This should have been up several days ago, but I've been experimenting with 60fps timelines, just to get s m o o t h animations in the final render. Final Cut does NOT like this, apparently, so this one was kind of a pain to export.

Hey Patrons!
I originally was going to make this one of my classic gig vlogs for our LPR show the other week. However, I'm getting to the point where I always want to make sure the rehearsal is filmed so I can do that thing where I cut back and forth between the gig and the rehearsal, which makes for a very satisfying edit, I think.

It's been a moment, hasn't it? I've been busy with some behind-the-scenes stuff, some non YouTube music stuff, and in general life away from the screen, so sorry uploads haven't been as frequent. But hopefully this one was worth some of the wait! A little video essay on a rhythmic puzzle in James Brown's I Got You. This was a fun one to make, covering linguistic stress, metric stress, and how syncopation can screw up perception of both.
