Bart Wynants is back this week with the second in-print Storyline book—Sacred Blood. This book comprises the three instalments in the line Dungeon Backdrop: Aninas Family Crypt, Dungeon Backdrop: Undercity Chapel and Dungeon Backdrop: Martryn Manor along with an overview of the City of Languard and everything contained in the Sacred Blood storyline download.

Into a Noble’s Manor House
Fresh from the frenzy of Thingonomicon II we stay with 20 Things with Mike Welham’s 20 Things #65: Noble’s Manor House. If your characters are about to meet a noble—or break into their house—this is the book for you! I hope you also find the new .txt files bundled with the book useful and convenient.
I know I’ve asked this before, but if you’ve got a moment a review or rating of 2021-10-01 06:56:03 +0000 UTC

As you might remember, a few weeks ago I asked you if you wanted text (.txt) files for some of books—mostly notably the 20 Things line.
I’m back with another question, today:
Would you also like other editions (such as epub) of our 20 Things line?
I’ve uploaded a zip file to this post which contains versions of Mike Welham’s 20 Things #62: Sunken Ship designed for Apple Books, Google Play, Kindle, Kobo and Nook.
I would love your...

I wanted to drop you a brief note to update you on text files and to ask you a favour about the Thingonomicon II.
An Update
Thank you to those who voted in the recent text files poll. I found the results and comments most illuminating.
Given that more of you than not would find text files useful I’ll be moving ahead with providing them with new 20 Things releases.
I’m also planning to go back into the line’s depths to add them to older releases. (You...

In hugely exciting news (for me, and hopefully you) we release the second Thingonomicon on Monday! This book is a labour of love for me. It’s an epically useful book, and our first new hardback for some time.
I hope you can find a place for it on your GM’s shelf.
And we’ve also got a new mini-eventure for you today! You’ll find all the files attached to this post. Download as many as you’d like!

This week, we have some sinister villains ready for your campaign. Campaign Codex #3: Villains presents seven detailed villains of various levels ready to unleash onto your unsuspecting characters. Use them as reoccurring foes or plunder their stat blocks for a (challenging) random encounter.
Campaign Codex #3: Villains is available in 5e, OSR and Pathfinder 1 editions.

I received an email from a customer the other day, asking for the contents of one of our larger dressing books in spreadsheet format. They found the PDF unwieldy to work with, and difficult to extract from. Sadly, no such version of the book is available—I tend to flee at the first sign of a spreadsheet—but the request got me thinking.
Would You Use Text Files?
I think plain text files (the .txt format) could work particularly well for some of our books (and not work a...

This week, Bart Wynants brings us back to Languard for the final part of the Sacred Blood storyline. In this month’s instalment, the party must (perhaps using subtly and tact) break-in to a manor house of singular sinister repute. I’m sure nothing will go wrong.
About Martryn Manor
A dissonant chorus of low moaning and high-pitched laughter echoes from the grand ballroom, where Languard’s lowest elements mingle with its haughty elite. Luxuriating in their black euphoria, t...

This week, Jacob W. Michaels gives you the tools to quickly and easily add minor points, features and events of interest to your characters’ overland journeys. Journeys are so often glossed over during the build up to an adventure, but they can be valuable tools in the GM’s arsenal. You can use them to build tension, set the scene, introduce important (and not so important) NPCs and more.
Behold: 20 Things 64: On the Road!

Raging Swan Press recently released a 5e edition of Shadowed Keep on the Borderlands. Part of the design process (beyond converting the adventure to 5e) was to make it better. I’ve learnt a lot about design in the eight years since the adventure first released. These improvements include extra details about Dulwich, fleshing out the surrounding area, new gorgeous maps by Tommi Salama, more original art from Matt Morrow and a better, easier to use layout.
I couldn’t not brin...

Last year, we updated the Lonely Coast for Pathfinder 1st edition and OSR games. Today, it’s the turn of the 5th edition of the world’s most popular roleplaying featuring dungeons and/or dragons.
Converting the Lonely Coast to 5e has been a surprisingly long process—curse the need for “tons” of new stat blocks—but I am chuffed (English for “proud”) with the result.
And, as you can imagine, I can’t wait to bring Retribition—our first ever product—to y...

Thank you for voting in last week’s poll. I’m delighted the poll got over 240 votes—2/3rds of Raging Swan Press’s patrons. The results were illuminating (and surprising)

Unsurprisingly, 5e was far away the most popular game system. I was surprised, however, with the relative rankings for OSR, Pathfinder 1 and Pathfinder 2. In particular, the popularity of Pathfinder 1 and ...

Every year or so I like to check in with you regards our mix of 5e, OSR, Pathfinder 1, Pathfinder 2 and System Neutral books. I want to make sure we are offering the right mix of editions/versions for as many people as possible.
For example, if no one uses the OSR editions of our books we could (and should) shift focus and resources to books that would better help us all run more awesome games.
So with that in mind, please answer the following question:

Yesterday, I posted the wrong mini-eventure! Instead of updating yesterday's post, I thought it easier--and clearer--to post the proper files here.
My apologies for the confusion--the error was wholly mine. I'd love to blame someone else, but sadly no one else is available!

Six years later, I still enjoy writing the articles, and I hope you enjoy reading them to.

In another slight change of plan, I’ve brought forward the release of Dungeon Dressing: Miscellaneous Decorations from early next month to this month. Why? Well, the same reason as last week. They would mock me for all time, and that cannot be allowed to stand.

In a slight change of plan, I’ve brought forward the release of the free and exclusive Patreon mini-eventure High City by Day by a week. Why? Well, I was planning to release the compilation of the Secret Name storyline this week, but the physical proofs have only just arrived, and I need to (carefully) proof them.
