The Force Wills - Chapter 36

The Kote folded its wings into landing configuration and I felt the slight thump through the ship as it settled on the deck of the primary hangar bay of the Jedi Temple. My hands went through the shutdown and safety procedures with only half a mind’s attention, whilst the rest of me was probing the future to the best of my ability within the blasted miasma of the Shroud.

This was not going to be fun.

I didn’t need prescience to construct a number of scenarios how this...

The Force Wills - Chapter 35

I had to admit that I was impressed.

The flight from Concordia to Sundari was too brief, but now that I was flying from Sundari to the northern hemisphere of Mandalore, taking the long route as it were, I was fully appreciating the performance of my Kom’rk class fighter-transport fully.

From outside, the ship was 68 meters of sleek deadliness, shaped like an elegant tri-pronged blade. It had the blue color scheme of the Death Watch, but I didn’t mind it.

Where t...

I was going to kill Leet.

That was the only remedy I could see to the notion that he’d planted into my head. Perhaps I could hit up the Foundation, if they showed up, for some amnestics.

My eyes blearily took in the wiki page of the Dungeons and Dragons Fifth Edition on the succubi race.

It was ridiculous.

I didn’t have horns, nor a tail, though I could maybe grow the latter. My body just didn’t have the base structure or DNA basis to have horns grow out of my fo...

All the major clans of Mandalore were seated around an impressively sized circular ‘table’. It wasn’t so much a singular table, as it was a modular assembly arranged into a circle and could be adjusted if a clan was to gain enough rep or power to get a seat. In the same way, a clan could lose its seat if it died out or lost prestige and if no minor house was ready, the table would shrink. The minor houses of Mandalore were present though and they stood arrayed around the table, usually ...

The Force Wills - Chapter 33

It was well into the Concordian evening when Anakin and I finally managed to squeeze some time to discuss everything that had just happened.

Thirty seven Death Watch members had survived the battle and all were on board with my leadership - as long as I took on the title, identity and culture of a Mandalorian. That wasn’t too much of a stretch, considering the actual tenets of the Resol’nare.

The Way or Six Tenets were essentially; wear armor, spea...

For the Duchess of Mandalore to travel anywhere was not just a matter of getting in a shuttle and going. There were protocols to be followed even on short notice trips such as this. Her security detail arranged and briefed, her shuttle had to be serviced and triple inspected. She had to empower the Prime Minister to rule in her stead and last of all, get appropriately dressed.

Mandalorians and Satine had a much more practical side when it came to travel fashion. Gone was her headdress, ...

The Force Wills - Chapter 31

The following morning I was steadily walking down the serving line of the common central cafeteria in the Jedi Temple, with tray in hand and steadily building up my breakfast.

The place was filled with mostly initiates, adepts and cadres of younglings of various ages all going about filling their bellies. Few and far between were padawans and knight-teachers who were riding herd on some of them. It looked like a far more orderly scene than I’d experienced in high school, whilst the vo...

The Azure Star and the surviving ships of her battlegroup exited hyperspace and after a brief burn, entered orbit of Taris.

As much as both Anakin and I would’ve liked to formally transfer our ‘flags’ to the giant Mandator dreadnought, it was just too slow strategically and you couldn’t fight a dynamic war when your ship first needed political support from the Senate Loyalist Committee to go anywhere. There was already a sentiment that the Azure had to be pulle...

You would think after speaking to a sentient pipe for a while I’d be less shocked at the idea of a sentient, fully mobile statue. Perhaps it was the fact that ‘he’ was human shaped, if absolutely enormous at just under eight feet tall. That he was moving quite fluidly despite being made of granite - a material that couldn’t organically flex or deform. It was like I was looking at super stock motion or one of those statue-imitating street performers, only absolutely real.

I took ...

That my path in this life had seen fit to put me here gave me both the oddest sense of deja vu mixed with coming full circle. Old memories of another life bubbling to the surface, that served as an odd mix of catalyst and anchor, allowing that connection in the Force to bring forth ‘echoes’ of what had happened in the distant past.

This was a skill known to the Jedi, in areas where extreme emotion had occurred or even people had died, they could actually ‘experience’ what had ha...

It took six days to reach Kuat all the way from Geonosis.

A journey that was a much needed return to the normalcy of routine operations for the crew of Resolute. It kept me mostly busy with the routine of command, organizing for the ship’s maintenance cycle it would go through at Kuat and the installation of a new toy that the Republic Navy wanted to test out. I’d never say no to the Resolute getting an upgrade in capability but it was experimental and as such thin...

The muscles in my legs and feet flexed as I went through a stretching exercise for them. Also absently using the Force internally to help the blood flow along down there. It was the best that could be done considering I was stuck in the cockpit of my Z-95.

My fighter, along with Wraith and Shadow squadrons, were on stand-by readiness in the hangar bays of Resolute.

Thankfully this form of alert readiness meant my fighter’s canopy was still open, my flight helmet off and...

The first thing I did was to calm down and accept that I couldn’t have foreseen everything, releasing the emotions of frustration and anger, letting it pass through me and into the Force.

Do or do not, there is no try.

In the next moment, I expanded my awareness and senses to encompass the entirety of Resolute. I felt every erg of energy that flowed through the ship’s conduits like blood flowing through veins, the movement of air through the spaces of the ship, pushed...

Anakin held onto the overhead handle in the passenger bay of his gunship as it sped through the dry Geonosian air. The seemingly endless mountains and valleys of this part of the planet was the only thing that served to differentiate it from the world of his birth. Otherwise it was a world of orange and dull browns with hardly any vegetation to speak of.

The gunship’s engines whined into a higher pitch and he felt the craft flare into its landing cycle.

A slight shudder reverber...

“Thank you for breaking the blockade and for the offer, commander, but it’s not necessary.”

I stared at the holo of Iridonian Prime Chief Marag and struggled to push away the brush of Darth Maul coloring my perceptions of the zabrak species. Marag, like most of the zabrak, had a crown of vestigial and very sharp horns, but his skin in contrast to Maul was brown and quite human-like, with even a full head of black hair on his scalp. His face was an intricate mesh of artistic tattoo...

The sun rose at last and I decided to spend the day outdoors.

Our backyard wasn’t that large, but it was a nice uninterrupted stretch of lawn with a few small trees along the fences. The only thing that was missing to complete the picture was a pool, but that had been outside of the budget of the previous owner and it was completely out of the question for me and dad.

We did have an outdoor table and chairs that in merrier times we used to eat Sunday lunch on. The f...

My eyes stared at the astrographic galaxy map and it seemed to be mocking me. Throwing me a puzzle that whoever was my opposite number on the CIS side had crafted. I fiddled with the holotable controls and scrolled the map slowly, up, down, left, right, all the while trying to put myself in the enemy’s shoes and their thinking.

“Ah, there you are, commander.”

Yularen walked into the primary pilot briefing room, looking much more like his usual stoic self. All shipshape and B...

It was heaven to be under a shower which I could just stay in until I got wrinkly skin. Not that I did that often, but it was more accurate to say, it was just amazing to be unhurried in the shower. The best we could do to clean ourselves on the long trip on the Xanadu Blood had been standing sponge baths in the tiny WC. The remaining trip back to Coruscant on the Acclamator didn’t count, even though it was amazing to be able to stretch the legs. No relaxation was possible when you...

Corusca Online Blacksmithery

One thing I'd really like to see in the story is an interlude to show more grassroots reactions to major events. So much of Star Wars exists in the upper-stratosphere of the movers and shakers that decide the fate of worlds and the galaxy etc. It's rare that we truly see the 'ground level' on screen. Dex in the prequels was the first bit of someone we saw just going about his day-to-day, running a diner, who just happened to be an experienced retired spacer, who was friends with Obi-Wan. Cant...

“Hyperthreader and scanner.”

The tools in question were in hand and passed to Anakin, which promptly disappeared into the guts of one of the engine nacelles of Bane’s heavy starfighter.

The fighter in question was now safely ensconced in a secure hangar bay aboard the Royal Star. We were far from the only interested party working on the highly modified Rogue-class. A group of four Hapan engineers were also burying themselves in various aspects of the ship.

The conundrum that was presented to me as the morning dawned was whether I should tell dad about ‘15 immediately or wait until he came back home from work later. He usually gave himself under an hour to get ready for a workday and I knew if I sprung 15’s appearance on him at breakfast, he would run late or even call in for a day off. This was, after all, something directly related to me and concerning me. Even if he made it to work, the worry would gnaw at him.

Stopping myself from ...

My first all digital doodle.

Medium: Digital paintbrush, airbrush and chiascuro

Rationale: Inspired by the poster that Ahsoka has on the wall of her quarters aboard the Resolute.

This was a fun thing to do, practicing using an all new art program, learning the tools and with not a dedicated tablet in sight. This was done just using keyboard and mouse. The Z95 is mesh from a Star Wars: Empire at War mod by mod author Ozzy, which I painted and textured over.

Things on my list to improve/learn in the digit...

The Force Wills - Chapter 20

Standing in the circular Jedi High Council chamber surrounded on every side by the Masters was generally seen by almost everyone in the rank and file of the Jedi Order as a time to be quite nervous. It generally meant you had done something to merit taking up a slot of the precious time allocated to High Council sessions, which often, in this day and age, did not bode well. In pre-war times, an average Jedi could expect to find themselves in front of the Council on only a handful of occasions...

Armor Brainstorming

As indicated in Chapter 19, Ahsoka and Anakin are now designing an armor together.

I would greatly appreciate all the Patrons to participate and in the comments to this post, put their ideas forward on what they would come up with. You can include links to pictures of armors or simply use words for things you'd like to see.

Here are links to swtorista for a few armors that I like the look of.

The Force Wills - Chapter 19

The high speed journey to Devaron was frantic in terms of preparation. The five ship task group of Acclamator class cruisers, consisting of Thunderbolt, Requiem, Judge, Pathfinder and Vigil, were all newly commissioned with equally green clone crews manning them. The ships were so new that I could still smell the fresh paint in my temporary quarters aboard Thunderbolt. The only experience the group had was the 501st Legion, wh...

“From your perspective, Darth Bane was much like any Sith from your era, hungry for power and knowledge of the Dark Side, seeking to dominate any who opposed him. He did not, however, come from a privileged background in the Empire - or as it was known then - the Brotherhood of Darkness. He was the son of a cortosis miner, and like his father, spent his teenage years working in the cortosis mines. His Force sensitivity was completely missed, as the Jedi of the time barely had anyone they co...

The time had finally arrived.

Dr. Anderson and Panacea were due in my hospital room in fifteen minutes and yet it felt like it was taking forever. I was so ready to be outta here. There had been many moments where I had entertained the idea of just misting and flying myself home, damn the consequences. Thankfully, reason would assert itself and I would think of the fact that I wouldn’t be getting the potential clarity on my new state of being if I did so.

Then there was the elep...

Oh, okay, I'll put my thoughts down. This was inspired by the thought of what Taylor would look like in the future of the The Owl in the Abyss, with training and time to work on herself. As much as she'd want the bigger bust size, (as indicated early in the fic) practicality has won out, as she can't wear a sports bra during cape work, much less anything else.
