I need to change the site's header to usher in the third year. something big and brassie. wish I could do curvy lettering well, but I like messing with photoshop and trying in there with text and stuff. it's a different form of sketching and art.

i guess the next story is going to be about being sick.

page before last. I only want to take a week break because I'm treating it like actual time has gone by from last story to the next, or like a tv show. Very Lofty Thoughts, kc. Yikes.  Maybe no break, I'm chuggin along fine.

I really do need to sit down and think of the various tribulations and trials crange gets to go through the in the final year of the comic. Figure out how much room for "filler" before we have to step into the last thread of stories to end it.

I thought I'd work ahead and I ended up finishing Monday's Page ahead of the schedule I set for myself. I finished it before I finished coloring the page before it. Extra free time to work on a couple of other things (and time to play that thimbleweed park, *raises eyebrows up-and-down in a gamerly fashion*)

i had an idea to make everything a bright red underneath the mower originally and then do black on red, everything bright and crazy. Wanted to work in the phrase RED ECLIPSE like it meant something but it means nothing and went no where, which is fine. It didn't need anything extra like that. plus the red on black is a more fearful look.

This update will actually be 2 pages, but I didn't finish the second page for this update yet. Coloring will thankfully be easy with the red and black contrast I decided to go with! You gotta believe your characters peril yourself or else it doesn't work. But I also recognize the odd scenario can be seen as funny. So I take the humor seriously, which is funny in a way that I like. 

Anyway, I have been thinkin' up this next sequence for a while and am gonna make it look weird and cool the best I can. This whole story was brought on by lemon demon's "spiral of ants" so at least I've been cookin it in my head for almost a year.

I'm workiNg on developing a new drawing schedule of little deadlines to meet once a day. so im not scrambling all day last minute for the page update day. I'm better when I have a goal to reach and a time limit set. And when I give a shit! Anyway, structure helps with drawing, while writing is an insane task for anyone that happens at any time of the day and all the time anyway all day. Autonomous drawing, spontaneous writing. Im cool as hell. BYE!!!!!

and here we are, just finished inking page six of the story (15 pages total). trying to let myself be ahead and not doing this the night before. Try to set hours for yourself as a working cartoonist where you are your own boss. I set down to finish work, which was inking this page and coloring it tomorrow. More can always be done, but there's no one there to push you but yourself.

it just occurred to me, that there is a missing element in this page that I was saving til I colored it. The pieces of papers on the wall are to be covered in circles, spirals of it everywhere and they start to just bleed into a mess in the background as crange and the ant get into some buuullllll shhhiiiiiiiiit. so imagine... circles. thanks.

this is the final story to year 2 of hiagb. I only call it year 2 cus it'll be its 2nd anniversary on april 1 and not necessarily that 2 years have gone by in the story. but thats all confusing even when it has taken 2 years to get to here. bad naming convention, i agree.

I feel like I got a fire under my ass slightly when I read about Guillermo Del Toro's Pinocchio and how he picked "Over the Garden Wall" Patrick McHale to write it . I know everyone has done and will do pinocchio adaptations and that's not new, but reading that made me go "oh fuck" and I gotta quit laying down on this boy. We're halfway done for god's sake.

This week's BACK was rollin around so much in my head that I wanted to sketch it out myself, which saves Anthony, the artist, some time on his end. And I am happy to do that too. unused lógo

was asked professionally by friends to make a logo for a thing that ultimately got dropped for good good reasons. but I still was happy with my work on this weird fuzzy and chunky logo. especially on the "EEK" of week.
