In any book, there's a Chosen One main character. an old mentor (usually the mentor has a long gray beard - but that's optional) and the main character's support group.All this gang needs to defeat a super evil dude who is needed for good to triumph over him/ her ))

I love books in the fantasy and wuxia genres for their amazing ability to remain unchanged over time.
When book worlds span centuries, nothing changes: social, technological, political, or cultural. I wonder if the characters feel safe in such a stable world, or vice versa.
For example, in «Dragon Heart» series, there are always wars, duels with monsters, and confrontations with dangerous mages!

One of my favorite clichés in fantasy novels is that the main character has a favorite pet.
If the hero is lonely, he/she is bound to meet an animal that becomes attached to him/her and follows him/her everywhere.
Sometimes the author fantasizes and gives the furry creature consciousness and intelligence.

As a fan of the fantasy genre, I've noticed that 90 percent of fantasy protagonists have a prophecy about their future. Typically, the MH either ignores the prophecy or tries to run away from it, but in the end, all of his or her actions lead to the fulfillment of the prophecy.

As a writer of the fantasy genre, I've noticed that a major part of the plot of all books is the journey.
The main character is always going somewhere.
The hero is traveling from point A to point B to rescue a princess, fight a dragon, find a treasure, or throw the main villain into a gushing volcano.
The journey to point B takes up most of the narrative, but the journey back is usually short and boring.

I have no idea why they would want to do that.
Power is a nice thing, but in limited quantities. Ruling one country/kingdom/empire is enough to satisfy their ambitions.

Surely you have noticed that the main character of a fantasy, no matter how much he wants to be, has no right to be an ordinary character.
He is always stronger, smarter, more agile than other characters, has qualities that no one else has, because... HE is the protagonist!
