You can also use many of the tables for orc caverns as well. However, you use the book I hope it mak...

Villages of Ashlar (and a Witch's Hovel)!

Villages of Ashlar is finally here!

As you might recall, Villages of Ashlar was meant to release last month, but problems with the physical print versions of the book forced me to delay it a month. Well the wait is over!

As well as gathering all of Ashlar's villages in the same place for the first time I'm particularly excited about this release because Tommi Salama has updated many of the village maps to his own epic style. Tommi has done all our Gloamhold ...

Languard Locations: Fishshambles

This week, we are back in Languard--and we are diving into the Fishshambles district! This instalment of the Languard Location line grew out of the open call Raging Swan launched earlier in the year. The standard of entries for Languard Locations: Beyond the Walls was so high we decided to convert some of the suitable locations into the Fishshambles. I couldn't see them on the "cutting room floor".

Into the Lich's Lair

As a (Pathfinder) GM, I love liches. Liches are awesome because every one is unique. As powerful spellcasters, they also give you lots of fun options.

As a player, I love liches somewhat less.

But whichever side of the GM's screen I lurk, a lich's lair should be an exciting and unique locale--one the players will remember for a long time. That's where 2018-08-31 07:05:27 +0000 UTC View Post

GM's Screens and Villages of Ashlar

This week, Raging Swan Press was meant to be releasing Villages of Ashlar. Unfortunately, some technical problems (see below if you are interested in the full story) have meant I’m uncomfortable releasing the product as it stands. This sucks, as I really want to show you the new (epic) maps Tommi has done for several of the villages.

You might remember that some months ago, Raging Swan Press launched an open call for new designers to try their hand at submitting a pitch for publication. 20 Things #28: Travellers' Inn

Adventurers never seem to own houses. Itinerant wanders, they often end up staying in taverns and inns. Often GMs hand wave such parts of the PCs' travels. That's a bit of a shame as some drinking, chatting with locals, perhaps a bit of gambling and--occassionally-- a brawl are a great change of pace to the normal flavour of a game session.

With that in mind, I present to you 20 Things #28: Travellers' Inn. Within you'll find handy tables designed to help bring flavour and detai...

Blackhill Gaol

This week, Jacob W. Michaels serves up a different kind of village altogether--a prison from which most of the inmates don't want to leave! This is the perfect village to place a nefarious NPC the PCs really need to meet. Perhaps the NPC has special information or skills the party needs. Alternatively, a roguish PC could be looking for a friend or relative imprisoned at Blackhill Gaol.
