Upgrading the Videos

Hello all current patrons! This doesn't really effect you!

This is all covered in the video, but essentially we're revamping the Patreon in an effort to upgrade the videos as well as our whole operation.

So this means we're going to be offering a lot more to patrons. I'll be posting updates here a lot more often, including info on upcoming videos. We're actually going to make monthly livestreams a regular thing, ideally aiming for the first week of each month.

We Made a New Channel Trailer

You may have noticed some rebranding happening this week on the channel and the Patreon and my social media accounts. All of this is long overdue. The old branding was from 2015, and it was time for an update in tone, aesthetic, and also I wanted to get the whole core team on there.

Part of this rebranding means a new channel trailer (the thing that plays on the main page of the channel for new visitors). I could've thrown something together in 10 minutes, a quick montage of clips from videos ...

What Do We Want From a Star Wars Movie?

Remember the last video, how I talked about how I was revamping the way I make video essays?

Well, here's the result. It's 20 minutes long, it took a full extra week to make, but it's a better idea of what I'm going to be doing with these videos going forward.

It's a deep dive into the evolution of Star Wars fandom over the past 40 years. It's dense. It will probably be divisive. I had a lot of fun making it.

The past 5 days have been madness. Since Friday night we've been filming every day, and both Saturday and Sunday were 12-hour days. We shot the whole Christmas video (it drops next Wednesday!), and then as soon as we wrapped on Sunday, we sat down, wrote this, and started shooting.
