September Comic Poll

What comic should I work on here?

(I guess I'll give this like a week, or until a majority of Patreons have picked one choice or the other.)

I wanted to slide in another page before the poll for this month starts.

I changed the dialog a little in the middle panel.  This is right after Lucy realized Annie deceived her, so I didn't think Annie would be complaining about Lucy.

PDF Test 4

Another PDF test, this time with "A Day Off No Matter What" pages.  I was trying to see if there were any issues creating a PDF with those pages.  A much smaller PDF was created if I used flattened comic page files.

This is about 11 MBs for 9 pages of art.  I suspect the comic might end up being about 14 pages + a cover.  That'll also end up duplicated if I include the comic pages without dialog, so I think the final PDF might be 32 MBs.  Unless I try to make it...

Okay, here's  third test.  This one is an attempt to take the one credits page and split it into two, increasing the text side and hopefully making it easily readable on phones.

Any thoughts, or things I might be missing?

Here's a newer version, is this any better?  I've made some changes-

The fonts are larger in places, and I've replaced the lighter gray text with a darker gray.  Added some color, and given the background a simple design.  I've also made the rating on the cover mockup (in the PDF) larger.

Is the text here too small still?  I guess I should consider this could be viewed on phones.  If it's still too small, I could try splitting the contents of the credits p...

Annie Micro-Bikini WIP So Far

I asked for an Annie picture idea on Twitter, and someone requested her trying on a "micro-bikini".  I wasn't sure how to follow that yet.

These are in reverse order-

I started with the unique one.  Something seemed off, the proportions, and/or the pose or something.  I was trying to go with the most direct option, Annie behind a door trying on the bikini.  The top can't be -that- micro because it has to cover her nipples.

PDF Test

Trying something different here.  I wanted to test out turning a comic into a pdf.  At least with some of these exclusive comics here, I want to post them as a pdf for Patrons once they are complete, but also put them up for sale digitally from some small price (like 0.99 each).

I've never tried to turn a comic into a pdf before, so there's some things to think over.  I used the Mira and Arim comic pages I had started because it didn't really matter which comic I picked, ...

The story continues.

The plot of this reminded of the kind of thing you'd find in a 1980's comic, starts out with swimsuits and turns into some silly action.

Warp has switched to a "savage land" kind of outfit surprisingly quickly.  Her role in the story is to be Charlotte's other friend, and be a fun character.

Moving along.  A lot of little things left-

• Add the three as ghosts to the first two panels.
• Add the more complex background texture to panel 4.
• Draw the group and maybe add some snowy or cold texture or color tint to panels 5 & 6.
• Draw Warp's head in the bottom two panels.

I'm not sure what's my plan for the third panel.  It might be Mount Rushmore?  I wanted at least two landmarks that were obviously very far apart.

I might be obvious where this is going.  They'll clearly be in those costumes soon.

Trying to get this page done before the end of the month.  Remember, next month there will be a vote to continue this, or do a different comic... although this has an ending that's not far away either way, so eventually it'll be a vote between what other comic to make.

(the joke is it's that "Oppai" shirt, but changed to Al Bhed.)

It's kind of simple, but the joke didn't need much.  Sometime I worry my art is too minimalist.

Remember, Hypnos gave Grace that serum to make her powers stronger so she could jump all the way from Michigan to ...I can't remember if it was Nevada or Utah...  She doesn't remember any of that.  That serum might have been temporary, or maybe it increased her powers permanently?

Also, Grace will be a goth again, but she clearly had to have her natural look here.

I don't usually add highlights in coloring, but Idolmonkeh usually does, and it always makes things stand out more, even if there's only a few highlights- so I tried it here.  It's really only a few spots on her hair, her eyes, and chest.

The finished picture.  There will probably be more than one, but I doubt there will be more than a WIP of the next one before this week's Pulse page is done Thursday-ish.

I tried to focus on Grace first because it's been a while since I've drawn her.

First draft of the next page.  Grace, unaware that the serum given to her the night before increased her powers, takes Charlotte and Katie on a ride.

Her powers were probably increased hundreds or thousands of times what they would normally be.  It could wear off eventually, or maybe not.

Rikku XL WIP 1 & 2

I promised a picture of a bustier than normal Rikku on Twitter.  I think it might end up being 2-3 pictures because I was given a number of good ideas.

Here's two WIPs.  Originally she was going to be wearing one of those "oppai" shirts from One Punch Man, although translated into Al Bhed ("ubbye").  But I didn't think it ended up being the right angle to read the t-shirt well.

I kinda feel like there could be something wrong with this, or I should stop and look at ...

Took some time to finish up this page.  I meant to make the circle pattern on the floor in the first panel, but accidentally cleared the layer and didn't notice right away, but it would have been a major challenge for something minor.  I was considering making it as a flat patter and then trying to warp it.

In retrospect, I should have taken time, and planned out Charlotte's three animal forms.  But sometimes when you make webcomics you have to just making things up on the page.

I didn't follow the animal form designs from the older Pulse comic, because I thought they were too animal-like.  I wanted something more human.  I thought I should just start over and do something different.

I was going to go with a different hairstyle for each, but I thought Charlotte's natur...

Not sure about the colors for Charlotte's animal forms.  I tried to keep them solid colors, but I could try to include some kind of color pattern in places.

I should have pre-planned Charlotte's three animal forms, but sometimes in a webcomic you have to just make stuff up in the moment.  I'm going to make them more human than in the older Pulse.  Just alter her eyes, nose, skin color, and maybe hands.  She might have wings in her eagle form, but I don't know if they'll be part of her arms or not.

I've wondered if her different forms should each have a different physique, and be different heights.  Like maybe she's even ...

It's further along that I would have liked to post a WIP, but I drew all of this yesterday (Saturday), and just added the gutters and lettered it today.

Annie's chest looks too big in panel 3, maybe her right boob is too long.

I had to flip the top panel, it seemed odd that Annie was on the left in most panel, and Lucy on the right.  ...in retrospect the shadows might be wrong then?

I'll have to go back once this is done and look for little mistakes to fix anyway.  Sometimes you need fresh eyes to evaluate mistakes you noticed, or to notice unseen mistakes.  Also sometimes you only notice mistakes if viewing the pages in order.  I just noticed that on the previous page Annie was missing he...
