Chapter 12
Stepping away from the table while releasing the blue spot on the wood, Thaden shook his head in disappointment. Scooping up his one and only purchase from the tabletop, he put the boots on his feet, feeling their size adjust automatically to fit comfortably.

Unexpected Healer book 2 is well underway! I'm planning on adding another 10 chapters or so next week, while also fixing the first chapter; after receiving some feedback on some clarification issues, I'm going to rewrite a little of the first chapter for continuity and clarification reasons on Sunday.
The rest of the week should be fairly straightforward with writing, however :)
Here are my plans for the week:
Sunday: Rewrite portions of Chapter 1; package up Globa...

Chapter 11
The trip back to the Adventurer Coalition building was uneventful for the most part, other than the fact that the signs led him to one of the other Coalition locations in the city first, but it didn’t take long to correct his path. It was approximately an hour and a half after he left the entrance of the Magma dungeon when he walked up to the rear of the building, held out his room key, and a portion of the wall popped open invitingly. He d...

Chapter 10
Well, that sucks.
Who would’ve thought he would go up against something that could heal itself? Certainly not Thaden, obviously, because he was absolutely flabbergasted at the sight of the repaired Magma Colossus and he could barely even think straight. Granted, that was probably because he was still recovering from nearly burning alive from the concentrated heat of so many monsters around him, but it was also because he didn’t expe...

Chapter 9
As he could’ve guessed, there was Magma in the Magma Dungeon. There was, in fact, a lot of it.
Similar to the Mausoleum of Despair, his path through the entrance tunnel was relatively short before it opened up into a room; the biggest difference between the Magma Dungeon and the Mausoleum was that the room was actually a circular cave that was approximately 150 feet wide and half that tall, with magma spilling out in waterfalls to pool on the s...

Globs of magma splashed off the Major Repulsion Field Thaden had protecting him even as he took a step back, watching what looked like a giant black lizard with glowing red veins covering its exterior land on the island.

Chapter 7
Thankfully for Thaden, accepting the Quest and getting out of the Coalition building was easier than he expected. Upon getting ready to leave, he discovered that his clothes had been freshly laundered and deposited outside of his door at some point while he was asleep. Stashing most of it in his Inventory, he changed into a clean outfit that was different enough from the one he had been wearing the day before; with the clean clothes and having...

Chapter 6
Waking up the next morning, Thaden opened his eyes and looked up at the stone ceiling above him, before stretching his arms out in a big yawn. His room didn’t have any windows, but he assumed that the magical lights inside gradually got brighter as the day started. They were already quite bright, meaning that he had slept in by a few hours, but that didn’t matter too much to him. He thought that he deserved it after everything he’d gone thr...

Chapter 5
Huh?
Before Thaden even turned around, he could tell that this wasn’t some other Contender speaking to him, but a Charee. When he finally did look behind him, he saw that it wasn’t just any Coalition worker like the ones behind the counters, but someone a bit more important based on their attire. In fact, the woman was dressed up even more fancily than Boydlen, the Ashcleft Adventurer Coalition Leader.

Chapter 4
The closer he came to the walls of the enormous city in the mountain, the larger it seemed to grow in his sight. Walking up to its walls, he felt absolutely dwarfed by its sheer magnificence, to the point where it almost put off a physical pressure that bore down on him until he learned to ignore it. That didn’t deter the grand scale that it held in his view, of course, because it was, frankly, as impressive of a structure that he’d ever seen befor...

Chapter 3
If he had been expecting something different from Ashcleft, he would’ve been sorely disappointed. As it was, given how similar the walls looked from the outside, he wasn’t surprised to find that the town of Hewndar was almost a carbon copy of the town he’d just left. Upon closer inspection, he began picking out some differences, but they were almost all cosmetic in appearance; otherwise, as he walked inside, the buildings were in the exact same p...

Chapter 2
Jerking awake in the morning at a noise below him, Thaden nearly fell out of the tree. Thankfully, his mind jumpstarted upon waking up and managed to save himself from the painful fall, and he quickly remembered where he was and what had happened the night before. As the early morning sun filtered through the trees, a particularly bright sunbeam flashing directly into his face, he stretched and began pulling himself out of the wedged space in between t...

What a week! I finished Martial TransFusion (The Fusionist Book 5) earlier this week, edited it, took a few days off, and then started on Unexpected Healer Book 2! I still have some planning to do on that, which I'll be working on a little next week, but I'm hoping to get another 8 to 10 chapters done.
Here are my plans for next week:
Sunday: This is Easter, and if I get any work done, it'll probably be in the form of planning more of the second Healer book
Monday-F...

(Here's the start of the new Healer book! I just barely got started on it this week and hope to have plenty more chapters done next week.)
Chapter 1
Thaden threw himself around the corner of the Tailored Finery shop, pumping his legs as he utilized all 16 points of his Celerity into his run. Ripping out the arrow that was only marginally buried in his shoulder thanks to his higher Physicality, he quickly cast Major Mass Healing o...

Chapter 60
The next week and a half was a measure of patience and the frantic defense of his friends and the Strike Force, who became more and more adept at using their new Fusions that Larek provided. He even spent some free time – which was strangely frequent as they had to wait for more monsters to arrive – adding Strengthen and Sharpen Edge Fusions to the Martials’ weapons, as well as Multi-Resistance Fusions to not only their armor but the...

Chapter 59
The pressure upon Larek’s entire body ramped up until he felt like he was going to be squished like a grape between his fingers. He immediately regretted diving into the middle of the Slime to kill it, even if he had succeeded in killing it, but at the time he wasn’t really thinking straight. His Furious Rampage Battle Art had faded away, but at the point he was attacking was making such a decision it had still burned within him. It...

Chapter 58
Seeing the visibly unharmed Slime heading toward the Strike Faction as if his attacks on it meant absolutely nothing nearly broke Larek, but he rallied his despondent emotions as he wracked his mind for a solution. In the back of his mind, he knew that he could arrive at where Nedira and Verne were located and quickly grab them up before leaving, but that was a last resort; that act might kill his old roommate as quickly as the Slime would when it reached t...

I didn't quite meet my goal of finishing Book 5 of the Fusionist this week, but I'm a lot closer! I always seem to underestimate how much time and brainpower goes into a new release, which makes my writing productivity drop quite a bit. With that said, my new goal is to have it done by Monday at the latest!
After it's written, I have to make a few quick changes and edit it so that it can go out to beta-readers. Following that, I'll probably take a day or two off, as I like to do in b...

Chapter 57
What is that?
The Slime he saw had to be at least 100 feet tall and twice that wide as it spread out over the ground, and it was somewhat difficult to differentiate from the material the environment was made of. The dark exterior of the massive monster seemed to almost blend in with the obsidian beneath it, making it seem like it was even larger than it actually was.
Not that it needed to look larger, ...

Chapter 56
While he hadn’t gotten as much rest of his focus and concentration as he would’ve liked after racing to their current location, Larek knew there wasn’t any other choice but to get moving.
“I’m going up; stay here with Verne and the rest of the Faction.”
Nedira looked like she was ready to protest, but the words died on her lips as she continued pulling Fusions out of the Void Pocket bags and looked at the people that were fighting...

Chapter 55
It was slightly bizarre to pass over the rocky landscape and various Aperture territories without having to worry about being attacked, but Larek didn’t let that bother him. He concentrated on focusing all his concentration on maintaining the speed of the Pattern box through the air, moving more and more swiftly as the minutes passed by. The strain of increasing his speed began to get to him, but he largely ignored it because he knew it was importan...

Chapter 54
“No! Why did you do that?! Are you insane?! You’re going to get us all killed!”
Verne heard the Faction leader, Jack, yelling at the unfortunate Mage who started casting prematurely, and he couldn’t help but agree. They had been sneaking through the entire Calamity for the last week, using the nearly exhaustless energy of the Martials to carry the Mages as quickly as possible, because speed was one of the things they had reve...

Chapter 53
After finishing all of the necessary Fusions so that they could resume their trek to the northeast, Larek looked at the gains he had achieved over the last day. His Mage Skills had shot up significantly, thanks in part to the fact that he’d created 50 of the new Shattering Acidic Occlusion Dome +12 Fusions, using Focused Division to create two at a time; any more than that required too much Pattern Cohesion, and it was originally a struggle to complete the Fusion...

Chapter 52
Holding her breath as the Flying Shappo took to the air, Nedira saw the moment it identified them and began heading in their direction. She gripped her staff tighter in her hands, ready to blast it apart with the new Pyroblast effect that Larek had somehow managed to instill in the Fusion that was on it, which was something she never would’ve believed possible if she hadn’t seen—and used—herself. The way that the Fusionist could simply take a spell’s effe...
