Hi folks! My schoolyear is almost over, but I'm still not quite on top of patreon obligations, I'm going to be putting it on hold for the next month as well. Thank you for your continued support!
Daggerflies are ambush predators with radial wings and a pointed body. They hover at high altitude, using specialized eyes to scan the ground underneath them. When something is detected, daggerflies drop onto, and impale their prey. Whatever they pin down is digested in place, using a stomach that they evert like a starfish.
Naturally, daggerflies are terrifying to lizards.
The babies, however, are harmles...

I have been very sporadic about keeping this Patreon updated, and I am behind on offering backer rewards. As a result, I will be pausing Patreon for at least a month while I build up a buffer of things to post, and fulfill overdue backer rewards.
I will still be posting art, but billing is suspended for the time being.
Thank you for supporting me, and thanks for your understanding!
While the walls of Duhr are stone and ceramic, the buildings aren't. It's an ancient, layered wooden city. The upper stories have a new, freshly-milled look and feel. The lower stories are deep, dark, and mossy. Rather than being cramped, Duhr actually opens up in its lower areas. Shaded waterways and moss-covered courtyards, sometimes lit by a passing beam of sunlight. Visitors remark that it feels more like a deep forest than a city.
While Family culture has its fair share of concerts and festivals, music sometimes plays a more personal role. In a highly social, public culture, choosing to share a song in private is especially meaningful.
Most Family compounds are ancient, and extend deep underground. It takes a lot to keep a Family running, and the innumerable cellars, tunnels, crawlspaces, and shafts are filled with generations of mechanical detritus.
Family service areas aren't an eldritch mess like the ruins, but a more "conventional" mess. Old cranky machines up next to newer ones, pipes that go nowhere, diagrams that are missing, incomplete, or completely wrong, equipment that was ostensibly disconnected b...

A pirate ship being salvaged by a family who... specializes in salvage. The own 2 double-hulled floating "drydocks,"
They practically live in their salvage ships, which are huge and always plodding around the peninsula. People call them vultures.
it's not uncommon for them to try to scoop up pieces of a ship that's still... inhabited. Tear into a bulkhead and find a bunch of shaken-up pirates, still on board and looking for a ride home.
A laboratory where the Federal Family studies artifacts. While artifacts can be categorized, no two are exactly alike. Each artifact needs its properties mapped and explored. While common artifacts are usually harmless, this task isn't without risk. Sometimes a benign looking artifact will do something dangerous, or suck enough energy to give you heatstroke or make your channeling organs burn.
The Federal Family not own owns vast labs, but also huge collections of artifacts. They...

Thank you for your patience while I've been inactive the last weeks. My semester is, as of yesterday, 100% over, and I hope to be back to my baseline amount of lizard art shortly. Wishing everyone who's celebrating happy holidays (happy Hanukah for me) and the winter possible.
Unpredictable weather, altitude limitations, and the fact that airships have been around for hundreds of years make fixed-wing aircraft rarely-seen, specialized tools in The Shell.
One faction that uses them is the Federal government, which prioritizes stability and reliability. This Federal packet runner is designed for one job-- delivering news and Federal commands faster than an airship can. It's robust, paired wings, and push-pull engines give it a surprising amount of maneuverai...
