Early Access 0.1558.2: New Robot Ending Added

Heeeey, cakefolk!

Our second early access update this month brings with it another alternate ending to an existing storyline. This one's for the Villainous Robot storyline, and also includes an additional scene in the lead up to it, on the sixth day.

Our art updates complete the Zombie storyline from last month, as well as give us something for Sayori's new Alter ending from the last update. A bit quiet for new drawings by my standards, I guess! But they've both come out lovely~ View Post

I've added one new scene to the original story on day 6, and also had a stab at writing the alternate path for this route (under the choice "I have to stop this now"). In our first early access update of the month, we see a tentative new ending to Sayori's Alter path. It concerns the final choice of the... less ethical path in that storyline, and is an option I know lots of people were keen on seeing explored. Unlike most other storylines I've written, I didn't have a clear view of how I wanted to end it, and I think it shows, but despite any flaws I might think it has I still reckon it's a fun ride and I'm looking forward to seeing how everyone will rate this route against everything else Penlight has to offer.

... Geez, it's been a whole month since the last preview article. But with my artist on the mend and resuming work I'm finally able to start gushing about new art again!

Our art focus remains on this big Zombie storyline scene. While most of the action involves the three women volunteering for Kyou's rehearsal, the camera is meant to cut away at times to Sayori, who is watching all of this happen from the adjacent couch.

As Penlight continues to get bigger and bigger (hoping to pass 300,000 words this month!) I've felt its main stars could do with a little more visual expression. So I went ahead and got a third pose made for each of them!

Nozomi also gets several new facial expressions, like the one showcased above. Her sprite's often central between her friends so I thought it'd be a cute detail for her front-facing sprite to look towards them while they're speaking. Sayori gets one...
