OKAY! Let’s just get it out of the way that I am a very indecisive artist, to say the least. I sit and contemplate a piece to death through every step of the way before publishing it, and then sometimes even continue to work on it after I have hit ”share” on all my social media. This piece was of a particular challenge, though, because I am unfortunately pretty bad at drawing hats at all, let alone one sitting on someone’s head (if you look at my Gertrude drawings with any scrutiny, i...

Here is a new completed piece, my pink leather cowgirl! She was honestly incredibly challenging, not least of which is because I don’t usually draw western-wear! In any case, here she is with a few process images, from pencils to inks and then flats! I hope y’all enjoy! :)))

Hi, y’all! While I am in the process of working on a couple of pieces, I thought I would just share a few sketches I’ve had lying around. As you can see now (and will likely continue to see in the future), I sketch A LOT of faces! It’s just what my hand goes to in the immediate when I don’t know what else to draw, and it also feels really satisfying to have something that actually just has a vibe in a way other things might not - I dunno!
Also here you’ll see this like five-m...

Hi y’all! Just wanted to give an update on the future of my Patreon! So I have decided to reestablish my Patreon by eliminating tiers aside from the first two, and changing a bit of what each tier includes (nothing is really lost in either, but there is more to be gained on the process wrt to the second tier); honestly, I am really looking forward to pushing this experience to be the best for all of us!
With this, I will be starting payments up again come November 1st, and so if anyon...

Okay y’all - so my friends have tried to convince me to keep this thing going, and so here’s what I am going to do! Instead of shutting it down, I am going to ponder for a month on it, putting it on hold for that time (it shouldn’t pull any money from y’all for this coming cycle). After the month is passed, I’ll give my decision on whether to keep going, or to just drop it all.
In any case, what y’all can do is either drop your pledges, if you’d rather not wait and see, or...

Hey y’all, just wanted to let you know that I’ll be shutting down my Patreon on Thursday, Feb 27, and so if you haven’t yet downloaded MY LIFE TO LIVE (see last post!!!) and you’d still like to, now is the time to do it!!
Thank you all so very, very much :))))

Hi y'all. Unfortunately I cannot figure out how to send attachments through messages on here (if someone does know, please let me know), but I am going to attach a PDF of my full book here so you can download it before I end this thing in a couple of days! Thank you so much, and I hope you enjoy it.
Just wanted to say, as this is likely my last post on here, that I greatly appreciate all y'all have done for me, and I wish you all well.

Hi y’all.
I really wish it didn’t have to come to this, simply because I wish I had pushed myself to keep up posting and the like - since last I posted I’ve finished, published, and sold out of an entire book, and I have done a few drawings since (and am now preparing my second book). None of that ended up here, and for that I want to apologize. While I will be closing up shop here before the end of the month, I want to send you all PDFs of my book before I do so; please look out...

Hi y’all! I recently finished the cover to my upcoming comic book, MY LIFE TO LIVE, which is premiering at STAPLE! on October 12-13. The book is twenty pages, and I hope you’ll find it super worthwhile!

The cover is based off this super famous photograph of Jean-Luc Godard. I had thought about doing the cover like this months ago, but for whatever reason, I ended up deciding against it; the...

Hey y’all. In the midst of working on my comic for STAPLE!, I still have a few other things to do, and one is the five mini prints I’ll be selling (mostly as a set, but I’ll sell them individually, too). Each one will be of a babe in a leather jacket, because of course they will be.

And here are a couple of process shots. Initially I had her arm in a different place, but reali...

Here are some shots of new pages I am working on. I’m approaching this comic slowly but surely, and basically just trying to get the basis of each page knocked out in pencils and then move on, rather than spend my entire life getting a page right on the first go (I am a MAJOR perfectionist, and so this way keeps me actually progressing on pages, rather than getting bogged down in detail).
Because of this, these pages, at this state, are unfinished, but the basic idea of what happens ...

Hey y’all, here is an update! I have pencilled four pages of my upcoming comic, which I’ll be premiering at STAPLE! in October! Working on more today - hoping to have the short book finished by August, but we’ll see!
The comic is primarily about transformations by looking at your past and seeing the ways in which you can take what you’ve done and constructively rebuild your present. I ...

Art slumps suck for a lot of reasons, but I have been trying to work through mine for a while now (unfortunately to little avail, but...). Still, I have been typically putting hours per day into drawing, only to come out with a few things that I’m fond of, if any. And so here are some I was working on!

This was something that I liked quite a bit, but I felt it was a bit rough for m...

So here is the finished flyer I mentioned in my last post. This took me long (too long) to do, and sometimes I got discouraged because my tools weren’t working in the way I wanted. Still, I’m going to take you on a quick step-by-step process of the building of this!
Basically, the layout is exactly what I had in mind initially: a girl dancing, with her right leg crossing down the...

Rn I am working on my best friend’s birthday present, which is v exciting but also challenging cuz it includes lot of pugs and creativity, neither of which I am great at. After that I have a flyer to draw for this big upcoming LGBTQIA+ SWSW showcase, which I have to have done by Feb 16 (this i...

So I have “completed” the pencils on the comic commission, which was a pretty startling challenge, as I realized that fitting in whole narrative into one 9x12 Page was...well, it meant losing some of the detail I typically put into things. I’ll have it inked in the next day or two, but for now let me show you 1) how the page looked when I still had stuff to fix/wasn’t fully sure what I was doing with that third panel, and 2) the more or less finished pencils.

My friend Meg has hired me to do a one-page comic about her friend Hayes as a Buffy-type who beats up on white men, which is going pretty well thus far! There wasn’t a lot of direction, apart from it being a scene of fighting going over one page, with a big splash of them as the last panel.
Here is the (admittedly quick) design for Hayes’ outfit

I ended up planning the page in a w...

So unfortunately that comic IS going to have to wait a little bit, BUT at least the commissions that I am working on right now are having a tendency of being things that I am happier to draw (ya know, cool-looking people in leather jackets).
One of them is going to be a full comic book page (probably in landscape format). That’ll be this person kicking the shot out of a bunch of men while wearing dope clothes. I’ll post the process of that one as I work on it!
For now, I finished my...

So I am finally back on the horse, after a several month-long, incredibly stressful period in my life in which I made art a lot less than I would have liked. I send my sincerest apologies to each and every one of you who has continued to support me throughout this time, but also my incredible gratitude: Thank you.
Another reason why comics are so hard for me (unfortunately) is because I keep cycling between ideas that hit on the same things over and over again (two magical queer women with lik...

I talked about this a little bit on Twitter recently, but I am going to reiterate and expand upon the topic a bit, as I think it's something worthwhile to discuss.
Serge Daney, the great French film critic, wrote an essay entitled THE TRACKING SHOT IN KAPO, in which he described Jacques Rivette's review (which he had read in his youth) of the Gillo Pontecorvo film KAPO - and, more specifically, one particular shot, that in which Emanuelle Riva throws herself into a barbed-wire fence, and ...

I am doing this comic with Michelle Perez, and so here are some thumbnails for the start! I don't usually do thumbnails for any comics, but also, since my comics are not usually written beforehand, that kinda makes sense. Having a script and trying to fit it all in here, while keeping the pages interesting, has been a lot of work - and it still could expand (as I don't really know if I can still fit all the info I want onto that third-to-last page - cuz there is a lot of dialogue there). I kinda...

So as some of you may know, I am trying to put together a book that revolves around sixties mod shit, and so I have made a few rough character sketches here for stuff that I wanna do in that book. Also, I need to figure out what the book's about. Yeah.
I think I am trying to focus primarily on fashionable young women. Of course some boys show up. Of course they're probs shitty. But I dunno. Feel like I am pulling a lot from lower-budget European movies of that time, especially with regar...

Ugh, fine, whatevs, I probably thought, and then I picked up the book and started going through it.
