Quick update

Hey friends! Just wanted to send out another quick updated … Thanks again to my early patrons for standing by through this "beta period." It's taken me longer to get Loop Garoo rolling than I'd hoped, with both work and family issues cropping up recently.

However! I'll be reorganizing the campaign over the next month and taking it out of "beta" and into "active release!" I've got some additional comic concepts lined up, a bit shorter than Loop Garoo, and I'll be rolling those out soon...

Sketch: Eurus

Here's another recent sketch done of the third coyena (coyote/hyena hybrid) sibling: Zephyrus and Austeria's younger brother, Eurus. He's 24 years old, and is both a semi-professional skateboarder and a graphic artist. He doesn't have quite the heavy build his older siblings have, but he still works hard to keep in shape and can be pretty cocky about it.

Part of my new plan for the campaign is to wrap Loop Garoo in with some other comics, and while it's still in pre-production, work on ...

Sketch: Austeria

Here's another sketch I did recently of another of the coyenas (coyote-hyena hybrids). This is Austeria, Zephyrus' younger sister. She's 28 years old and works at a university studying and researching biotechnology. When she's not at work or exercising to keep up with her older brother, she's usually out clubbing with friends and acquaintances.

Actually I'll be doing a bit of tweaking to the campaign over the next month or two … More details to come but I hope folks will like it! Than...

Sketch: Zephyrus

Hey friends! Sorry this past month has been quiet; I'm working on getting this campaign back on schedule. In the meantime, here's a quick rough sketch I did recently of one of my characters, Zephyrus Coyena. He's a coyote-hyena hybrid, 32 years old and quite a hunk. He manages a gym, offers personal training, and enjoys traveling and playing his guitar or ukulele.

Thanks again for everyone's support! Bear with me. :)

Sample Layout: Scene 1.6

I thought some of y'all higher tier patrons might like a little peek into how I handle writing and layout when I'm doing comics. Many years ago I decided to stop writing scripts; I believe they cause too much temptation to overload scenes with unnecessary dialog, and don't force you to think about visual solutions to storytelling problems as much as it should. So I took a page from Stan Lee's infamous "Marvel Method," where he would verbally describe a story to his artist, the artist would go...

Raccoon Lake Map (Preliminary)

Hey friends! Thank you all so much for bearing with me while I try to get this campaign ramped up … It's been a busy month with freelance and prep for Anthrocon in a few weeks. I promise I'm gonna do something nice for all my "early investors" before the comic campaign proper launches in a few months.

Anyway, I thought you might enjoy a sneak-peak at a preliminary map I was working on (mocked...

Thumbnail Layouts

Hey guys! It’s been a busy month, I didn’t want you guys to think I’d forgotten my early adopter crowd!

So, I’m starting to work on character design real soon now … but I’ve also been having a terrific time working from my story outline to create thumbnail page layouts for the comic. It’s a wonderfully creative act for me … I keep my outline loose and scriptless, which gives me a lot of leeway to make changes or additions as I’m putting things together visually or come...

Preliminary Logo

Hey friends! While I'm getting geared up here I thought I'd share this image of the preliminary logo for Loop Garoo. I already posted it to Twitter, but I can share some extra behind-the-scenes thoughts here.

It took me awhile to find a font. I wanted something that would reflect a bit of the chaos and confusion the main character goes through while learning he's a werewolf; but I did not want to veer into blood-splatter or violence, since that's not really what the story is about. Even...

Hello!

Hey friends! Well, the campaign is soft-launched. I should be starting to post development work through May, working towards beginning actual comic pages in a few months. If you feel like contributing, please join in! Thank you!

Also, there is a Twitter account for the Loop Garoo comic. Feel free to follow that for additional information and updates. See you soon!
