AN: Double upload! YAY! I am ded.
“How would you test me, then,” Irwyn grinned ever so slightly. He was, of course, confident. Maybe it was ego but he was quite sure basically no one could pass any magical criteria he didn’t. At least not at his age.
“I come from a simple people, Irwyn,” the ambassador nodded. “We face the raging storm and the worthy return to speak of it.”
“Very well,” Irwy...

This is being posted together with the chapter. It's mostly about schedulling so if you don't care just go to the other post.
So, for anyone who might have missed it, I wrote at the end of the last chapter that I would take a break for 1-2 uploads as it was the end of volume 2 and start doing 1 monthly break to reach a better spot with burnout. Well, I decided to do one now and anticipate to take one more on the 19th as something in-between the monthly break and the second half of the v...

AN: ^ So, I found out my pinned 'read me' is apparently not pinned for at least some people on mobile and this is a good time for me explain what this 'difference' thing at the start of every chapter means. AN: Here is the promised megachapter. No good halfway point to cut it off but it's well over the size of 2 regular chapters, very close to 3. I will have to figure out what to do with it on RR when it gets there. But that's an about-a-month-in-the-future-me's problem. Right now me has been editing for several hours and is tired. I hope that Patreon didn't decide to randomly delete too many spaces after pasted italic text as it loves to do since it is much harder t...

Sorry about the silence and delays. I have, as of right now, finished writing a 8k word chapter. That is, 8k before first edits which usually make them noticeably longer. It might very well reach 9k before I am happy with it to equal the 3 uploads that should have happened in the meantime. I see no good cut-off point without a lackluster cliffhanger so I will upload it as one chapter.
With that said it is coming tomorrow. Thank you for your patience with my subpar personality.

Five minutes later Irwyn stood in front of the debris of the fallen roof, staring at it intently. A mage whose name he had already forgotten - or perhaps just never heard - stood next to him mumbling a long incantation Irwyn was not paying much attention to.
A few people were standing around. Almost all of them were associated with the Guild thou...

AN: Alright, this has been - obviously - a bad week for me. However, I have 2 chapters ready at least. Writing out of order again and some spots of writer's block. I am still finishing up the second but both will be on the longer side.
Now, book 2 is coming to a natural ending point soon. I am not sure how many more chapters, and wouldn't say if I did, however, it will be soon. After that is done I want to take a week off. For one to reset since I have...

Irwyn sat up, confused. His head felt blurry as memories returned. It took him a moment to realize that he had been in the middle of fighting the undead. Then another for his head to snap towards his arm.
It was still there. Or perhaps there again as his sleeve was missing, exposing his - frankly subpar - arm muscles. He stared roughly where his wound would have been but saw no obvious issue. Felt nothing wrong.
“I...

AN: I ended up rewriting a big chunk of this chapter. I usually avoid rewrites since I generally spot bad ideas no more than a hundred or two words in, this time it was well over a thousand of a different POV that just didn't feel right. The warehouse was, indeed, remote. So remote that the duo got lost on their way. Twice. It hid right under the floor of the third level of the inner city, however, could not be accessed from that floor. Instead, after minutes of futile searching, they had to go downstairs and find a stairway up. Unfortunately, not all the way up as the stairs ended on the floor below where they actually wanted to go so they spent another while wandering arou...

Irwyn realized he had missed this place. The wondrous training hall with magic that he could still not quite understand despite all the progress he had made was the exact same as the last time he had been there. Perhaps not even dust was allowed to fall. At least nowadays he felt the intangible strings of magic grasping onto him, connecting and affecting him. But these were unlike the magic he used.
