So here's the final version of the anemone flipbook - and dunno if we're gonna use the disclaimer on those - that might be updated to just the intro - or a simpler, short-into, well, we'll see. :D
Scene file: www.bit.ly/ff_anemone
So time for you guys to be producers. :D I want a song for the intro/outro and either i keep the one Maxime used in this first setup, or I use some other song - and here I'd love suggestions, you can check www.jamendo.com, www.artlist.io, or any other place where I can license a song - or ill just use new music for each release... What do you guys think..?

So... It has taken some time but here's the first video with the new look and feel created by my new production manager, Maxime Rouleau-Villeneuve.
As I haven't posted anything openly for a month, I excluded this from the one week exclusive for you on the $3 tier - hope that's ok for this time. :D
But going forward now we will work on getting a good workflow going and also getting started with the site and the inventory. And itsn't it fascinating this happened on the first day of t...
So my new graphics, intro, outro, credits, etc, are getting close to finished, so hopefully we'll get the last two breakdown I have recorded posted, as well as publishing the last two flipbook openly...
But I'm still looking for someone to do my website (and another site for an upcoming project) but as soon as I have that sorted, one of my patrons will be helping me doing the inventory, sort out which scene files that needs updating, etc...
And to remind everyone, the idea is to co...
So I've posted similar setups to this before, but this was a spinoff from an upcoming pighead dollar bill wrap setup that I'm just not happy with yet, but I will hopefully get that out in the days to come as well.

So I don't think I posted this gif before but as I just been stuck in production and haven't been able to post anything, I feel I at least have to tease you with some upcoming stuff. So I will finish and share the pighead money wrap first, but after that, this is one of the setups I'd love to clean up and post... I just love the knit stuff but I haven't shared anything in that area myself, so it's about time I'd say. :D

Pretty straight forward setup on how to do recursive splitting in Houdini. :D

So just now, as I'm uploading a re-record of my drooping wires quick tip, I passed 300 patrons - wow, that's amazing! :D
And I have been trying for a week to record a video update with the city as a backdrop but I've had issues with wind and trying to record in direct sunlight to get decent exposure of me and the city at the same time - not easy, I can say, and we've come to a point where I'm just gonna post the update here! :D
So the idea going forward is to ramp all this up a fair bit...
So here's another quick tip on a simple trick I use pretty often and hopefully someone will have use of it. :D

So, this is the first of a new series of tutorials and quicktips from yours truly. I'm also getting back into doing breakdowns and hoping to have the first one out within a couple of days. :)

So I had a lot of people ask me to share the setup with the FLIP sim I posted back when I posted the original video/scene file, and it took a while, but here it is. Enjoy. :D

And I posted this openly I already posted 2 Houdini scene files here the last couple of days. :)

I created this for a guy on Twitter yesterday, one of those 5 minute setups I do just to demo a concept - it's often less hassle than trying to explain how to do it - but thought I'd post it here just to have it here as well. Super simple setup using the tetrahedralize- and find shortest path SOP :D
Scene file: www.bit.ly/ff_simple_space_colonization
Funny story... The last file, the dancing guy dissolve thingie, the guy who asked for how to do that, I thought he had an animated butterfly he wanted to dissolve - eh, no - he wanted to dissolve something into butterflies... Oops. :D
But that sounded like fun and as I had time between other things I thought I'd set it up. The flight behavior is quite crappy and the transition is kinda faked, but I plan to set this up on an animated mesh as well as try another CRAZY idea I got for a dis...

Wow, so I got a lot of questions on this one... :D
* Can you combine this with actual particles?
Yes, I updated the file with an example of that, emitting particles from the edges of the extrude as the flakes shrink.
* Is he nude?
No, he's obviously wearing some kind of shoes. I also suspect he's been dipped in off-white polyurethane floor paint.
* Do the flakes collide with the body?
They do in the updated scene file, as does the secondary particles in th...

So this was something I played around with doing the water balloon setup but I never got around to post it. Seeing the two last scenes I felt it fitting, from shattering to ash to paint flakes. Pretty basic stuff as usual, but a great foundation to build upon for this type of effect. :)

Now, I know what most of you want to comment but seriously, I don't want to go ...eh... there, so don't ruin it for others. Just sayin' :D
That being said - basically a 15 minute setup, as simple as you can do this effect, but effective enough and a great start for doing this kinda thing. :)
The stashed" scene file has the boolean operation cached in the file, bigger download but way faster to load as it doesn't have to calculate that pretty hefty boolean. ;)

So I played around with this way back but I never came around to create a scene file out of it. I was reminded of the idea the other day and I thought it would be a fitting scene file to share. And yeah, you could do something way more fun with this, like shockways from dropping something on a surface and have floor tiles or something ripple, and if I get time I might make an additional scene file for that. :)

So Simon Fiedler asked about this on Twitter and I fought it for a while before I found the setedgegroup() function... :D
setedgegroup(0, "edgegroup", @ptnum, @ptnum+1, 1);
Cool little trick! :D
Simple POP branching setup. And branching is surprisingly non-intuitive to setup in Houdini and though you don't have to set this up using streams, it's the way where you have the most visual feedback in the network editor of what's going on - but this whole thing with groups and streams isn't the easiest thing to wrap your mind around, so hopefully this helps a bit. :)

So I really wanna get a course out and getting somewhat ready to record I have a couple of different subjects to choose from, so having the choice, you want me to make a course on the...
(edit - changed the poll to 4 days, I'd say it's already pretty clear what people want me to do, so :D)
Just doodling while watching some tutorials... :D
Very basic, but it can be a lot of fun playing around with stuff like this just to see what pops out of it and sometimes it just gives news ideas and inspiration...

So this was never meant to be posted as a scene file, I just wanted to demo that POP grain based cloth worked on animated meshes as well, but as I promised it on Facebook, I'm making this available to non Patrons directly. :)

So I've had this idea for a while, take one of the mocap meshes, delete all points but those you need for a stick figure, add a polywire and some spheres... Boom. Now I wish I hadn't because this is disconcerting as F... xD

Never intended to share this one but as I posted it on Facebook and Twitter, better post it here so it's in the feed at least. :)

So Jacys Lin asked me yesterday if I knew how to do this, and I did not - which of course is the best reason to figure it out and set it up! :D
