hello folks. it's a new month, so an update from me.
this one is a reference to august's image of last year, which was kind of a catalyst for retouching trist's fursona and for trying out limited palettes more confidently. it was one of the first times where i felt like the limitation of the colors made the choices stand out in a nice way rather than struggling to remain cohesive and bold.

i don't have much to say about this page aside from restating the fact that this is the condensed version of 3 scenes into 1 page. i realized that there was no need to try to remember group therapy sessions in detail solely to establish that therapy does in fact take place multiple times per day.
i also want to refrain from stating the species of all of the characters in this page for now to give people a chance to guess first... guessing is half the fun.

there's not a lot of interest happening in the shot composition or dialog of this page... it just establishes how check-in works, and sets up a scene transition idea i had to avoid walking the audience through another expository scene just to establish what the CBT group therapy looks like before another plot beat.
... it also hits a note i mentioned planning on hitting for a while, which is the kimmy thing. sometimes i worry that i'm just totally bullshitting this and deluding myself into...

anyway... glad to have gotten this done, hoping to have more short little ideas like this. also... i noticed that a lot of my punchline setups have involved some inner train of thought... hopefully it doesn't bother anyone, i'm sure it's just a phase.

this page is late because... significant computer problems.

i've been having trouble with figuring out what to do with the shading process lately (obvious to anyone who has seen my personal tumblr recently)... i've left this page with only block cel shading for now. i need to try to figure out how to make it look natural without looking lazy, but the last few pages have looked really bad and overworked to me.
even if i didn't touch the shading at all in this page, i still need to go ...

wow, page 20 already, huh?

this page was a little bit late for reasons... pretend i'm on PST.
i don't have much to say about this page besides that it made me realize that "a couple extra panels" adds up very fast in terms of how much more time a page takes, and that i don't think i'm super good at mentally differentiating between exposition/introductory material and plot development because to me it's always "introducing" new information.

liron's really tricky to put into a palette, and i forgot to draw him entirely on a separate layer to try out an idea i had for integrating him into a simple palette, but this turned out visually okay. i'll just have to remember for next time.

i said not all of the sketch strips were going to be folie a dupe but this one was one i started in march and it was a humor strip so i'm not counting it as a strike against me!!!

hello again, folks, it's a new month, so i'm checking in with another update.

last month was definitely a slog, but i got a lot done compared to the previous months in the year so far...
fresh meat's back to updating, and while i'll tentatively a little nervous about keeping the updates on schedule because i've already whittled down the sketch buffer i had to 1 page ahead because i've been unable to keep up. we'll see how that goes.

i really wasn't happy with this page... a lot of the panels i redrew altogether. the sketches were old-ish and i was struggling to conceptualize shapes with more pressing matters at the time. still, some of them i didn't have the time or energy or skill to figure out how exactly i could get them to work better.

hi all. sorry for the silence in the last week or 2. i moved, and things went really awry, but things are looking livable in the new apartment now. we actually just got our internet activated today around 2 or 3 pm.
