Early Roughs (an office visit)

The next scene continues as I get the early roughs done. This is surprisingly tidier than some of my pages which end up looking like chicken scratches. I try to keep things loose and fast, but that creeping obsession to "make it look a little better" starts draining the clock terribly haha. However, it does make the second pass of sketching much easier.

Many characters show up in this scene. This is near the start of it. It's gonna be a fun one. :P

A Halloween Treat! (no tricks I swear) - Vol. 2 Launch

It's been a long road, but... but I think I'm going to launch Volume 2... I don't know.... maybe.... SATURDAY? :D

47 pages are finished, beating my goal by 2 pages... and uh, missing my intended goal by 2 plus months, but HEY we made it! While I am lightly concerned about the longer page creation times, plus some possible life obstacles, I just can't delay any longer. You all deserve this!

I am currently writing the script to the launch video and (checks calendar).... yikes I have...

A quick update

I'm currently on vacation at Disney, but still wanted to send out some quick updates. All base coloring is done and rendering is left for what I'd call my last 4 pages before launch (47 finished so far). If all goes well, we could be looking at launch on the last Friday of this month! (I will make an official all "patreon" announcement if / when that occurs.

Line Work and Coloring! (launch closing in)

Welp... line work and color prep is commencing on these 4 pages! The station above has just some test lighting, but the rendering will be far more rich when finished. You can see Ivan giving a "struggle snuggle" in the other pic that I jokingly added. XD

I imagine base color / rendering will start over the weekend. I'll be on vacation with my family during the middle of October (DIDNEY WORL) but it's looking like I'm going to beat my deadline of launching before Halloween!

Super roughs! (getting close now)

Welp... it's the first time back for Ivan in Volume 2 along with some new characters! These are ultra rough, and a bit cleaner than I should've made them to boot. I'll be making full 2nd passes at these, I just try to ride the line of quick and "good enough" for the paneling and layout without being scribbles, but not so polished it takes too much time. It's a vicious cycle lol.

After taking a close look at the script, I think this little scene will be around 4 pages which will bring me...

Cashmere Sky Volume 2 Cover Mockup

Well... I said mockup... but this most likely could be the real deal. I definitely needed a cover for Volume 2 and for "reasons", I needed it sooner than later. After much peer review and many mockup examples, I landed on this one. I'm pleased enough with the result, as I think it captures the essence of what the graphic novel is supposed to be about. Volume 1's was intentional for a different reason, but I feel fell short in a couple areas regarding the branding. I may redo it in the future ...

Cover Mockups!

Just wanted to show some of the process when I work on something like this. It seems I needed to tackle a Volume 2 book cover sooner than I thought (will reveal later). Anyway, I've already chosen the one I'm going with and will post it soon! Can you guess which one? Which one do you like best? :P

The Cashmere House is complete!

It's been a long way getting here, but the house is complete! I can finally show you! This will help SO much for the future of the comic! Zachary Nall did a fantastic job while also dealing with all my nitpicking XD. Anyway, here it is! I did some fun little things to give it a more 60's presentation vibe hehe.

Sketch Dump

I just wanted to give an update to all my patrons as I have a few more things coming. I'm trying really hard as I'm ramping up the last pages before I can launch. Here's a sketchdump of drawings from my last scene with some interesting family dynamics XD.

I'm finally getting around to this as I've been procrastinating for a very long time since I wasn't sure what I was going to do yet. The video posted will contain everything I say here (and much more), but you are all the first to know.

I know I've been planning to launch the comic this summer, but due to the length of production, increased quality, etc... I haven't been knocking these pages down as fast as I'd like. By the end of August I will have 43 pages done, ve...

Getting closer!

Just to show that I'm still hard at work (always am XD), this is a recent page with cleaned up sketches, nearly ready for line art. There's a few things I need to adjust, but that's just part of the process. I also sometimes like to do some test shading with black and white values to get a feel for the scene before I actually commit. It just takes a few minutes and I think it helps.

Also... THE HOUSE MODEL IS NEARLY DONE! I've indeed been using it here, but there's a lot of fixes my mod...

Sketch Dump!

I apologize for the lack of updates over the last 1-2 weeks. I was on vacation! :P Now that I'm back, I'm cracking on the cleaned up sketches of the next scene. Holly and Arlo get some page time here as the situation boils. Enzo gets a little bit as well, but it's really a Holly / Arlo scene. Many MANY more sketches go!

Also, the Cashmere 3d modeled house is almost done... furnished and everything! I can't wait to show you all, but for now, it'll have to wait.

More roughs! (and some news)

Here are a few more rough sketches and planning I've done for an upcoming scene between Arlo and Enzo.  The house is STILL not done yet, so some of the scene angles and shots could wildly change. The scene in total is around 6 pages which puts me at around 43 pages when these are done.

The house model isn't done yet but I can still plan the super roughs for this section of the comic! My friend said he plans to furnish the house as well, so I'll have to give a house tour when it's ready hehe.

Cashmere Sky on Lackadaisy Shop Talk!

Hello everyone!

I'm excited to announce that tomorrow I will be on a livestream with a few other amazing webcomic artists along with Tracy Butler and some crew from the upcoming Lackadaisy animated film! From past streams I've seen, it will probably run a few hours or whenever we get tired, but if you're around, come on by and listen to us talk about our comics, pros, cons, favorite ice cream flavor, whatever! Tiny art drop!

I did both of these during a stream. I gave Holly a 2021 well needed update, as I wanted to push a more vintage / retrofuture flair with her outfit, plus adding more volume to her hair. The character shot on the website had flat hair which I never really liked. So yeah, here's Holly.

Oh.... and Ivan. I went a Frank Miller / Zack Snyder type angle for fun... first time attempt. XD It's still in a sketchy form, but I polished it up as much as I could without putting too much time into it....

Casa Cashmere

I present to you, very early renditions of the Cashmere home! I know the updates have been a bit sparse the last week or two, but I'll be hitting you with a couple more in the coming week or so!

I was wanting to have a more complete version when I posted this, but like all things, there were some setbacks and revisions that were much needed. The rough blueprints as shown are the major revisions that will need to be incorporated into the house. You'll notice the front is nearly identical...

Hot off the press!

I didn't want to tease you guys TOO much from my last post talking about renders and not even posting them! I officially got started tonight, though the Daphne / Hallway render I've had done for some time for some lighting tests.

I'm been using the 3d model of the classroom supplied to me by my friend who was the lead modeler for the upcoming Lackadaisy film. It's served very useful and has allowed me to play more with colors and lighting. I'm trying to back off the saturation and tryin...

Rendering time!

This section of the comic has been... well... brutal. I started in February and here I am running weeks behind my intended finish date. I'm finishing all the base colors this weekend and beginning renders on Monday. I'm hoping to have them finished by the first week of June, but that leaves 8 pages from 45 before I can launch (still aiming for Summer). Before then I have an upcoming announcement (still haven't finalized details) but I'll make sure all patrons are aware!

A bit of finish

As another update.... I was ALMOST done with the 14th page of this section for line art and color prep... then I stopped cause I was so sick of it and started coloring haha. This is actually the first nearly finished panel of the section, but good god is this taking a long time. I might have bit off more than I can chew. I thought summer release was reasonable... but geez it could be a little tighter than I thought. My hope is to have this all done by the end of this month, then 8 more pages ...

Catching the train

As a quick update, line art has started as I'm charging my way through this section of the story. I'm thinking it will be early to mid May before it's done, and in the coming weeks I'll be sending out a very important update regarding the project. I had already hinted it once, but I don't want to say anything until I actually drop the hammer.

Sketchdump Daphne / Enzo sequence

Welp.... I'm ALMOST done sketching this section of Volume 2. This was definitely a tougher part to work on, pushing almost 14 pages. I hope to get this part done by early May, which will leave me about 7-8 more pages from the magical 45 buffer! 

While this scene has been exhausting, I've had a blast drawing it, finally bringing it to fruition from the first time I thought up this scenario so many years ago. I'm hoping Daphne really kicks off her debut when she arrives. She's um.......
