3 years BC (before covid):
Sam scrolled down his phone.
His breathing was an aerial sandpaper on his throat, his eyes waterfalls, his heart a star going into supernova. He read the message over and over again, looping himself in panic:
"Greetings,
I am William Addler, a private investigator. I was hired to deal with the Jack [insert canon surname] case, and upon research it appears you are the most likely culprit.
I would lik...

Both Sydney ad TJ went to do some groceries. TJ's parents had insisted but they compromised by baking the cake. The list wasn't that extensive anyways: some chicken salads TJ found particularly pleasing. Humble as he was, even his birthday wasn't that much of a fest day.
Still, they bought some beer nuts and other extremely salty snacks for Sydney to indulge in.
"Babe, I love how considerate you are, but this feels like a feasts for my birthday" Sydney kissing TJ's cheek, "I want ...

A few sessions of love-making later the two were hanging out in the couch.
"happy bday TJ!" Chase texted.
"hey so happy birthday tj" Kudzu texted.
"Feliz compleanos gatito!" Leo phoned directly, "Miss both of you babosos so much!"
"Love you bros!" Carl voice had said before farting.
"Hm, happy birthday I guess" Flynn had said. Sydney frowned at that, he was his best friend and he didn't like him having peridioc hangovers about being c...

Well, temtem was fully released so I gotta talk about it.
The Airborne Archipelago
Arguably more interesting than the mons themselves are the locations in temtem. Taking place in a sky world, there are six islands, each revolving around two temtem types and based on real-life cultures. In essence, its like getting as many Pokemon regions as possible in a single game.
Though they are in some ways themepark versions of real places, (most of) the islands feel l...

TJ woke up to the world's most pleasant smell and sight. Enveloped in Sydney's musk, he saw his boyfriend snoring peacefully. He was so cute that TJ couldn't help but smile broadly and kiss him gently on the nose. He tried his hardest to not wake up him but, but involuntary purring led to the otter stirring, yawning and eventually opening his blue eyes.
"Mornin' babe" he said, kissing TJ softly in the lips.
"Sorry for waking you up, you're just so cute" TJ replied guiltily.

55 million years ago, Wyoming.
A small mammal scurries along the tree branches. It is dusk, and it has just left its shelter in the deeper canopy to forage for food. It is an omnivore: it can do a little bit of everything, which is likely how it got to remain alive for so long. But these days, being a jack-of-all-trades isn’t good enough.
This thing looks a bit like the menagerie of ptilodontoideans it shares its habitat with. In fact, you’d be forgiven if you didn’t notice ...

Not sure if this will become a full blown Speculative Evolution project but I couldn’t hold it anymore:
- Earth mostly identical to ours except instead of therian mammals allotherians survived and displaced them (basically already happening in the early Paleocene; damn you PETM!). Meridiolestidans, monotremes and zealandatheres are also present.
- Gondwanatheres were already dominant across the southern continents, and extend into the northern continents during the Paleocen...

What's up with WOTC not using Liesa in the main storyline anyways?
***
Sigarda had felt when Liesa returned.
It was a shock, so much so she lowered her guard and allowed flesh-wax strings grip her, surrundering her to the vampires. She wasn't afforded much processing in the weeks that followed, but now that she was free she found the weight of this truth anew.
She had distracted herself by freeing Thraben, her radiance purging the undead hordes so carelessly...

Sydney decides to take Jenna's example and sleep at Leo's house.

Jenna was reading on the bus.
It was a Hiromu Arakawa title filled with beefy men and busty women. Honestly it was horribly uninteresting but she didn't mind, it was better than reality. God and Satan know she could take a break from that.
Unfortunately for her, a disgusting musky scent drew her out of her Platonic Cave.
"Do you ever use deodorant?" sh...

Pangolin trying to be Godzilla. By Christian Box.</figure>
The concept of theropod-like mammals is a fairly controversial one in speculative evolution discourse and one I weighted in very negatively in the past. Some years of retrospect and nature humbling me and I’ve arrived at a more neutral position: they are possible, but only under specific circumstances.
Why few mammals are ...

Of course I'm scared,
Of course I'm bleak.
Every breath takes something,
Something that once made me unique.
With each new dawn,
A fire.
With each new dusk,
A drowning.
Anger is in the sun,
Despair is in my cold tears.
And so is balance,
Now the ugliest of words,
I vacillate in the extremes
Never to be myself again.
So how does one win,
Win a war ingrained in us?
Let nukelight purify you,
Let...

So essentially I decided to use the MH decks I formed to think of Innistradi werewolves across the color pie. Think of this s a speculative exercise based on what amounts to toys.
"Normal" Werewolves (Red/Green)
The ones seen onscreen. Primal urges, Tovolar, dire strain, yadda yadda.
"Individual Focused" (Black/Red)
Based on a deck with red werewolves plus the three black ones. I imagine these to be at first glance like the red/gree...

When designing "realistic" dragons many people seem to default to chemical explosions in the mouth to produce streams of flame. While there is a precedent among animals, the bombardier beetle, vertebrates have more complex tissues, and a common issue that's rarely addressed is how these animals don't burn their mouths.
Here, I propose a solution that I'm surprised is not used more often, and with basis on medieval bestiary depictions of dragons. There, a common emphasis is how dragons s...
